So basically what the topic says, are eldar vipers any good and how do you use them in your lists? Do you use them in 2's, solo?

Thanks in advance

No, they are not good.

10 more points will buy you a Hornet or War Walker, both of which are vastly superior.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Losing the free 5+cover save every round was a nasty hit. Theory I have: Use a squad of 3 with 2 shruken canons each in a wind rider formation for apoc. (Or regular but they are better in apoc). Have them go after heavy infantry and MCs. It's a 180 point unit with 18 S6 pseudo rending shots. There are better options but that might make then useful, especially with re rolled wounds in apoc.

S6 is the last thing an Eldar army needs, so I don't like the dual SC style.

They are still faster than War Walkers, which I prefer and to which they are most often compared to.
Take a squadron of 2-3, give each of them a BL and try to get shots in the enemy's side armor.

So you want to shoot a lance at side armor? Why?

How about you just take 1 with a scatterlaser and cannon, and a holo-field.
80 points, 3+ cover on the jink. Fast enough to grab remote objectives, cheap enough to be disposable, and sturdy enough (3+ cover) that you have to sink some real firepower into killing it.
7 shots means you might still get a hit or two when you snap shot.

I don't think that's useful. 3 jetbikes with a shuriken cannon are cheaper, faster, and have objective secured.

I routinely use a single or two-vehicle squad of Vypers with Star Cannons and Shuriken Cannons. I don't bother with anything else to make them more expensive.

I try to hold them back so that they don't give up First Blood, but after First Blood has been attained, I just use them to harass anything with a good armor save. Since they're fast they're also good at going to sit on unclaimed objectives.

Any shots my enemy is shooting at the Vipers isn't going after my Wave Serpents or War Walkers, so I pretty much count it as a win if they succeed at distracting the enemy. After 7th Edition came out, I've considered switching the Star Cannon for a Scatter Laser so that I can Jink and still hit something with it, plus get twin-linked on the Suriken Cannon.

As said, hornets are incredibly better. They are however forgeworld models and might not be allowed at some tournaments.

Our local eldar always has a squad of them and they are such a PITA when guided.
