Just wondering, what's that one model you have always wanted/loved, the best GW has made? Personally, I love the terror of arnor and the Balrog.

I've always wanted but never bought then Witch King on Fell Beast (the most recent/plastic version). Awesome model that perfectly captures the character.

Others would be the Grimhammer dwarves and the Rivendell cavalry.

Just thought of a few more. Boromir of the White Tower with the banner is completely epic, and any of the named Wraiths are very cool.

I love the Mumak so much I bought 5 Mumakil!

The named Nazgul are all exceptional.

Eomer, Marshall of the Riddermark ltd sculpt.

It's quite hard to narrow it down, really, in terms of consistent quality, LOTR has got to be overall one of the best ranges ever made by any company (especially if you ignore a couple of those elf sculpts like Arwen)

Even generic beasts like the metal Isengard Troll are just brimming with character.

I'm a big fan of the Kingdoms of Men miniatures. Before LotR I never really had an appreciation for human figures, I preferred the stompy monsters and aliens. Now I love the bog standard men and women in all games. I love the Last Alliance set as it was my first LotR purchase, but my favourites are the Citadel Guard, all the Rohan line, Rangers, Warriors of Arnor, Axemen of Lossarnach and Clansmen of Lamedon, with most of the various Elven troop and cavalry not far behind.

If I had to choose just one, my favourite models are the Guard of the Fountain Court.

The Sauron Miniature looks sweet. And the Mumakil.

As for army flavor, the fallen realms. I just love the look of a bunch of haradrim, mahud warriors, half trolls, and other weird stuff lined up against an enemy.

I've always loved the named cave troll- I can't recall his name, but he's wearing patchwork armour and wielding a big sword. I think he's an awesome "bandit troll" archetype.

Gandalf the White on his horse. The first version of this miniature. It was very well sculpted and despite not being that big in size, it eminated a "force" and despite him being an old man, he really looked powerful...just like Gandalf in the books.

As an Easterling player my favorit model is without a doutb the dragon knigths, it radiates a sense of forboding and such.
I currently own five of these grim warrior priests

Beside that I really, really, really like the Rohan cavalry models, they are without a doubt my favorit cavalry models when it comes to non historical figures.

Going through some of my old stuff earlier, I came across another favourite. The original Uruk-Hai Captain mini. He has a great sense of power to him despite a fairly static pose, and just has something about it I can't quite put my finger on. The one on the left here:

There are so many models that I like from The Lord of the rings range.
I have a soft spot for the witch king on foot as it was my first games workshop miniature and actually the first miniature I had ever purchased years ago.

I also like the Dark Marshal which I don't own. Also I like the black númenor warriors.

Very nice models and I'd like to buy some more buy I don't play lord of the rings often but would like to more. Maybe I should get back into it (I have tons of basic troops and the rulebook the old blue one)

This guy.

Spoiler:

I'm going to paint the dead guy to match the colours of my Fall of Arnor era Arnor army (an Aranarth converted out of an Aragorn mini and using the Halbarad profile, Malbeth, Warriors, Rangers, Dunedain etc) and the back story is that the Warg Chieftain killed the brother (the corpse) of one of my Captains (a converted Cirion with a Warg pelt fur cloak).

i have collected nearly all the major charecters, fav maybe gandalf the grey, models i am yet to buy but want badly is the nazgul on fell beast, was never i big fan of the named nazgul other than the witchking and kamul but only cos they are the only named ones, there are only snippets of who the others "might" be.
the battlecry trebuchet, its the only seige engine i dont have, the balrog and shelob, the last two i would love to use for first and second age games, gothmog and ungoliant

My favorites from the range are the Rohirrim and Uruk-Hai (the "Scouts" mostly, but the others are OK too) since these are the ones PJ probably got closest to Tolkien's intended look.

I thought the Mûmakil were good, but I found the Howdah to be too distorted by the movie version, and it is taking me forever to hack it down to size (the miniature version is too wide, but this is probably to accommodate the miniature bases for the figures inside it - I will be gluing my crew in place, since the Mûmak will not be used for the SBG).

And the Easterlings get an Honorable mention (and hopefully a Chariot, eventually).

I loved and still love the easterlings - They were my first army, unfortunately I sold most of them off years ago. However, I'm also quite fond of my fighting Uruk-hai - I like organized ranks of armoured evil troops, it seems

I also really like Sauron the Necromancer, even though I've never used him, it's got a really great feeling of movement and threat behind it.

I really wonder why they don't make an army for the Necromancer?

The movies really cocked that whole situation up, because the Necromancer was using a combination of the corpses from the Dead Marshes, and those at the Gladden Fields as a source for his "armies."

He would have had a pretty typical Necromantic Army of Skeletons, Zombies, Wights, and such. Maybe not the Valley of the Four Winds Skeleton Army of minifigs fame, but I imagine it would have been pretty fearsome, with Sauron as the Necromancer, Khamûl and one other Nazgûl as the leaders.

But I hear you about the Easterlings. They do look impressive.

That is interesting, I honestly never knew that, while all Necromancery, he actually had armies of undead at his disposal.

The Angmar sourcebook does feature something like that, with Wraiths, Wights, Shades and Spectres, but no skellies/zombies (although I guess you could proxy them with Orc rules). The Spectre models in particular do look great:

Giant spiders were not the reason that Mirkwood came to be known as that.

The spiders were a side effect of all the undead roaming through Southern Mirkwood, and regularly assailing the borders of Lórien.

So... The "Necromancer" could only be known as such because he was doing something noticeably Necromantic that upset the world.

Fortunately, he was unable to really leave Dol Goldur to take the field with an army of undead, but he could have easily assembled one at Dol Goldur, or sent one with Khamûl to Lórien, if the urge struck him to do so.

Everything? Seriously i love almost all of the LotR minis and it's hard to tie them down! Haldir's elves are pretty sweet or the Guards of Calas jytvysigvugb... Lothlorien Elves with pikes... Also love Elladan and Elrohir as well, the old sculpts with cloaks and light armour. Khazad Guard are beasty as well...

As i said, there are few things i dislike...
