Well I wouldn't say I liked it XD

I took an Art of Film class in Junior year for easy credits and had to watch a lot of movies. I liked Rashomon and 7 Samurai. Citizen Kane and 47 Ronin less so. I loved Strangers on a Train. Awesome movie.

The one I hated the most I don't remember the name of. It was about some telemarketers or something and they had this money in their office and someone stole the money and film is about all of them trying to figure out who stole the money. Soooo boring.

I'm one of those who can enjoy a movie regardless. I saw 47 Ronin when Saturday Fung Fu Action Theater was the rage for Saturday morning. Movie "Go for Broke" was another fav of mine. Stalingrad was a good attempt for realism of 6th Army. Young Lions with Marlon Brando was good.

Starblazer has not made it to Netflix

Netflix has had an on and off excellent collection of war films.

Downfall
My Way
Emperor
Saints and Soldiers
Black Hawk Down
We Were Soldiers
Beneath Hill 60

I think for a time they had Saving Private Ryan.

A friend of mine is a Netflix-holic and recommended quite a bit of good stuff such as In Bruges after we watched Seven Psychopaths and Hard Eight for some classic PT Anderson after There Will Be Blood.

Edit: I believe one of the better things about Netflix as I have been able to see more earlier works of notable people such as Barton Fink from the Coens that you won't seem to be able to find when I look for dvds.

I could never get into Justified, but damned if Netflix didn't help me find Hell on Wheels and Longmire. Good stuff.

I've been wanting to catch that. It'd be fun seeing Filch as the hero.

My guess would be Glengarry Glen Ross (Foley, 1992). They are real estate salesmen, many on the bubble, and someone breaks into the Manager's office to steal the Glengarry Glen Ross leads, which is like stealing money. It makes more sense if you have worked hard line sales where everything is commission based and you have to make cold calls and generate leads.

Kagemusha is an awesome classic samurai movie on Netflix. There is a newer movie called Masquerade that seems heavily inspired by the former, and is also a good movie.

I also like The Twilight Samurai and Samurai Insurrection.

Thanks to Netflix Instant I have seen a number of fun samurai movies. However, they don't have enough of them to feed my craving!

Check out Hara Kiri: Death of a Samurai if you havent already (dumb name, I know...I always wonder if there's something lost in translation in these titles). Awesome Samurai drama movie, and on Netflix streaming.

I'm with you, I can't get enough of Samurai movies.

I find myself watching a lot of documentaries on Netflix and many of them are quite good, I don't tend to rent them like I do with other movies but I'll watch them frequently on netflix.

Valhalla Rising, despite the bad title, was a good movie. Saw it on a whim on Netflix and it was an instant favorite for me. You'd have to enjoy slow, plodding stuff like 2001 to enjoy it, plus it s pretty rough with the violence at times.

Whoa whoa whoa.... an American saying they had a tough time with a violent movie!?!?! Stop the presses everyone!!!

On a more serious note, I saw this movie on the shelf when I was stationed in Germany, so was interested in it (the wife always said no), but I saw it was on Amazon Prime so watched it and I agree, it's a great film; But you do need to be able to pay attention even through slow moving plots... On the other side, yeah the violence of the film is definitely not toned down, or comic booked in any way.

Not a movie, but I am currently watching a series called, "Island at War". It's about the Channel Islands during WW2 under German occupation.
Pretty good.
