The idea is silly I grant you, but I think they look cool enough that I don't really care about things like logic in this case.

I wouldnt say it is "totes" goofy. Somewhat is as far as i would go

Maybe that is the economical way to break up the soldier's easily recognisable PA silhouette? Or maybe it provides a slight camouflage capability without having to repaint the armour when on an unexpected or extended deployment.

Sure I believe it is more rule of cool, and it works for me, but I am willing to believe there is some application for the outfit.

Glory is fleeting. Obscurity is forever.

That was my thought as well, you could get mimetic or thermoptic properties in the cloaks. Plus perhaps a practical consideration - pockets!

Balieros in Appleseed has clothes because he is cybernetic (rather than someone wearing a powered suit), and so he can feel more like a human. Obviously that wouldn't apply in the case for these guys though.

Fair points!

I just prefer my power armored male and female future soldiers to not be encumbered by coats, cloaks, capes, etc.

Cybernetics is surely used for exoskeletons as well.

i just wouldn't be caught dead saying "totes" about anything...
i would say, however: no capes!!!

i do think the coat adds something atmospheric to the mini, giving it a sense of motion...
is it necessary???
the original Prowler, just standing there looking like a complete badass, would say no...
i don't dislike the coat, but i would not choose to paint it brown, as black is way more intimidating...

cheers

The original model had a coat. This one has a coat as well. It's not really that much of a problem. Plus, it differentiates the Aquilla Guard from the other PanO HI.

Plus, maybe the coat is what gives it BTS+3 in comparison to the Orc.

The new one is an improvement.
I never understood why he had the sword, and I don't care for the hilt on that thing at all.
I know Aquila Guard have shock CCW, but he's almost entirely fire support with the HMG + MSV3 profile.

Something I have always wondered with some of that background terrain, is it custom or is it all "manufactured"? I know some of it is from other companies like the crates.

cool little things like button panels, variety of doors, circuit breakers, etc would be cool scenery additions that you can just glue on to give existing terrain some more like to it.

Making my own has been a pain.

I think they went with the cape so there would be no rage-butt comments .

I'm for capes mainly because I remember the Death of Superman comic series where d
Doomsday snags someone by their cape and pummels them to within an inch of their life. Then slams the car door on Blue Beetles head I never was a big DC comic fan, but I was all into that series with the fight scenes.

All the background terrain is built be one of the CB staff members. His "weapon store room" is one of my favorites, that one uses a lot of spare weapons form the entire line.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

It's 'rage buttocks', and yes that is a good reason for him to have a cape! Unlike in a lot of the other range where the armour just pushes the buttocks up so that they look far too pert and unrealistic. Really, the armour around that area needs to look more utilitarian and shouldn't be sticking out in an effort to look 'sexy', I'm glad CB realises that with this sculpt.

Sorry, I meant he is a cyborg - a mix of man and machine (so his internal organs and what remains of him are within the mechanical body), rather than wearing a suit.

What, you mean that your butt doesn't also have that firm but separate look going on?

Biggest problem I have with that jacket is it doesnt look like he could actually even button it up around himself if he did try too.

The Hsien have coats that button around the body, but that's probably harder to model not that they're 3D sculpted.

I want many more things including Tiger Soldiers before we get more PanO. Lots of other models in the range are crying to be replaced.
