I mean classic classic, Like maybe '90s or even '80s. I'm dying to know what they looked like or how they were packaged!

I have a squad of them. IIRC, they came in a box of 30 for something like £10 and were GW's first plastic kit I believe.

Google RTB01 - that was the name of the box set. They still crop up on Ebay from time to time.

I had that and the empty box for quite a whole bit it got lost at some point which is a shame. For some reason they replaced these multipart figures with the 2nd mono pose ones which are inferior IMO. RT armies looking more varied with their plastics, a backwards step.

That's what I recall.
That kit was great, and pretty much what the current Tacticals kit comes with. It had fewer purity seals, etc, and no extra weapons, but was a fully pose-able box of 30 guys.
Add on a 3-pack of Rhinos for £10-12 and a boss and you're set.

I occasionally (ok, frequently) wax nostalgic in my blog. There are also a number of old minis lurking around in my gallery.

Besides the RTB01, they came mostly in blister packs, 3-4 to a pack IIRC.

I don't even KNOW anymore.

I still have a bunch. Apparently back in 1989 - 90 I unknowingly picked the Black Legion color scheme for my marines. Even down to the stylized "Eye" symbol. :/

I still have a bunch lying around. Sold off the metal RT guys long ago though. Even my SOB immolator was the old style Rhino chasis.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

I've got heaps of them, and loads of the metal figures from the same era.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

There's this site for a list of old minis:
http://www.solegends.com/citrt/index.htm

Note the 'needle gun' and 'jet pack' on the RTB01 box.

I'll add some of my old Marines to the Gallery later.
I have some Librarians, veterans/serg, and half a box of termies.

I got a bunldle of the sprues and models in a purchase from ebay. They were just tossed in extra, I guess the dude couldn't sell them.

I built 2, sold about 10 sprues worth to a local for a decent price (pretty much GW prices for new minis) and kept 2 sprues for myself.
Put those suckers in a shadowbox.

I have 80 beakies, and an original rhino for each squad. Most of the beakies are unassembled, and most of the rhinos need stripping.

While the 2nd Edition monoposes (that really only came with the boxed set) were pretty awful, the Rogue Trader beakies are pretty oddly shaped and overly skinny.

They don't hold up very well at all.

As you can see, they're spindly little bastards.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I started 40K in 2008 with 5th Ed, so most classic models were long before my time. But over the years I've bought loads of the classic metal Scouts second hand. I love the look and they're much more characterful than the modern plastics.

I must have almost 20 metal scouts (9 snipers, ~5 with shotguns, and 5 with boltguns and missile launchers).

Also have another 15 or so plastic Scouts.

As you may have guessed by now, I play Raven Guard.

Spoiler:

Image source: Google (not my miniatures).

While they are a bit smaller, standing them next to a marine that has been bulked up to true scale doesn't help. I just finished a modern mk. 6 HB marine to replace an old ML in one of my RT squads. Some of the difference is scale creep, other is posture.
