Is anyone adding updates and/or new formations to this program? It seems that communication has gone dark...
|
It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

Yeah, I wonder what happened, there are no Crimson Slaughter formations and they have still yet to post the forgehost formation for daemons in the 'formation detatchment' list. :(

CSM still lacking formations? Death from the skies was added though. Try opening a issue here:

I can't seem to add the imperial space marine to Skyhammer Devastators, and the Stormhawk/fighter squadrons haven't been added to marines as far as I can tell.
Thanks to all of you for your hard work!

I raised a ticket on a problem with Dreadnought selection in the Ravenhawk assault group a few months ago and it still hasn't be remedied.
The formation allows you to pick a dreadnought of any type, including contemptors now. But the battlescribe set tells you that you've made an error if you select anything except a standard dreadnought.

Guys, as always great job creating and updating this amazing tool.
In regards to CSM,
Built a list yesterday, decided to run some zombie spam, and realized with I have more than one squad of zombies, I can not make the numbers different. When I add 20 to one squad, it automatically adds 20 to the other squad. Also plague knives are no longer an option for plague marines, but that is not so big as they are standard wargear.
Keep up the great work

I know this thread is about the BS data, but I'm having problems running BS (it's worked fine before) and the BS forum seems dead (the last post was October).
When I start BS (from the shortcut, exe or jar file) the icon appears in the taskbar, but nothing else happens. The other exes start okay, just the Roster Editor that doesn't work.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled BS and Java, but no difference.
I'm running BS 1.15.07 (latest version) and have Java 8 update 91 installed. I'm running Windows 8.
An old post on the BS forum had someone with the same problem, and reinstallation of Java worked for them, but hasn't made a difference for me. Might this be because BS is expecting Java 7, not 8? Automatically Appended Next Post: It appears to be data related.
If I delete my data files, it starts up okay and shows me the Getting Started screen. If I download the latest data, I get the same problem as before.
I happened to have an old data download, so I installed that instead and I get a bunch of errors:
I think these are because the data is old.
The latest update to the data was on the 26th May. Could this have broken my BS? Anyone else having problems.

I agree, it should fix it!
Deleted the data, uninstalled BS, uninstalled Java, restarted Windows, re-downloaded BS and installed it. It took me to the Java website where I installed and verified the latest version. Started BS and the Getting Started screen shows. I chose the repository at the start of this thread (the same one I've always used), but still the same problem. Once the data is installed, nothing. Just the icon in the taskbar.

It's in there. It has been merged into the Tau Empire: Codex (2015) datafile. Just select the "Farsight Enclaves" from "No Category", and you will see the Farsight options.
New person here, but the data file for Farsight Enclave does not allow you to add in the individual member of the Eight. I know Dawn Blade Contingent has them as one big unit, but Farsight Enclave allows you to just add one or two.

Do you have the new rules or the old rules? IIRC the new rules do not allow them to be taken individually.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Much as I love the scribe I got an issue.
Space Wolves
Heralds of the Great Wolf formation.
Always comes up with the ! to say 'the Heralds cannot have a Wolf Priest(hidden)'.
Wolf Priest is 1/3 of the formation-unit so what's the deal?

but basically the Chapter Tactics for Crimson Fists and Black Templars are showing the rules for Imperial Fists (Bolter Drill and Siege experts)

Hey Battlescribe contributors, love your work and thank you!
What is the "official" way to document issues with the data files?
I posted on GitHub, here: https://github.com/BSData/wh40k/issues/2343
Is that the recommended manner?

Something I noticed with Eldar Craftworlds the other day - when taking Wave Serpents as a Fast Attack choice (non-dedicated), if you give one Ghostwalk Matrix, it is given to all FA Serpents.

Space Marine Devastators must have 5 models (1 serge, 4 marines) but Battlescribe allows 4 total (1 serge, 3 marines).
A lesson on why you should always check your codex - I've played two games now with only 4 models in my dev squad!!
Great work on all these data files guys!

It can be a nice feature to have though. I use battlescribe to track my YTD progress for painting. I was able to make a sternguard squad, and remove guys until it only had two guys left.
But it a good thing to remember. Battlescribe is not a codex. It might have all the information, but not a lot of the context, and does have some errors.
Love it though.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

I was trying to add a fortification to my 30k Militia list, but the only option available to 30k at all is the Castellum Stronghold. This has been like that for a while, is it something that's planned to be added in? The 40K ones should all be legal as of the new red books
