According to the paper, a western woman sought out ISIS to try to negotiate, in person, for her sons safe return. They have lots of jets flying lots of sorties. Sorties to Paris, Switzerland, Vegas, Rodeo Drive.

Why would the Saudi's attack their own investment?

ISIS is destroying their enemy Syria and also cleansing the lands of heretics (Shia's) and other unwanted minorities

It would also mean coordinating with their other mortal enemy Iran which is essentially a nation of heretics (to them)

ISIS is also fighting Iranian influence in the area so it's best off leaving IS to batter the Iranians whilst giving token support to those fighting IS to save face

The Saudis have hit Da'Ish targets in Syria, and they've done other things:

Saudi Arabia: The kingdom has sent warplanes to strike ISIS targets in Syria and agreed to host efforts to train moderate Syrian rebels to fight ISIS. It also donated $500 million to U.N. humanitarian efforts in Iraq.

I suspect (though the article does not mention it) they are very involved in the intel gathering (they have a good HUMINT network in the region) and that there are sorties (both combat and recon) from other coalition members using Saudi airfields.

SA's funded the intial groups that became ISIL. So yes they did.

Turkey actively supports, so yes they did too.
Turkey could end ISIL instantly. No one seems to care or dare make the connection.

Just a couple of examples but yes this isn't a war of "nations" the nations that exist today are those drawn up by imperialist powers in the beginning of the 20th century, there is no real sense of nationhood and nationalism that us westerners have grown up with for the past three or so centuries.

It's a sectarian war which is only going to get bigger as the fighting continues
