After far too long accumulating parts and planning I have finally gotten momentum in my effort to build a pre-heresy fighitng force (between my obligations for class and work)!

The plan thus far is to build in large blocks, then paint. I will be posting my WIP photos as I work for your enjoyment and feedback.

Without further delay here is the first batch:

Land Raider Achilles I thought up back when betrayal came out and I noticed the Achilles was equipped with a thudd gun. The meltas in the sponsons are intended to be removable so once I can acquire some volkite culverns I can run it as an Achilles Alpha if I want.



Jetbike WIP for my killteam games. I have a few RT era jetbikes I am using, but the scale creep was too much, so I have opted to bulk them up and rearm them with the heavy bolters like the scimitar pattern.



Next is my first Basilisk. The idea behind this one is it was a custom basilisk commandeered by an enterprising techmarine. The gunsheild has been cut down to resemble the FW medusa seige mortar's sheild, the front armour form the manticore kit has been added on, and a loader servitor has been built to feed the earthshaker.

I built it from a trashed chaos land raider I picked up a couple years back. I found the extra track armour and front plate on ebay. The tracks came from Blood&Skulls Industries. I also utilized the chapterhouse iconoclast kit. The thudd gun was scratch built.

Update:

Land Raider Achilles has been completed.



The first jetbike is done, just needs a rider.





The Damoclese Command Vehicle is well under way. I think it just needs a TL bolter, and exhaust stacks.







Also built the whirlwind turret just because.

Death Guard will be my primary Legion, but I have ambitions down the road to have some Night lords, Iron Warriors, and Mechanicum as well as things progress.

Thanks! It ended up like that after some fiddling to see how I could put various parts of some Korean mecha model onto it along with some other bits and bobs. I'm happy with how it turned out.

Hopefully I can have some photos of the first Heavy Support squad up later this week. I'm working on a project at university right now involving designing my first injection moulded product. Unfortunately it has been eating a lot of time this week with the ideation sketching. The good news is it's a lot of fun with it as well, still I'll be happy to be more or less done with my part of the project by Thursday when we get to hand the designs off to the engineering students for mould production.

Sorry for the lack of updates/progress. University happened. I got some time to day to start on drilling out the missile launcher barrels. I have to say I am unhappy with the blob of mk VII all the missile laucher guys from the bits box are. I am seriously considering re-sculpting them to some extent. Opinions on such a direction? At the very least I would like to revamp legs and bracers.

On a side note my hobby ADD had kicked in and I've started accumulating bits and bobs for a mechanicus force. For that I'm really digging the idea of traditional mechanicus/IOM flavour with some confedewreacy of independent systems (star wars) droid army odds and ends mixed in.

Love the landraider, can't wait to see it painted up.

I just realized that I started on the recon squad about 14 months ago and forgot about them. I even found pictures.

The half painted squad. I remember now that I was rushing to pump these guys out for a kill team league they were running at a local shop and got hit by midterms and had to box it for the time. I'm not sure about them and they may go in the stripper now. We'll see if they can be salvaged.

Thanks! I'm an industrial design student at university right now so it seems to be the way given my budget and art/design education.

Last night I took a little time to try out re-sculpting some legs. I went ahead on a random starter marine I had in the bottom of the bits box that wasn't up to anything. I think that the angle on the plates isn't quite right Nor are they as smooth as they could be... I think I'm going to mess with them a bit more. Opinions on it so far?

Well, winter break is coming up and I'll have a month or so to tool around. My goals are to complete my heavy support squad, my next jetbike, and my first special character.

On that note, I need an iron halo. What kits have something usable to that effect?

Both the vanilla terminator kit and the space marine commander multipart kit have iron halos in them. There might be more, but those are what immediately come to mind. The commander kit is probably your best source for extra conversion bitz.

I'm slowly but surely making progress. I'm waiting on parts to replace some that I lost during my last move to complete a 20 man tac squad.

In the meantime I've gotten a Consul Chaplain cranked out over the last couple days. I just am waiting on the brass etch sheet to come in the mail then he'll be ready for the priming pile.





I did up his combi-flamer, which honestly took more time than I thought it would. I'm not 100% happy with the fuel tank. I may address it...

School is out for the summer, the big event I was running has passed, finally had some time to get back to the workbench. Been making progress on the 40 man tac squad blob. Gotten a lot of stuff stripped and one step closer to the assembly line. Today I finished out a kitbash apothecary/primus medicae. I magnetized his right arm and waist so I can swap weapons and put him on a jet/bike if I choose to down the road.

Been busy and broke the camera. Thankfully I've had some time in the last couple days to get some work done. Gotten all the parts for my 2 full size tac squads as well as 2 apothocaries and my siege breaker primed. Starting some preliminary assembly and stuff now.

A quick update.

WIP shot of my vindicator and delegatus consul. I did the vindicator as a homage to the MK I from rogue trader. The glacis is carved from RenShape high density foam board and the demolisher is obviously from the baneblade kit. I still have a lot of work to do on it. New smoke stacks, magnetize the pintle, add the bottom of the hull (i decided to just use a piece of plasticard rather than the original hatches for the bottom), and the back hatch. The it's over to the priming booth, which at this time is my window well.

This afternoon I made some Phosphex templates for some gaming this weekend. Thought I'd share since I don't see any others out there on the net. They print on 8.5" x 11", cardstock probably would work best. If anybody wants it in another format just let me know.
