Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like Fox is finally moving forward with a Deadpool movie! The status of Wade Wilson's solo movie has been up in the air for several years now, but today, Twentieth Century Fox announced that the Merc with a Mouth's movie (say that 10 times fast) is scheduled to open February 12, 2016.

Why? In the terrible Wolverine origins movie he was great as just Wade Wilson and then the animated short they did was great too.
Who else would you pick to do it?
This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!
The only person I'd even think could pull off deadpool as well as Reynolds is MAYBE Chris Evans but obviously that's not going to happen. I'm very much ok with Reynolds as wade.

Honestly, having seen Evans play Cap, I'm not so sure he can do the Regeneratin' Degenerate proper justice. (as in, I dont really think he can act "crazy")
Also, with my profile pic, I'm sure yall can figure out that I'm waiting for this with baited breath...Took me a good long time, but I finally found MY comic hero
Now, I also wonder if they are borrowing some elements of the movie plot from his existing cache of printed material, or if it's a "fresh" script. Rumor has it, there was a screen play written by the same dude who did Zombieland, so there's that as a possibility. Unless of course, Fox was really planning this the whole time and were successfully able to keep it quiet until they were ready to release the info, and as such, is a script that hasn't been seen/talked about to date.

As many others have said Reynolds is a fine choice for the role. He is also a huge Deadpool fan. See the interview where he talks about Deadpool in Wolverine. You can see how disappointed he is in how non wade Deadpool turned out.
Not excited about it. Not until they assure people without a shadow of a doubt that it is going to be a rated R, R18, NC-17, whatever rating it has to be for cursing to be allowed with gratuitous violence. I don't want to see any 'un-alive them' from Deadpool (Amazing Spider-Man cartoon reference).
Basically, my expectations are in the pooper and they are going to stay that way into my butt is in the theater and the movie is going. I expect it to be garbage and worse than Origins, that way, I won't be upset about them ruining a great character they way they did before.
Should be fun. Fox have yet to do a bad film from the X-men licence (F4 are a different matter) so this should be good. I wonder if it'll tie in to X-men as a prequel to Origins or be entirely separate?
Fox did X-3. So they have done a bad X-Men license film. That's a pretty universal feeling. Less universal is my personal dislike of the "The Wolverine" that recently came out. I thought it was boring and bad. But that could just be me.
And yeah, Reynolds has to be Wade. While I think Evans (who I really like) could play crazy and fast talking Cap is his character and he still wouldn't be as good as Reynolds.

I really don't see why people don't like X-3. Granted, it's probably the weakest one, but still perfectly watchable. What issues are people seeing in it, out of interest?

For a start, they made Cyclops less interesting. Which is a mean feat since he has so little character to him he could be replaced by a cardboard cut-out with a laser pen in place of eyes.
Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)

Fair enough, they did make Cyclops too much of a goody-two-shoes to make Wolverine look like more of a 'rebel', but the whole original trilogy have that issue really. The fact they killed him off in X3 does annoy me, but at the time, it was merciful to the character.

Fixed
Also, yeah saw this before I went to work, made my day.
Also, it is going to be the writer for Zombieland.
Here's one interview in which RR talk's about the Origins Deadpool character, as was mentioned earlier, he does sound a bit disappointed... but, I personally can see why he's the best fit for Wade Wilson's character, especially when he's talking about how difficult lunch is with a sewn up mouth
Again, it's gotta be Reynolds. Only other actor I could see doing it is Sean William Scott-and he's such a far distant place that I would consider him a last resort. Beyond those two, it would have to be some no-name.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Agreed... I mean there are some actors that people would say are "born to play" a certain character. Anthony Hopkins IS Hannibal Lector in much the same way that I think that Ryan Reynolds was meant to be Deadpool

You gotta look to evans other performances as jonny blaze and his character from the losers to understand why i think that way i guess. And even then i tried to make it pretty clear i thought that was stretch. I personally dont think anyone could pull off wade like reynolds can. But then i thought heath ledger was gonna be a terrible joker so what do i know haha.

I think that, prior to seeing TDK, a LOT of people thought heath ledger was going to be a terrible Joker

This would be my biggest concern. Breaking the fourth wall has become Deadpool's hallmark, and frankly, I wouldn't really be able to enjoy the character as much if he didn't act like he knew he was in a movie. The Deadpool game may have been 'meh' but it had the character nailed.

3) Did someone say Chimichanga?
Holla at your boy?
If RR is as big of a fan as everyone says, I don't think they will have it any other way.
But he better grab the camera and start yelling profanities at the audience. Hopefully when a cell phone goes off in-movie and he just started YELLING at people to turn off the god damn cellphones in the god damn theater.
