I can't say I'm a fan of that stormbird or the daemon. I seriously thought that rat thing was a final gasp of Forgeworld's largely cancelled fantasy line as an addition to the skaven line for the End Times book they currently have.

For those reading the thread and not knowing much about the stormbird, this is the pic I'm most familiar with on the vehicle. Obviously FW is free to reimagine vehicles to some extent (see the stormhammer discussion earlier in this thread) so it doesn't have to look like that but I would have preferred something that wasn't an awkward bolt-on kit to the thunderhawk design. YMMV. The stormbird in the HH novels was described as a much more elegant solution to the dropship question and the thunderhawk that modern marines love was a crude get you by type solution IIRC.

The stuff that they've shown off so far looks awesome. I may be tempted to get another baneblade variant. The mechanicus previews are a must!

Odd that it specifies it as a "Sokar pattern" Stormbird. That implies we might see another pattern eventually?

So the new Vraks book has the two LE minis and the possessed contemptor? Does it have the Gal Vorbak in it?

I'm really not seeing rat in Samus. It looks more canine than anything.

Vraks is 40k. The LE minis and the possessed dread are 30k, and nothing to do with Vraks.

I see where I've went wrong. The post was referencing his Vraks book but then he posted images of the dread and the two LE characters underneath it.

Yeah haha. I'm assuming the Dread is going to be in the next HH book, and Vraks is an update of the three IA Siege of Vraks books. The rules for the LE minis I'm guessing are just at the weekender, but their Consul types will, I assume, also be In the next HH book.

Sorely sorely disappointed that their storm bird is just a juiced up Thunderhawk. When we know it was far and above anything a Thunderhawk ever was.

It looks like something that the Thunderhawk might be a cruder imitation of, so it works IMO.

I'm not a huge fan of the new Stormbird design, but that image has never been confirmed as a storm bird either. It's just a picture of some RT-era marines getting out of a big flyer. The idea that that picture is of a Stormbird is something us fans decided later, independent of FW.

People are allowed to have opinions and preferences and to express them within the rules of dakka even if you don't share them.... honestly! As for that particular thunderhawk gunship style...

Well, yeah. We'll get an Omegon model in as much as we'll get an Alpharius. He's not even mentioned in the FW HH books, let alone having rules, and probably not a model.

That Stormbird is... depressing...

After the way they described it in the books, they make it sound like a truly different animal than the Thunderhawk, and now it just looks like an XL thunderhawk with stuff stuck on it, looks like a TH variant at best. Not terrible by any means as a model unto itself, but it fails to live up to it's fictional pedigree I would say...

Some other stuff looking really nice though FW is, as always, far more hit than miss for the quality of their sculpts, and that new SM interceptor joins the FW storm raven variants as the only stock SM flyers that do it for me, nice job!

Found a pic of the Xiphon that sort of shows the underside, and the one they had on display doesn't appear to have any wing mounted weapons. I really hope it has more than just a pair of twin lascannons in its final version.
