That's some nice work man. It has been a long time since I cared about 40k stuff, but your work is very pleasing just the same.

Just finished 77 Mantic Zombies to use in my CSM and Renegade armies as Plague Zombies. I took a break between 1-51 and 52-77 because I had enough for gaming and had powered through a crazy build and paint week. These were a speed test for me since I'm not great at assembly line painting. I had to learn to not fixate too much and I believe I got a good line down with these.

Enjoy the pics!

By break, I mean I have three Renegade Russes and three Renegade Wyverns in progress. Hopefully I will finish those next.

I have a friend who is a professional welder who took me up on building a metal table frame with another friend of mine. Here's the result of today's work.

The frame is 1/4"-1/2" thick angle iron, with 1 1/2" inset on top and 1" on bottom. The struts are 1" c channel beams for support. The top inset area is a neat 72"x48" .

Since I can't haul this, I'll have to wait until next week for it to arrive at my house where we will drop a 72"x48"x1/2" sheet of plywood in the top and 2 36"48"x1/2" sheets in the bottom. The plan is to have removable terrain insets, mats, or felts, with the lower for storage. Also planning on painting the fram black with hazard stripe legs.

Project: "I Believe I Can Fly" is complete. I have completely redone the basing on the Nurgle Prince my wife painted for me years ago to now be a flyer.

Behold, and be jelly, Tzeentchians!

The base was hand made from:
- Pegasus small bricks
- cardboard sheet (non-corrugated)
- Milliput terracotta
- swizzle straws
- swizzle sticks (extruded x)
- spare Testor's cement tips.
- GW dead grass - sand
- Woodland Scenics water effects (flowing)
- Woodland Scenics realistic water (standing)
- water tinted with Nurgle's rot technical

Wait wait.

A Monster Magnet themed army?

How have I never seen this before?

I guess I should have looked to my orb for the warning.

The defiler is phenomenal, by the way.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Music is definitely something which inspires me to paint, and Magnet is generally the music du jour for me. I've also taken a recent spike of interest in Jojo's Bizzarre Adventure which is having an effect on my color choices (I'm almost done with another project).

Meanwhile, I'll tease what I built a couple months ago and is queued for paint...

Hey guys, I finished my next project: a Khorne Daemon Prince to flush out an Infernal Tetrad

A quick informal group shot:

And a bonus! I modeled up a Grotti the Nurgling artefact marker from the Glottkin kit's mini Glott-nurgling.

In the mean time I've been assembling a few things....

5 exalted flamers
1 Start Collecting: Daemons of Nurgle
1 Skullthrone
3 Skull Cannons
and 1 mantic zombie I found in the wash, after losing him prior to painting the others last fall... lucky guy.

I went to work on the IK: Renegade box but had to stop after the first step due to hand fatigue. Hard to model stuff when your middle finger's joints lock up. But definitely excited to be expanding a bit.

Well after a bit of a hectic couple of weeks, I finished up an Imperial Knight: Renegade box set as well. So I have a pile of gray to start painting, just in time for my Sotar 20/20 to get back from repair!

The knights are completely loadout swappable and articulated on every joint I could. I installed axle pins for elbow hydraulics, for example, but I didn't want to rebuild the statically posed hips and knees. Most of the armor plating is standing by for paint prior to attachment. Planning an Alpha Legion paint scheme.

EDC: I've got some stencils in to use in place of my home made hex pattern I've been using on tanks/heldrakes. Eager to see how they turn out. More specifically the Reptile Skin and chaos star stencils from Fallout Hobbies http://www.fallouthobbies.com/stencils

Unfortunately, I found my Stynlrez white too gunky to prime much this morning and ended up having to clean both my airbrushes. Went for the old rattle can stuff and found my can of white to be complete junk (old/heat/etc) and my black empty.

Frustration, but fuel to move on.

Priming is moving, though slowly. Meanwhile, I've been reading into Hirohiko Araki's color palettes and have been having fun brainstorming with a color wheel: http://paletton.com/#uid=31i0Y0kllokdWv3hXrvo7lCrsiD
Daemons have been fun since they do allow me to get crazy with color and it just feels right. Hopefully, I can get weirder.

Alright, part of my batch just got knocked out by basing my four new chariots for a Gorethunder Battery. In my scheme, I've done dry lakebed again and have step by step pictures.

I'll start by showing how the chariots are pinned to the base. I found I didn't need any glue by straightening out a paperclip, making a Z-bend, turning the ends upwards/perpendicular to the bend, and pinching them towards each other slightly. The chariots are now removable for painting/play with no mess. You'll see the upward pins, but here is the undercarriage:

First step for basing is to PVA glue down some sand and form some channels and runnels where our dried mud will settle. The chariots stay on for this step to make sure their wheels and contact points are clear. Drilling through PVA/sand ruins bits quickly. Here is a top down.

Next I removed the chariots and primed the bases black. Then I filled the runnels with Aggrellan Earth technical paint.

The result after an overnight drying. The texture results from unevenness of the paint, which is good and lets me be sloppy.

Next, I airbrush the sanded areas with Vallejo Model Air Olive Drab, blending the edges in a bit to transition from dry to moist

Drybrushing the sand with Eldar Flesh gives the dirt a dryer, crunchier look next. Can be sloppy here too, just being mindful of damaging the technical paint.

Dabs of PVA and dead grass style flock are applied next.

Final step is to hit the base with a dusting of matte clear coat, mainly to protect the cracked earth and the flock. Here is a close up including the mounting pins.

And here is the base with Skull Cannon attached. No glue added to allow me to continue airbrushing the cannons/throne later.

In addition to knocking these bases out, my knights are primed and ready for color next.

Great looking basing! I think Agrellan Earth looks best when combined with other types of basing and you rocked it.

Well, it's been hectic and raining every other day. Along with finding my white primer complete gunk as well as another bottle of airbrush paint turning to complete splatter in the humidity, I managed to get everything primed, and lay down the metallics for my knights. On top of that, I did some test runs on the top plates and shoulder plates. Once it's a bit more dry, will gloss coat them to prep for stencils.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay, the Fallout Hobbies stencil worked as advertised and pleased with it. Here are my initial results.

To be continued over and over....

Applied a handmade stencil (white/aluminum shade) and did some trim work to get a better idea of overall look. Not entirely happy, but good enough for table. Have a second knight to do, so learning from mistakes.

More airbrushing done. Notably base coated all loose parts to prep for handwork or further stencilling. Did some work on these crests, but really dissatisfied with the end result after what i did post photos and redoing later. Liked the stencil and shine though, so there.

And dryfitting one of them:

And it really looks interesting under the bluish LED lighting in my hood.

Well, besides touchups or the underslung banners which I am undecided on, I have completed airbrushing all parts for my two knights. Here's a dryfit side by side.

Well... on to detail, washing and trim work.

I've been progressing on my knights' trim and washing. Meanwhile, since I was washing yesterday, I washed all of those daemons I've assembled for their basecoats. I decided to try something fun color wise for my drones and I think it works.

Thoughts?
