And that is why I should read full sentences.

Honestly, you pointed out a good point of why a Wraithknight is considered a MC instead of a Walker. I have heard people say that it is similar to a Riptide but the Riptide is a battle suit so that is more akin to a type of power and others have said that it is the combination of the fact that it is a wraithbone construct (But isn't everything the Eldar make made out of that stuff?) and the other argument is that since it takes a soulstone to operate much like the Wraithguard and Wraithlord, that it makes it more akin to an MC, since the Wraithknight requires both the pilot and his twin in a soulstone in order to work but I say that sounds a hell of a lot like how my Imperial Knight has his consciousness mind meld with the machine spirit of the Knight itself to the point the Imperial Knight is referred to as a "suit" of armor but it is still a walker! Also the Wraithknight is fething huge, bigger than an Imperial Knight but still the two are different.

I'd have to say it is because of what was posted earlier, the rules for MC are better. So to make the unit perform in a special way they give it MC.

I don't feel like its worth looking too far into, I think MC's were the new hotness and they wanted to make Eldar / Tau MC's, regardless of the concept. I think had they been released before the MC rule they would have just been walkers. It's just a way of selling models

It should be one. But alas, MC's have better rules so certain writers have decided that it is the way to go.

If NDK isn't a walker, why do we have rules for them...?

NDKs don't have Walker rules, they have Monstrous Creature rules. Are you confusing them with Imperial Knights?

Yeah... That's what I said.

Oh, I can see the confusion. But what I simply meant that it should be a Walker, and wondered why it isn't.
My bad!

It is a Monstrous Creature because the pilot is not full encapsulated but has that wonderful baby harness that it is strapped into. If you look at other models that are Walkers, they are always fully encapsulated within a cockpit. The only exception to this rule is the Wraithknight where the pilot is in cockpit.

Then what about the lowly Penitent Engine?

It has a person strapped to the outside. It is considered a walker.

I think they try to play it as the dreadknight being much more agile/in control of the situation since its kind of like he's just a giant Greg knight, as apposed to a blocky contraption.

A Nemesis DreadKnight is a stripped down Imperial Knight chassis with a Marine in neural linked via his armor instead of a Throne, wearing the endo-skeleton as an extension of himself, hence treating it like a Monstrous Creature as it's technically just "larger" TDA. On the other hand, Imperial Knights are full on vehicles, piloted by a dude in chair much like a modern day fighter plane is piloted, except where the pilot forms a gestalt mind with his "plane" and the "plane" is a walking tank with a massive chainsaw. While the Grey Knight wears his Nemesis DreadKnight armor as a Space Marine should, an Imperial Knight carries its pilot in an armored caccoon as both its heart and mind in one.

That thing would look infinitely better if he did.

Mine does. Everyone I've seen that wasn't heavily modified does, as well. Its a Waldo Exo-frame, the concept of which goes back to the golden age of science fiction, and is named for the Issac Asimov character Waldo, who used such a frame to remotely interact wth the world. Although my favorite by far are a the Landmates from Shiro Massimone's Appleseed and Black Magic series, although the Loader Ripply uses in Aliens is more mainstream.

Ask yourself this, your GK opponent, is he a douche? Even though his list is tough to play against, did he do anything shady in the game or did he argue a lot? Was he pleasant to play against (not necessarily his army, but the person himself)? Then you will realize whether he really was a WAAC player or not. To me, it looks like your friend is just evolving as a player. It's very common. He plays. He wants to get better. Thus he starts running tougher lists. Soon enough, he will probably be going to tournaments. That's just the natural evolution of many players. You really can't expect him to stay a beers-&-pretzels type of player forever. Just as you prefer casual and friendly games using models that you enjoy, he seems to be evolving into the type of player that wants to be more competitive.

Is it a surprise that the new codex MAKES people repeat units? Just have a look at it...

Troops: 2 choices (of which you wouldn't want to take one unless you want to limit your 1 troop "tax".)
FA: 2 choices
HS: 5 choices (because 3 are LR variants which can be taken as DT these days) of which one (purgation squad) would be considered something you'd take if you playing somebody new to the game...

I agree with jy2 though. If he's still a nice guy, he's not WAAC at all. I don't think it's necessarily him trying to evolve as a player... It might just be having to use the new book and noticing that some slots only have one choice realistically.

The boy, I say, the boy is as sharp as a sack of wet mice...
