I love the fluff about the daemons in the dark city, locked behind the gate.
With power from pain being a waiting game, and daemonic summoning being a waiting game, do you think the two would pair well?
Play conservative early, and more aggressive as your units get better and you bring in free units tailored to the situation.

I like the idea of DE and Daemons personally, as I like the idea of slaaneshi crone eldar...but the whole desperate ally thing can make it rough.

Fluffwise, I really like it. On top of that, I think it can be pretty strong.
Daemon prince of slaanesh with whip for air to air issues, daemonettes rending for a combat threat, then poison and haywire to solve the rest of the issues.
I'll try to wrap my head around a list.

Only if they fight each other.
However, DE and Eldar are now BFF. I guess, they'll soon be pals with Slaanesh. Cause that's what eldar do. Being nice and friendly and don't afraid of anything.
As for the setup, i can see daemons with tankhunting scourges being effective. And probably a razorwing. So that you can concentrate on other stuff as daemons have some issues with anti-tank and a razorwing is now doing decent as a tac flyer.

Slaanesh psychic powers look like they would like a -2 leadership modifier.

I dont think two late game powers are a good fit. They will both get slaughtered turn 1 and not be around on turn 6 to take advantage of their boons.
