Its effectively done, but I never really thought of the Eldar as having kit that weathered.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I agree with you that eldar would probadly have clean shiny toys . I have been painting of lot of clean models lately and wanted to do some more realistic stuff again. I would imagine that through a course of a long campaign most things would b weathered and damaged

Amazing...
For the weathering what technique did you used ? The salt ? the sponge ?
The second stage it seems to me that the spots are more clear, did you spray another white layer ?

Please take a minute to vote our stuff on our cmon page! - our works

thanks for the great comments
I didn't use either of those techiniques.
I used a product called worn effect by ak interactive - paint the first layer of the colour you want to show through.add 1-2 coats of worn effect.allow to dry.paint the model then once your paint has dried use a wet brush and watch the magic happen. the water on the brush activates the worn effect underneath and you can slowly begin chipping the the top layer away leaving the first colour to show through.

and

I never spayed another whit layer . the first set of pics were taken at my desk and the second set were taken in a light box ( better lighting)

Very nice effect. Still not sold on weathered eldar stuff (unless it's a wreck) as the wraithbone is supposed to heal itself.

Awesome job though!

How did you do the cockpit glass?

I like it.

Stuff the fluff

I'm looking to get this AK interactive stuff now.

I've got some secret weapon powders, can I use them with the magic paint? Can you use spray paint and peel it off? How do you get the tiny little splatters or dots on your model, do you flick it on like from an old toothbrush ?

I imagine this stuff is very much like liquid masking agent that most hobby shops sell as it does the same thing. Very nice effect!

Morning peeps
I will upload pictures in a step by step style so you guys can see how i use the ak interactive as i do the main body of the vyper

with regards to the glass canopy i did as follows
I used masking liquid to mask off the the glass panels on the top side of the canopy leaving the cockpit beams exposed.then primed and painted.remove the mask leaving clear glass panels but painted support beams. I then used tamiya clear red on the underside of the glass to give it a red tint

A cheaper way to do it, without loss of quality is hairspray.

Undercoat
-let dry & cure
hairspray
-let dry but not cure
top coat
-let dry but not cure

Use a brush damp with water and a tiny bit od dishwashing detergent to achieve the same effect.

Hmm heard of this brand but haven't tried it being a brush guy at the moment. I use the GW washes, would it be equivalent to carrionburg crimson? Thanks a lot, going to try this for my war walkers and maybe my Crimson Hunter.

Afternoon peeps

so here is my progress so far and a bit of a tutorial

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I will take better pics in the light box soon
[Thumb - 1.jpg]
THE PRODUCTS - I maily use the worn effect but the heavy chipping is also good for larger areas

[Thumb - 2.jpg]
2. After priming the model i applied a layer of VMA rust , fiery red and us brown in random places . this is to give you variation in in the weathered effect when you start to remove paint.

[Thumb - 3.jpg]
3. I have given the model 2 light layers of the worn effect and waiting for it to dry

[Thumb - 4.jpg]
4. After the worn effect has dried we can bein painting . i began with pre-shading

[Thumb - 5.jpg]
5. First layer of khaki brown then light brown then ivory

[Thumb - 5a.jpg]

[Thumb - 5b.jpg]

[Thumb - 5c.jpg]

[Thumb - 6.jpg]
6. begin working desired areas with wet brush

[Thumb - 6a.jpg]

[Thumb - 7.jpg]
7. I began adding weathering pigments to selected areas

[Thumb - 7a.jpg]

[Thumb - 7b.jpg]

[Thumb - 8.jpg]
8. After sealing the pigments we have the reulst wich looks pretty sweet . on to the details
