Hmmm

Cimaedes

Nifoaden

That works pretty well.

The alternative is a thesaurus, and looking at the characteristics of the planet find a word that suits. But without being direct.

They are from the Planet Bob.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Use random name generators. There is one specially for planets.

Or take your favourite words and translate them to 40k's specific pseudo-latin.
Like:
Smellus footus
Broomus
Crowdus Bus
Baconia Magna
Potatonia
etc...

I tend to use names inspired by or mentioned in the works of other sci-fi/sci-fantasy or cosmic horror writers.

Such as the Carcosa system in the Hali Sub-Sector (all Lovecraft references).

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, I'm also impressed how well that works.

You could also add other linguistic modules on as well. For example, if you want to make it sound faux-latin, you replace o's y's and w's with u's, k's with q's or c's, etc. In this case, it would "latinize" to Icascus IV.

Hmm... so...

Interesting.

Anyways, on an unrelated note, I like names that play up the crazy medieval religious aspect. So, like a St. Corvinus, or a St. Cairophantes or something.
