I'd rather have the Wolves, but the Brets are hitting 11 years old now. They are way overdue.

I remember this! I can't recall where, however. But it might be both SW update ALONG with the "vs Thousand Sons"?

Still, some proper Wulfen squads would be epic and fluffy (no pun intended).

I can see it now.. SW getting Preferred Enemy and Hatred vs. Thousand Sons and Mark of Tzeentch psykers?

I hope they tone down the wolf stuff. Wolftalon.. Wolfknight. It's all been said before, but let's face it- No one wants them to overdo it...

Happy for you SW players that love them! Hope Thousand Sons stuff will follow.

Maybe Chaos will get a Tsons supplement during the rumored August releases.

Didn't Crimson Slaughter come out when the Helbrutes were released?

Hm, I think you remember right Eldarain.

Unfortunately, I don't think TS will get a supplement. I'd expect Nurgle will. Of course I'll eat my words if they decide to hook us up.

I have tried to learn not to get my hopes too high during Chaotic rumor season. (Bought into the plastic Chosen/Havocs last time)

The mention of the Tsons there is very tempting but I'm trying to assume it's nothing (They could really use a boost though... so hope is kindled)

Yeah. On one hand, we want to say "Cool, TS are mentioned so maybe SW will be accompanied by TS supplement stuff!"

On the other hand, we all remember the excitement when there was a new sculpt for the Thousand Sons rubric marine helm (Thunder Wolf Cav and TW Lord, of course). Everyone was all "TS stuff is imminent!"

So we shall see.

On a side note, I hope Lone Wolves go away. It's very annoying to fight 20+ of them in an Unbound SW army. Not because they're effective or anything... but because watching the player waste time by rolling runs and difficult terrain for each individual model is excruciating. : D for all you who only use one or two, sorry if they go away, haha.

Just kite them for 5 turns, don't fire a single weapon. At the end of the game, you get 20D3 Victory Points!

Not sure if it matters too much because I only stumbled across it accidentally but in the Space Wolves 13th Company, their assault specialists are called Storm Claws. Bad choice for the latest campaign by GW or some extraordinarily obscure reference? It can be seen on Lexicanum and all that. On phone so I can't link.

I'm not sure that's how the Lone Wolf rule works. It's a little more specific than that.

According to the SW faq at least

There are only so many combinations on the spinner wheels that GW uses to name things. Storm Claws are obviously generated by the same mechanism that gave us all the SM flyers.

They've changed that rather radically now, and I'm not a fan. The old version of the rule was much better, I think.

I figured as much. It had SW in it so of course they needed to add Wolf, Tail, Rune, Fang or Claw in there somewhere.

I feel like Games Workshop really needs to go balls to the fething wall with the next Space Wolves release and just release a new model that's basically a polar-bear wearing lightning claws with shoulder-mounted autocannons.

WS5 BS3 Str6 T5 W3 I3 A3 Ld6 6+sv

Can be taken in units of 5 and may deep-strike with no explanation given.

From Stormclaw:

ere is a third book coming out called Sanctus Reach: Hour of the Wolf

Hengist & Egil gain an extra attack.

Blood Claws still WS3 BS3 (same for Egil) and have rage.

Judging by the box Canis and his giant space hamster are here to stay.

I know what you mean about Uber grit, I still hope we haven't lost it. Head strong wasn't really a problem because you could always get around it.

Like in the new ork codex all units come as dataslates, so it should be no problem using him as HQ. Maybe you can even "build" your own Krom with the current SW codex, but I don't have it to make sure. He costs the same as a Ironclad Dread his stats are 6/5/4/4/3/5/4/10, 3+. He is quipped with a Boltpistol,Frag and Krak grenads and the belt of russ (4++). also he has a wyrmtalon, his +2,AP2 mastercrafted axe. USR: ATSKNF,counterattack, furious charge, acute senses, stubborn. His warlord trait is (translated) "Saga of the born warrior": He has to make challenges and accept them whenever possible but can reroll all to hit rolls if he fights in a challenge.

The rules for Krom are covered in the other post, so I'll give you those for Grukk: 5pts cheaper than Krom, 5/2/5/5/3/4/4/9,4+. He has a (excuse me if I don't properly translate the ork weapons, I don't know all their english names) combigun with bazooka, a squig that lets him reroll 1 to hit die in close combat, a bosspole and stikkbombz along with his special Gitripper, a x2,AP2, rending energy claw. USR are green horde, ere we go, furious charge, feel no pain and can call a Waagh. His warlor trait is "roaring tyran" which lets him and all friendly ork units in 12" reroll failed morale or pinning tests.

Judging by the language issues, this seems to be a cut and paste reply from some other source, so its not as reliable as the guy actually having seen it

Right I have the box set sat in front of me.

The rules for Krom are correct.

What I am worried about though is that the grey hunters don't have BP, BG and CCW as standard! By Russ I hope this isn't the case when the codex comes out!

Erg, not liking Sagas as Warlord Traits. :-\

Yeah, Sagas were an inspired idea for the Wolf Codex. Changing them to something you roll randomly cinematically just sounds like a bad way to forge a narrative.

Honestly, with Space Wolves being my last army that hasn't seen a recent update, I was sort of hoping they'd be put on the back burner for awhile. Both because my wallet is hurting enough already, and because frankly I've been super unimpressed by the updates to the rest of my armies sans Imperia-... Astra Milisomethingorother.

Somewhat agreed. I love Sagas but we'll see how they handle it. Being able to buy or choose specific warlord trait would be very cool.

SPECULATION
"Space Wolf Detachment: Up to 4HQs, Each Independent etc can choose one Warlord Trait from the SW list and use it. Although you must choose one character to be a warlord, each IC can still benefit from their Warlord Trait."
Trade that for the Reroll Warlord and ObSec.

Is it too much to hope that the new Codex takes up some of the new GW naming conventions and is titled Vlka Fenryka?

Except it'll be High Gothic (aka. pseudo-Latin), so Astra Lupos Astartes or something.

Yea I hope sagas aren't relegated to a random chart, I hate to say it, but it sounds so. At least special characters will have them set but it might suck if they only work on the actual warlord. However, its possible they took certain saga traits like saga of the bear for example and made it into an artifact, that and the iron wolf one wouldn't make much sense on a warlord chart but the others would all fit.

Also holy crap is broms axe awesome. I am guessing again that this will be the new frost blades profile and again will become a relic.

No matter what I am excited, but it is a nervous feeling since SW are SO unconventional as I feel that leaves them wide open for unnecessary changes.

If only the AM/IG hadn't nabbed the "Valkyrie" name. That totally should have been a SW unit of some kind.
