If you are ordering operation icestorm what are your plans to expand your force beyond the box

Will you be playing pan o, nomads or both what kind of lists and tactics do you plan to use the icestorm models with and why? Will you be buying new stuff to expand or using ice storm to pad out your existing armies?

Which models from ice storm will be the ones you use often and which do you think will likley be left out of your lists.

Figured it would be interesting to get an idea of now people plan to use the box set.

I think the majority of people getting it are to expand their existing armies (at least those getting it who are also on here). That's just due to each side having a number of model resculpts, namely the line infantry.

For myself I'll be using primarily the alguacils. I already have 2 spektrs and can't take 3 at once, but will probably use the OI one for variation/not taking a multi sniper rifle. The mobile brigada is the other unit I intend to use, also waiting on more units for it for its link team. But the reverend healer and grenzer probably won't be used much. They both seem more like sectorial units, so it really depends on what they do in their respective sectorial. If healers can link with Moira's I'd use her for sure, no more 50 point specialists in that link. And the grenzers are probably going to be Tunguska's Bach mari.

I'm just picking up the Nomad half as a new army... well, mostly new. I have a few models around anyway just because they're nice, and I'm thinking I'll expand from there into a Corregidor heavy force, keeping my options open to use it as either vanilla or sectorial.

As far as tactics and lists... not a clue, I don't know what N3 is gonna be like yet.

Nomads will just fill out my collection.

Pan O will be new. Already picked up the neoterra box, a Jotun, the aconcieamento box, and a few other things.

I'm going halves with a mate - he's getting the panO and I'm getting the nomads and I'll be adding some of the nomads to the nomads in my QK collection to form a vanilla (small) Nomad force (although the nomad stuff I do have consists of two Mobile brigada, 4 TAGs and 3 Alguaciles - so it won't be THAT small an army).

The Grenzer and sister of perpetual indulgence I have no idea what I'm doing with. Probable disposal at this point.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I'm adding to my PanO collection, but the guy I'm going in with is starting new into Infinity. He likes what they suggested on some of the unboxing videos, which suggests the Iguana and the new Interventors box. He also likes the look of custodiars and the other Bakunin stuff.

Already picked up a sniper sin eater & vortex spec ops. Probably interventors for the nomads. Dunno yet for the PanO as they'll mostly be a demo force since my personal army are Haqqislam.

Icestorm is my jumping point into Infinity.

Gonna be backing Nomads as my favorite Infinity faction, not just Icestorm. The suggestions in the Beasts of War video appeal to me: Tunguska Interventors and Gecko or Iguana Squadron. Amazing looking models.

I'm new to the game with OI, and just from an aesthetic standpoint I'll be getting some more Knights for the PanO, and some Intruders or Helcats for the Nomads.

I already have an ASA force, so the Pan-O box just let's me expand into vanilla Pan-O. I hope that most of the starter box ends up in the Svalarheim sectorial-- the fusiliers and ORC trooper specifically. The Nisse is definitely in.

The Nomads... Alguaciles and Mobile Brigada go into my QK. The Grenzer, Spektr and Reverend-Healer-Killer are currently status unknown. I'll probably sell them or give them to a friend who plays Bakunin

I am already playing (poorly) as ALEPH, and I suspect they will remain my primary faction. The Icestorm box is just to have some cool models, demo games and... aw who am I kidding? I want all the TAGs!!!

For Pan-O, I will probably go vanilla with eyes on a Neoterran army. If I can grab one, probably the Squalo before the new one hits. Sure, he is vanilla and dated, but not-Briarios is what first caught my eye in the game. Then maybe a few Bolts or the Neoterra starter to fill out the list, I gotta Hexa sniper already from when I thought I was going to start with Pan-O, but opted out cause I didn't like the old fusiliers. Other than that, just anything that looks super cool.

For the Nomads... I really need a closer look at those guys. I really like the Iguanas, Geckos and the various zonds and sputniks. Interventors got the sexy new re-sculpts and fast pandas, but I am not sure what sort of engineers are good.

I really aim to just keep a tight lid on these guys, since I really play ALEPH... really.

Good news is that you can use some of your Aleph models with your new Pan-O

Meh. A Naga or two in ASA, and a few bots and a Deva in NCA - hardly the kind of synergy to start an army for (TBH, I have yet to even use my suitable Aleph stuff in NCA in quite a few games, really - the other toys are cooler! )

I already have Corregidor starter and couple other models...but honestly I wait for Tunguska sectorial to Hit, den I decide if Im going Vanila or sectorial.

Im suprised that people drop Grenzer just like that, it has MSlv1 wooping 13BS and hell lot of armour for 20 pts less than Intruder....Im in love, thats why I traded for one more with my firend, and will be handy if/when Tunguska come around.

As for Healer....well...cool model but Im not much fan of bakugin troops other than Reverend Custodier as agressive hacker...wich has ODD instead of mimetism...

@AllistorPreist

If you wanna good engineers Nomads are your best friend, well we dont have fancy smancy Sophotech but we have Zoe,Carlota(two awesome babes with guts and skill) Tomcats(my fav unit) and Wildcats(if you want to have nice armour on your engineer)

I'll be getting it to field a general Nomads list. i'm currently running a Bakunin Sectorial list. With a majority of Reverend Moiras and Sin Eaters..
So my Ice Storm will primarily be to be able to field a Vanilla Nomads list.
I already have the Reverend Moira box and the Bakunin Sectorial starter.
And I will be working on the Religious aspect to build my lists.
I want several lists consisting of mostly religious loonies able to actually GAIN orders from Loss of Lieutanant. Yes the rules are broken in that regard..

I may be an donkey-cave, but at least I'm an equal oppurtunity donkey-cave...

A friend and I will be going 50/50 on the box set. Me taking PanOceania, him Nomads. This is our entry into the world of Infinity the Game. We both have some minor experience in WH40K and Warmachine.

The only issue I see is the distributors here in the U.S. are terrible, so it's virtually impossible to get your hands on anything via FLGS. Also there's not very many people in my area that play it, and I live in quite the populated area.

However, my friend and I are planning to start weekly games at the FLGS to hopefully influence more people into playing it.

I will most likely wait for all of the 3rd ed. rules to be released before making any choices in regards to add-on troops.

I don't plan on expanding it at all. I plan on using it as a learning point for new players to hopefully increase the game population in the area. I like my yu jing too much :p

Understandable. I think if I was starting from scratch I would have picked up ariadna or yu Jing but I got haqqislam with some trades and will likley use the nomads from the starter. Still might pick up yu Jing of ariadna further down the line.

Got the Corregidor starter, some interventors, and the intruder sniper for my nomads. Oh and an Iguana cause I love the tag .

And some Bolts for the PanO side.

My options are a bit limited seeing as both armies recently got redesigned weapons and I want to keep my forces looking consistent.

They are nomads.if anyone would use several different types of the same weapon based on what they could get hold of and personal preference it would be them.

You'll probably have to get over this if you want to buy about 70% of the range. While they're resculpting the core units, I wouldn't expect the Human Sphere models to get one for quite some time, and that's where most of the interesting stuff is, especially for sectorials.

So I'm completely new to Infinity, but plan on getting the OI box. Previously, I was thinking of trying out Japanese Sectorial or else Haqqislam, but with the Nomads and PanO in OI, I'll probably go with one or both. Trying to digest what's in the thread here, but not synching in.

I fully "get" the "it doesn't matter what you take, it matters how you use it" view of Infinity list building, but what would folks suggest as good packs to expand the forces in OI? I guess like with all games with a bit of a learning curve, I'm not tracking all the game jargon yet...

Look at the existing(and future) Sectorials and decide whether you want a more heavily themed force or just vanilla.

Best advice I can give.

Icestorm is getting me into the game. I have been curious about the game for a while, but the lack of a “starter” type box and the complexity of the rules set a high bar to entry. A friend is getting the Pan-O figs, so it’s the nomads for me. The first non Icestorm Nomad purchase is going to be the Gecko’s, they look too slick NOT to own.

Hiding behind terrain

Operation Icestorm will be my first Infinity product. I won't be expanding straight away but will more than likely in the near future once Ive got the jist of the game from the starter.

As my local gaming scenes are far enough away to make it hard for regular appearances , I'll be trying to expand the PanO and Nomads in the box to stay roughly balanced so I can play it at home when I cant make it in.
I'll be looking into the Iguana, Jotum, Auxilia, and Interventors as suggested in one of the Beasts of War videos as Ive been lead to believe this keeps the balance.
I also really like the Gecko and wouldn't mind seeing the gecko squad, iguana + pilot and brigadier general from O:I displayed in a group.

I would advise against the "suggestions" from Beasts of War as it only is boxed sets and even more, only aimed at "vanilla" armies.
