A big thanks to DCannon ForLife getting in a game with me this past weekend and going through the effort to put a Battle Report. Its was greatly appreciated.

Note: My initial turn was spent thinking Shadow Weavers had a Large Blast and that the Suncannon was only 36". I should have pressed forward much earlier and spent the rest of the game trying to recover from that.

It was a great game, and a big thanks to DCannon ForLife for meeting me in the middle for a game and going through the effort of doing a Battle Report. I appreciated a competitively minded game and NOVA Practice.

It was great to see your list in action.

That Missile Pod/Markerlight/Buffmander unit you were telling me about looks very formidable. I'll definitely have to keep that config in mind.

Are those Alien Temple bases you're using?

Any thoughts on your deep striking suits? How did they do compared to your other test games?

Glad you enjoyed the Bat Rep.

Yeah, its a formidable unit. It really brings a lot to the list, but its expensive and can be taken out by anything that can get around the BuffCommander, LD attacks, Barrage, DS, Outflank, etc. This unit has been hit or miss, the two games I've lost one I failed a LD to Terror and lost them off the board, another game I failed 3/4 2+ Armor Saves, 1/1 4+ Invulns, 1/1 Look Out Sirs, and 4/4 FNPs on the Commander losing him to the first 5 wounds put on a unit. Otherwise, in every other game the unit has performed very well. Putting 3 Tides down with the BuffCommander Tanking unit on the board makes it very difficult to hurt for most opponents. I've seen the unit complete whiff and run off the board, and I've seen them take out four vehicles a turn plus mark another for destruction.

Yes, they are Alien Temple bases. Five of those Crisis aren't finished as I recently added a gob more Crisis options to the army as a whole and they are awaiting being finished and based. I made a display board that matches the Alien Temple Bases, and together it looks pretty sweet.

My DSing units, I usually only DS the two Fusion Squads and the Burst squads. I almost always walk on the Twinlinked Missile Suits and the Firewarriors. The DSing fusion can be hit or miss, but usually hit hard then die. When I have Markerlight Support for them, they are phenomenal, but without they can be mediocre. For instance the Dual Fusions only had 2 hits and dealt one wound to the Wraithknight. Fortunately, the Burst Suits got really ridiculously lucky and managed to get three wounds through saves which was kind of shocking. Overall, these units would have been much more effective had I pressed forward and had Markerlight Support for them.

Yeah I can see that. Your forward drop elements would have been much more effective with support.

I too went with the Alien Temple for my Tau suit army. still undecided on how to paint them. My suits are going to look a lot like your opponents scheme actually. How did you do yours?

Your poor Commander, that's a really unlucky streak.

I don't remember the colors off hand but it is super simple and looks good. Prime Black, coat in a Dark Green. Heavy Dark Wash. Highlight edges in a lighter green. Highlight points in a bright green.

I like the mobility of your list. That's one of the advantages of Farsight from the FE over Farsight from the normal Tau codex. Have you considered putting 1 target lock in each of the fusion units?

Thanks. I like having 7 OS units which are flexible in deployment and 6 of which are mobile. It forces my opponent to either target my firebase which is incredibly durable, or target my OS Scoring, which usually is not on the board until T2 and is mobile enough to make that difficult. If they target my Scoring, they have to weather my Firebase, if they target my firebase, they have to hope to survive it with enough time to take out my scoring before I get theirs.

I have, but I feel they are far too unreliable without Support. With only one source of Markerlights in the army I feel I need four shots to be even remotely reliable. Without support two Dual Fusion Suits still miss 6% of the time where as a single Dual Fusion Suit misses 25% of the time, not including failures to Wound/Pen and Saves. Plus, points are pretty scarce in the list ATM, I don't have much wiggle room. Without support I often find 4 Fusion Shots not nearly enough for comfort.

Excellent. That sounds like it won't be too hard to replicate and I really like how it looks against the light color scheme.

I forgot to mention I really like your use of the drones as Fire Warriors to maintain the theme of the list. It was the only part of allying the Buffmander that I didn't like so I might have to steal that little inspiration.

Thanks again for your thoughts on a Suit centric list and the Batrep

No problem.

For the Firewarrior Drones I used a Crisis Shield generator. Then used one of the drone Twinlinked pulse Rifles which already had a whole that fit the stem. Then I used part of a sensor bit for the end of it. I like them too and it allowed me to keep the theme.

Painting the temple bases is easy, if you look at my gallery I have a better picture of when I took them to the Renegade last year, should be able to see the bases better there.

Perfect that army shot was very helpful. For the Fire Warriors perhaps I could use the Drones that came with the Riptide with some work done on them. I don't really intend to field them as intended and I'd only need to find 2 more for a 6 strong FW unit.

I went with the small shield components as Firewarriors are much more fragile, so I figured they represented T3 Firewarriors well.

I like this style of report; fairly succinct explanation of what happens each turn while viewing the tabletop.

I also like both lists. Both appear to hit pretty hard and still remain within the 'fluff' of the game.

Thanks for sharing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
