Man, I was three when my dad bought me a Slizer, the white one to be exact, which I then had three more I think, but all I have of those are the disks they came with. I collected pretty much every Bionicle up until the underwater ones came out, they were god damn terrible. I then got back into the Glatorian when they came out, loved the lore behind them and all that stuff.
Anyone still have those tiny CD ROM disks you got by chance with the original Toa? They were amazing pieces of cinematic gold. I still have them and the Bohrok CDs. That video by the way, wow, the guy who made the original Toa has an awesome mind.

Teridax (I only knew him as Makuta when until Metru Nui?) is THE villain of my childhood, nothing compared to him in terms of evil. I'm getting all nostalgic and I wanna dig my stuff out of the attic.

Bionicle? Back from the dead? Yes please! I loved the Lewa I had back as a kid, he never lost a bionicle match I ever had too when I used him to play against the other kids because I would use the mask from the Bohroks (who were themselves bloody awesome). Plus his axe was always able to hook their masks off.

Did anyone else here get a bunch of the Glatorian sets and have a giant thornax fight? I'm sure that someone out there has done something similar.

Well you've all succeeded in making me feel fething older than I should be feeling. Everyone's talking about being four to six when Bionicle came out and I was already in the double digits.

Here I thought Roboforce was the best part of my childhood, guess I'll just go sit in the corner playing shuffleboard and yelling at those dang kids to get off my lawn.

Oh well, always glad to see a fun lego series get an update it deserves.

I do recall making up rules for Thornax dueling. One of my favourite features of their Glatorian was the HP counter wheel for just that purpose.

By the time the Glatorian were around, I already had moved on (To 40K, actually), though I watched them with interest.

I loved exo-force; I turned one of them into a Lego-40k Dreadnought-Penitent Engine crossover.

Then all my Lego was thrown away because I was deemed too old for it, and not even asked if I wanted it thrown out. That was 3 years ago and I'm still really fething angry about it.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I had all of the Glatorian and their Matoran friends, they brought be back to Bionicle after I stopped collecting them. My friends and I had a load of rules for Thornax fights because Lego didn't do a great job on fleshing out the game itself. So basically we modified it so whoever went first didn't always win. So what was everyone's favourite Toa/Matoran?

I think I still have the Veezon and Fenrak model kicking around. Probably my favorite one with Makuta at a close second.

By the way, anyone ever make those combined models? You know, the ones at the back of every assembly manual with some unholy combination of two or three sets?

Yes, but I found making my own more fun. I made some ungodly scorpion super-monster out of various villains from several generations.

I made the Bohrok ones (I had all 6 Bohrok) and the 2nd design of Matoran one (The ones with the Kohli Sticks).

At one point I even downloaded some of the online instructions and made the combined Makuta one from the 1st wave of the Karda Nui sets

Those were fun...

I think I tried that too. I always had to give the creation mask-claws for some reason. I think I also made an arm cannon for my Rakshi when it's arm broke off.

I made all of the combination models like the Kaita and stuff but I took them apart because I missed having six Toa. The only combination model I kept was the Nui-Rama combo that the Le-Koro matoran used in Mata Nui the Online Game. Possibly one of the first games I played and that was on dial up!

I always liked Toa Tahu, and in The Mask of Light, Onua was a complete badass, bringing a mountain down on a couple of Rakshi. Of the later ones, I liked Matoro from the Inaka and Lewa in the Phantoka. The best, though, had to be Kardas, made from a combo of Axon, Brutaka and Fenrak and standing about 2 feet tall!

Not Exo-Force! ROBOFORCE, you young whipper snappers. Back in my day our robots came in big, blocky bodies and used wheels to move their legs.

I remember when Robo Raptor and Robo Raider had feet that could shift back and forth, we nearly crapped ourselves out of excitement over legs that could move. None of this "individual leg joints", you young'uns have now.

I am excited! I really hope they don't screw this up. Honestly Bioncle was the only LEGO setting that had great (and fairly well thought out) lore (well... at least until the final few series, they got weird.).
Speaking of lore, assuming LEGO does that again, how will it work? I thought they ended it with the whole 'saved this weird planet, combined it with its moons and brought peace' thing.

Oh god that set was incredible. The bike was a pain in the arse though.

Though I always liked the Big rolly ones. I forgot their names. I rememember what they looked like, I remember the Tao and I always wanted to collect the little guys.

But I got out of it after Metra Nui. And went straight into warhammer 40k.

the Bohrok? I loved bionicle, I just couldn't afford any of the fancy ones when they came out, so I got the basic ones up to the Rahkshi, I think, and moved on to stuff I could afford, like video games or warhammer. I still kept up with the storyline, though.

Man they really went all out with Bionicle.

And continued the storyline with each new wave of models.

I think I miss that in alot of things. Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. But for bionicle it was one of the few that got it right. They added to it. They made it more heroic and more desperate, even with the power creeping.

But yeah they were expensive.
