Which offers far more games than a couple sports games, Battlefield and some game I've never heard of, but apparently has a sequel.... I would imagine that the "only" way that Sony would add this "service" to the PS line, is if EA revoked the ability of Sony to put EA games on the PS+ system.

I'm not all that impressed with playstation now either. I was thinking it would be along the line of netflix but the prices they want to charge for a few hours rental is nuts.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. You can do something that benefits their eventual service and the customers at the same time. This does, and as Sony has done with the PS4 from the start, their general attitude is towards consumer friendly practices (like not double-dipping on subscription and service fees, something that cannot be said for Microsoft).

What exactly are you getting "double-dipped on" from Microsoft right now?
I get that you don't like EA and Microsoft, but depending upon how this plays out it is either going to be you paying $29.99 for a year(or paying $4.99/month and paying $59.88 for a year) and getting brand new, full games(which is according to EA their plan with Dragon Age: Inquisition in November) for half the price of a single game...with discounts on DLC.
The caveat? You only have access to the games while subscribed to the service.
Please. Explain to me how that is "double-dipping". If you do not need to own the physical game, potentially you do not even need to own a Live Gold account(the FAQ has not cleared that answer up yet--it might require one or it might not) to access the EA Vault service how are you going to say this is double-dipping?

Besides, for the games that are on it now you more than likely will want to have Gold anyways.

1. I have to pay my ISP each month (which I do anyway, because I have PCs and other internet using devices)
2. I'd have to pay for Xbox's online "service" (which is fething stupid, since Im basically paying for an ISP, on an ISP)
3. you now want me to pay, AGAIN, to use another online "service" ??
With playstation,
1. Paying for ISP
2. I have the OPTION of paying for Playstation Plus (which I dont)
3. I'm not even asked to sign up for this ridiculously frivolous "service" just to play a couple games I more than likely already have.

For PS4 you require Playstation Plus to play online...
Xbox Live Gold isn't compulsorary, either. Besides, it's a very good deal if you don't have those games. But oh no, it's EA.

Don't act dumb because I know you're not. Double dipping is paying for a service, and then having to pay for another service to access that service. Up until recently Microsoft did it via X-Box Live, so subscription services that you accessed via X-Box Live were paid twice - once for the service in question, and again for Live. The PSN did it differently. If there was a subscription service you bought, you didn't need Plus to access it. You only needed Plus to access the Plus side of things.
Thankfully Microsoft reversed their decision on double-dipping their customers recently (along with virtually everything else they've reversed about the XBone), and that's a good step in the right direction. It's a step backwards they never should have taken in the first place, but at least they're going in the right direction this time.
Then along comes "consumer friendly" EA, with a new way to feth over people. They already foist their utterly unnecessary Origin service on us, and now this?

Everything I saw said you needed Plus on the PS4 to play online as well, though still not on PS3.

Perhaps this is the case, as I just tried to go online with FIFA and it said PS+ subscription required... beyond that, I don't have any other multiplayer online games.

Looking at what they are starting with, not sure its worth it, maybe if more games show up I'd be interested, but its not something I'm honestly going to do long term any time soon.
Regarding the console debates.. I really don't trust either company further than I could throw them to be honest. Sony have made just as many duff moves over the years, and made some oddly similar suggestions to what Microsoft got lambasted for at E3 last year in the past. It's going to be hilarious when the industry finally makes that step and Sony has to back track all their comments about the evils of Microsoft's original plans for the xbox one.
This coming form someone who has both machines.. not that there is anything really out yet that couldn't have just been a PS3 or 360 game of course. but meh.
Roll on Minecraft xbox one, I might play one of the damned things then.
