Does anyone know of a good set of templates for making your own cards for home use?
Wife and I are starting out with Attack Wing and we'd like to try out building our own ships/crew/tech cards for things not in the current range, also so we can have a skill 9 Ben Sisko... because he's Ben Sisko...

You can have a 8 skill Sisko, fairly easily. The Collective OP2 came with fleet captain cards. They are a 5 point resource that boosts. Your captain gets an increase in captain skill, an extra ability that his ship or any shipmin his fleet can use. Plus they add 2 upgrade slots to your ship. If one of the upgrade slots is an elite talent and you captain already has a talent slot, they can either take a second or take one talent for free. So the fleet captain card can basically be free if yountake a 5pt elite talent.
The fed fleet captain is +2 to skill, that would make Sisko an 8. Throw Admiral Kirk on there and he can be a 10.

That seems great, but also very expensive to build vs a standard lvl8 captain?

If you give him a 5 point elite talent the fleet captain pays for itself. If the captain has a talent slot and so does the fleet captain then they get to take a talent for free. The fleet captain is 5pts, so if you are a fan of cheat death or sacrifice you basically can bump them up 2 skill levels for free.

I always thought Cheat Death was particularly 'Defiant' suitable. That's a great idea, thanks.

Cheat Death is very Defiant suitable. If you are interested in making some of you own cards check out the "variants" section on boardgamegeeks attack wing forum. Those guys come up with all kinds of stuff and I think they have some templates to download. Just FYI the forum us chalk full of adds so it sometimes takes a while to open and don't open it on a phone.

I find BGG very odd and cumbersome to use. I'll take a look though.

Agreed, it isn't very user friendly and there is virtually no moderator activity.

On the topic of customs what do you think of the ECH or Emergency Command Hologram?

Alas I can not take all the credit. I asked someone on BGG to make the card for me. I did make the captain token from the card image though. I try to use him whenever I need a generic captain.

That's awesome. Do they have a Jellico, Maxwell or Harriman?

I think someone made a Jellico. Haven't seen Harriman, but Maxwell is in the Yeager so we don't have to proxy him. If you haven't seen him he is kinda cool and the Federations only skill 7, unless you count the GenCon Sisko. But really only 8 people in the world have him.
