You may not have to, just remember you won't get all three (Bolter, BP, CCW) without paying extra.
LOL at all those (mostly at Natfka) bitching about this. GH have acutes senses and counterattack. Did you really think they were going to get CHEAPER?
Worth mentioning is that Acute senses hasn't really done anything for most SW units(including Grey Hunters with some small exceptions) in 2 editions now, it's not the same as 5e in case you missed it(not an insult, some people don't know).
True, but counter-attack alone justifies GH being more expensive than regular SM.
Interesting, do you consider counter attack to be worth more than FNP 6+ in an edition of shooting?
I guess if you play against a lot of Orks or Tyranids(not that even tyranids assault anymore), it could definitely be worthwhile.
I don't think GH should be cheaper than Codex tacticals, but if they lose true grit I don't think counterattack is worth more than what Codex chapters have.

I'd definitely say CA is better than a 6+ FNP, shooty edition or otherwise. It makes SW so much more dangerous from a tactical standpoint. You drop them in, and the enemy have the following choices:
1) Endure a turn of fire, charge, and take Overwatch and 3 attacks per man.
2) Endure a turn of fire, shoot them, don't charge, get shot again, get charged.
Either way the Wolves can perform well, where most units tend to specialise in one or the other. The Wolves can act or react in any situation, and the enemy is in a lose-lose situation.

That answer should be obvious, but in case it isn't and you were actually asking a serious question:
6+ anything be it FNP or a ++ save is a joke that is only good for a few laughs between you and your opponent when it actually goes off.
Counter Attack makes your troops resistant as hell. You don't have to choose between firing your weapons or making an assault for the extra attack. And yes this is "shooty edition" but guess what people still assault, especially TEQ armies and daemons.

I thought we were speaking of rumored new GHs, without having true grit setup. I definitely agree 3 attack GHs are worth more than any other tacticals...sorry for my confusion.
I stand by 6+ FNP permanent being equal to 1 extra attack IF someone happens to assault you though.
That's whats interesting and unique about 40k compared to say PC games, people obviously play much different metas everywhere.

Oh, right, I see what you mean now. I still reckon CA is better as its still doubling your attacks when you're charged. 6+ FNP is nice when it works, but not something you can really use tactically, whereas CA works to make the unit a threat in more ways and can make the opponent think differently. CA is active, FNP is passive, and I tend to prefer active abilities from a tactical standpoint.

I think CA (useful) and Accute Senses (worthless) was about equal to Combat Squads (situationally useful) and Chapter Tactics (situationally useful).
Still, if I'm reading this right, when that 10 man grey hunter squad jumps out of their Drop Pod they'll be able to fire up to 5 plasma weapons at the target. That's pretty sweet in a basic troop choice regardless of their special rules.

Ummm... What?! Pretty sure combat squads and CT like hit and run are much better then counter attack.

People will whine, GH needed a nerf and this is all-in-all as reasonable a nerfing as I could have hoped for. Hopefully I'll have the option to pay extra for a CCW though.
And I modelled almost all my GH with BP/ CCW anyway since then I could run them as Blood Claws if I wanted to. Interested to see if the 2x PP rumour ends up being true.

I have no problem paying 15ppm then +1-2 for a ccw. Not having the option will be a bit annoying however. It is already sad we will lose the bility to lead a unit with a termjinator but I am not surprised by this change. Hopefully a Mark of Wulfen is still an upgrade in there.

However, from the rumors I have seen from The Mexican ork, and BOLS
Sagas as chapter tactics are super fluff oriented and sound really great, they however need to have stipulations for taking instead of pick and choose.

The supposed Stormfang Gunship sounds very odd fluffwise - I'd have expected something closer to the Land Speeder Storm, but with more guns and transport capacity, so that a unit of Space Wolves can fly into combat while singing "Ride of the Valkyries" . I suppose it's just possible the Stormfang can carry 10 marines, but surely then it wouldn't be called a gunship???

Well as a DA player, I'm not super excited about the fliers we got - there by not using one and thus far have been able to perform well enough.
I am still stoked about getting a Blood/Sky Claw army up and running, but we'll see how the transport options come about and what options Longfang/HS slots will have access to.

I'm kinda thinking the same thing about the Blood/Sky Claws. Looks like Krom (of Stormclaw fame!) will be a pretty good HQ choice for such an army, at least from a fluff perspective. Lots of young hot-heads and a higher-than-average number of Wolf Guard to support them. Sounds good to me!

I would recommend using WG in jump packs for your assault marine needs, I love assault pack marines but the Skyclaws cant cut it with low BS/ WS imo, I ran WG in jump packs last night, and they preformed wonderfully!

If you weren't already thinking that, you haven't played enough Space Wolves
I don't know about anyone else but as much as I'd love a cool new flyer model, I'm really not overly fussed about it. I'd be just as happy with some anti-air, especially if it meant that this thing on the GH is wrong.
And I know it's disproved but I'm still a little let down that Rune Warriors isn't going to be a thing
I'd still like for Blood Claws to get a boost into usefulness. I'd definitely start fielding more of them.

Probably, but if it wolfs like the DA flyer wolfed, there's going to be a lot of Wolf players wolfing their wolfs, and forcefully too.
