I have a few BT upgrade boxes, and I read on here that they work best with the old SM legs rather than the legs that come in the new SM tac squad box.

How do you tell the difference between the old legs and the new just by looking? Leg bits are all over ebay but I can't tell if they are the old legs or new legs.

Thanks!

The 2013 Tac box has sharper details. And about half of the legs are new and more "standing" than "crouching". Don't see why the new ones shouldn't work with the BT upgrade box.

I’ve been using them interchangeably with all sorts of kits, new and old, and haven’t noticed a difference. The reversal of the torso pegs and general rise in quality are the only things that separates the new and old kits. I don’t have the BT sprues, so can’t speak for them, but I highly doubt you’d have a problem.

The BT sprues have tabards. The tabard fits between the legs of the model. If the legs are too upright, they will be too close together and you might have to clip part of the tabard.

Hey thanks. So from this thread:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/611744.page#7142723

It seems that there are two problems matching the new tactical legs with the bt upgrade torsos. The width of the legs is one problem, due to the tabards. The other problem is some "pegs" that you have to cut?

I think I'd like to just go ahead and try to pick up the older legs.

So I found some images online and made this comparison of the old and new legs. Is this correct?

Here are the boxes:

I did my best to identify legs that are only in one set or the other... but I don't know if these are actually the old and new sets (or if they are both mixtures of old and new). Can somebody verify if this is correct?

Also, which box is this?

btw Mods, I don't know if I'm allowed to just steal images from the internet, photoshop them and then post them up here. If I'm now allowed to do this, go ahead and scrap all the links. Thanks!

Legs seem right, although there are more differences than the 3 you marked.
The box you marked with "New?" (grey-blue background) is the 2013 Tac box. The other two are both old boxes and should both contain the old legs.

thanks. Yeah after looking at the pictures some more, I think that all 10 new legs are unique. But I think that there are only 5 unique legs in the old set.
