I was less than thrilled when I heard the news the first time and these developments have only managed to lower my opinion on this move by CB... Re-boot the official forums and get some actual moderation in place! How hard can it be?

So it begs the question how active does the forum have to get before we can get split up like the Warmahorde group.

I mean if you rate us against the other game forums we are incredibly active. The two most active other boards encompass multiple games and we are quickly catching the boardgame forum.

IF CB/Infinity continues to grow at the pace it has been on for the last few years?

IF Infinity 3E and the starter box 'Operation Icestorm' does as well as we all hope it does?

Wonder if the Infinity/Corvus Belli section will ever make its way up the list of forums on the front page index?

Although, obviously the GW games have still got a massive numbers advantage. You only have to look in the painting or blogging section, quite often you have to turn a page to find something that isn't a space marine.

In my brief time spent looking over there, I've already noticed many of the same users along with many of the same bad attitudes.

I don't think it will be a place I end up spending a lot of time at, but who knows?

Maybe it will get better?

I may lurk there for info, but I have no intentions to participate on their board.

Perhaps I should learn Spanish and hang out on Warcors perhaps they are more civil

I don't think there are enough 'rules disputes' to have a separate "You Make Da Call" section - maybe combine it with army lists?

Have a 'general' discussion forum?

Rules/Army List ( we do get a fair bit of rule questions and how is the list questions)

I guess that means I'll need to grab the "combined combined army guide". Really useful to read through. I wish someone would save that one. Great unit breakdowns for everything in CA.

As well, I can stuff it in the folder next to my D&D character optimization guides when the WotC wiki got axed.

I think the 'death' of the Official Forums + Infinity's continuing rapid growth + the impending release of N3 and ICESTORM = enough to warrant a larger INFINITY sub-forum section...

Yes I would ask you could go one more step and Pm the author and ask for permission to repost here. I haven't has as much time as I like to PM all the ones we don't have access to (See Caseys Beginners link that sticked)

I can suggest it - though historically we haven't 'fragmented' the Painting Sections...

I don't actually have an account on the official forums. I just stumbled onto this thread by google back when I was first looking at the game.

I think the Community Showcase thread provides the opportunity to post minis or links to existing logs in the P&M section without having a separate P&M section for Infinity. Having threads in the main P&M section also means that non-Infinity players might come across stuff that they wouldn't see if it was only posted in an Infinity sub-forum.

The moderators did edit things too. I think it will take some time for them to sort everybody out.

I do miss the 'after hours' feel that DS had when it was a bulletin board style forum. DS may end up like, well, something like what I see here, where the 'characters' will inhabit certain sections, but not others, like the Infinity section, or the P&M section. Thankfully. I really like Dakka's P&M section. Best thing about the forum. Not that I am biased or anything...

A separate painting/terrain section for Infinity would be unnecessary. There are plenty of Infinity based threads in the P&M. Keep them there for all to see. If you segregate them, they will get less notice.

@NuclearMessiah-- Me da pena decirtelo, pero no*. The Spanish Forum members are not more civil at all. Same as the International.

1) "General Discussion and Rules Questions"
2) "Army Lists Scenarios/Batreps and Tactics"
3) "News and Events" and "Community Information" and "Miscellaneous"-- like tournaments, demo days etc. Perhaps a player finder of sorts and certainly all the useful links about missing parts etc.

Army Lists belong as a sub-heading of Tactics. We're not playing WMH or 40k.

I have to filter the rest of the content in P&M, it's why I also don't browse the general P&M on a regular basis and prefer more specific sites.

I really like the idea of a news/community/events/tournaments section.

I think one of the question marks for people concerning Infinity is finding an opponent, so it's a good idea to make this as easy as possibly.

It can also be tied into Dakka's own player finder.
