So I realize being 22 and having 4 jobs, this one is unlikely to be the best job I have, but I am inspired to make this thread.
I work at a beer window at a waterpark with 5 other people. and I love it. Being 22 they give us alot of leewat, scheduling our own lunches, allowing us to take 20s instead of tens. They even let us eat in there so we dont go hungry(A No NO everywhere else in the park) Because we are all adults and we wont neglect customers for chicken strips. Supervisors said they fight for who gets look over Beer Window because of how laid back a job is. Our boss even is having us make a list for next year for what to sell.
But i also get to work with people my own age and talk to alot of them. My last job i was with crochety 60 year old ladies. But my boss this year. Working thr 4th of july? Free food for employees, Labor Day? Free Donuts and pizza. Hey, you guys can go on some slides before you leave.
Hell, I have yet to have a truly horrible customer.

Worked as a daycare teacher/babysitter whatever you wanna call it for a summer during college.

Gak wage, gak hours, but I've never felt better about a job I had. Got to take kids to planetarium, aquarium, couple pro sports games, to say nothing of all the movies, pool trips, etc. Best part of it was providing a stable positive environment for kids for a brief period , especially as it was obvious that for some of the kids , their home lives were in the toilet. Hope they all ended up ok. They all should be out of high school by now.

And now I feel very old.

Worked as a data center...person (?) at my last job. gak hours, meh pay, but I was free to do whatever I wanted.

Got several characters in WoW to 90, caught up on a LOT of sleep, watched several series on Netflix...caught up on even MORE sleep. It was awesome. By no means a career, but it was refreshing to know that because I showed up on time and did what little work there was perfectly, management would NEVER fire me.

Pay-wise the best job I have had so far was live-in assistance for a disabled person. I literally got paid to sleep at an apartment I shared rent free with the client. I was still completing my undergraduate degree at the time so as a full-time student and part-time worker the extra income earned while sleeping was glorious.

Most fun I ever had was either working at a bagel shop right out of high school or working for Hot Topic a couple years later. Lots of fun and shenanigans were had at both of those jobs even if the work itself was rather dull.

I stay after work occasionally to drink with my boss, travel the country, make 50k a year as a single guy, am allowed to drink a beer during lunch, don't have to clock out for lunch (didnt even when hourly), boss pays for lunch in office half the time, company pays all meals and hotels while traveling the country, and I get a feeling of goodness by being involved in bringing healthcare to the needy and to our soldiers. Yup, it's an awesome job (occasional backstabbery may apply).

I realize I set the bar pretty high with "paid lunch break that allows for beer"

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

One of the best jobs I had was working for the council cutting grass at local schools. No stress out in the sun, first sign of rain, out came the cards, and a cuppa. Good times.

^I did that too, Loki, in college/university. Sucky part was working with a-holes. That can be one helluva job or a nightmare, depending on your crew.

Compared to my normal job as a recovery mechanic, it was bliss.

Volunteering at Habitat for Humanity got to destroy the products that weren't selling at the "Re-Store" and we had these events called "salvages" where facilities that were closing, moving to a new location, renovating, etc would allows us to strip the place bare of any valuables.

My last job was simultaneously the best and worst job I've ever had. On one hand I got paid more than I have ever gotten by almost double, I was allowed to work as much OT as I wanted, the job was relatively easy, and I got to work with friends and family. On the other hand the owner was a bipolar Douche who would love you one day and then the next be belittling and abusive both verbally and physically.

I work in a data center as part of the facilities team. I came in to this job a year and a half ago after working 12 years in construction as a pipefitter. It's a pretty cherry gig: 12 hour days four days on, four days off switching from night and days. I don't do hardly anything at night except watch tons of movies, cruise the internet, and sometimes I bring models to work on. If I had a gaming computer, I'd bring that. I'm still in the pipefitters union so I have all the same benefits as I did before, just a lot less stress.

The only other job I had was a cart pusher for Wal-Mart in high school and it sucked.

If I'm talking fun factor, I'd say my best job was when I was in 8th grade working for a crop dusting company that operated out of an airport in Northern Maine.
We'd assemble and paint markers, then set them up in fields for the spray planes.
In between work, we'd get rides in planes and helecopters and swap dirty jokes with the pilots and felt like part of a fairly elite clique.
Cool stuff for a 12 year old.
Close second was when I lived in Iowa and on my high school wrestling team, we'd hire out in the summer, along with the football players to the area farmers for haying, as well as taking care of cattle and hogs. Hard work, but fun because of the company kept.

When I was 13 I got paid 100NZD a day to wear a Giant Inflating Hot Air Balloon Costume for a while during a school event. Had to hand out balloons to kids for some advertising.

Got free food and heaps of people taking photos of me etc. Lots of hugs too.

I also met my fiancee briefly oddly enough there too.

Never had a better job.

Define "best."

I mean, if we're talking about the job I'd most want to do if I didn't have to worry about money, I'd probably say cook/chef. I worked on a line when I was in college and I loved it.

It would be teacher if there wasn't all the bureaucracy involved.

For stability and building my family, it's my present one.

My most enjoyable job was the one I wasn't paid for. Did 5 years as a volunteer firefighter and worked my way up to medical training officer. Loved doing that and was heartbroken when racism reared it's ugly head and I had to leave.

But I also love my current job. Had my share of crappy managers there, still putting up with the usual workplace politics, and have to fight with residents fresh out of medical school that don't recognize when we are trying to save their asses. But I love what I do, I take it seriously, and I believe in our mission.

My best job was exporting democracy throughout the world and making sure my fellows had access to internet porn to make sure they didn't lose their minds.

Hard work, long hours, and a couple of close calls with mortar shells. But I got to fire a Mk19 a couple of times, so totally worth it.

best job was I ever had was weorking as a kitchenhand with the craziest bunch of people I have ever met, ,it was awesome.

I still remember the other kitchen hand (who had a theory that women with big dogs did certain unmentionable things with the dogs) who would walk up to us when a woman with a big dog went past and say "" ëxhibit A"" it still makes me lol when i think about it.

I'm curious how did the racism manifest?

I'd like to say that my best job was when I was the Workforce Manager of a small call centre, as that was a lot of fun, but really the best job I've had is writing freelance for FFG. Having 10+ published books with your name in them feels damned good.

I've been working for ADP as an HR Analyst for the last 3 years (fresh out of uni). So far I've been pretty happy with the job: flexible hours, good pay, everyone is super nice, and sometimes I get to fly around Canada to visit clients.

However, the best part of the job is being able to manage my own timelines/work schedule.

As I've only had three "real" jobs my choices aren't very great, lol.

Still, being a Security Guard was pretty legit. I was more of a glorified secretary than an actual guard- worked in an office High-Rise in downtown San Francisco. I got to wear a suit and sit at a desk everyday, checking in lawyers and swanky folks on business trips. I worked every shift over my three year tenure there, and swing-shift was my favorite. I'd wake up at 11am, attend college for a couple hours then go into work at 4pm. All of our bosses would go home around 5:30, we'd close the building at 6pm and spend the remaining 6 hours watching movies on our laptops, doing homework or flirting with the bored, lonely new-hires who got stuck working overtime for their gakky Tech Up-Starts. The pay wasn't great, but $16.50 an hour is pretty damn good for a 19 year old.

Gah... I'll never have a job that carefree again.

My last job was like that. Till I told the boss, if he spoke to me like that again, I'd kick him so hard up the arse He'd land on the other side of the industrial estate. Our working relationship improved after that.

Best job?
That's a bit of a tough one.
My current job, I'm paid an awful lot of money and I don't do very much, and it allows me to spend lots of time playing with my 7 month old daughter.
One of my previous jobs was as a deck engineer on an oil survey boat, Six weeks on/six weeks off, tax free work. The work was easy, and I was working with a great bunch of guys.
I also got to sail from the Falkland Islands to Cape town, work inside the Arctic circle, I sailed alongside a pod of whales for a whole day, watching the calves play in the wake.
That was a good day.

Here they are.

My best job was my first few years working for Social Security as a decision writer. I came in with a great group of guys that all kind of "got" the work quickly, so we were able to maintain our production numbers while being a little flexible with our breaks and lunches. Private offices, relaxed dress code, good pay, and great people. The work itself was often incredibly dull, but I've since learned that interesting work is often a PITA.

I worked at a Dollar General while I was at college, and it was a pretty awesome jobs. Everyone who worked there got along, and we're actually all still friends to this day (I left five years ago). The job was very stress-free, the pay was higher than minimum wage, it was two minutes from my house, had decent health benefits (considering the job), and it was more than flexible around my school schedule. It's a little different/less laid-back now that KKR took over the company, but still better than Wal Mart from what I understand

Can't do that kind of thing forever though and I rather like my current job working for a DoD research subcontractor.

In college I worked at an Indian restaurant- still the best Indian I've ever eaten. The boss was extremely generous with the food, and at that age you can eat anything...every lunch I had an absolutely enormous bowl of vindaloo or navrattan curry, along with a few kebabs and probably half a chicken from the tandoor. I used to take samosas home, too.

Later at the same school I worked in a bizarre section of the school library that my supervisor called the "hell room" that had materials too bizarre, pornographic, or otherwise weird to put on the regular shelves. My only job was to sit there and hunt stuff down for the rare patron who requested it. I essentially got paid six hours a day to read.
