Isn't there a new Jannisary HMG blister? So there probably won't be a HMG in the box. Looking forward to seeing that box though, the Hardcase, and the Yan Huo.

Djan sniper is in the QK starter. We're more likely to lose the hacker which is a solo blister.

4 Jannies in a box is big time overkill. It's a good thing CB usually makes models so nice you don't mind buying too many because there is zero chance anyone will field 4 in a normal 300 pt army list. Obviously it's for the super OCD who must have every possible profile represented.

It would be unfortunate if the current Janissary with AP rifle gets nixed. While he is in the current starter box, that is also due to be replaced. It's a great model, one of the best in the range.
If this is anything like the Galwegians release, I'll eat those words when CB comes out with an even better replacement.

In the end it's probably best for Haqq. The faction could use some attention and updating. I just thought we had already seen all the updates coming to Janissaries for now. Many other profiles need an update still... Like Naffatuns just got.

Side note: Any word on when the new remotes will be hitting the streets? I thought we would be getting replacements for the standard remotes for each factions? Many/Most of them are woefully outdated.

You could always do a Hafza link with them, use the whatsit to make the mostly hafza team look like like a 5 man jannisary link... even if your opponent is sure you didn't pay for 5 of them, he won't know which 5. QK of course.

I just painted up the Djanbazan hacker. It is a nice model, showing its age but still possessing good detail. However, I found that even painted the same way as the sniper model - so lots of armour-colour patches on the legs and arms - it didn't look like a Medium Infantry model at the end of the day. New sculpts are definitely needed for that unit, because their current HMG model dates from 1st edition, judging by its look. I Suspected, when buying the hacker model, that she would be updated soon, but I liked the sculpt and it looks sufficiently generic Haqq for me to be happy using her as all kinds of random crap in the future. For the moment, though, she is a cheeky mobile MSV2 model.

The sniper Djanbazan is awesome, and since he is so compact, he has aged very well; the sorts of random detail that you now get a lot of would be out of sight anyway. Him, I reckon will stay.

I would venture that, like the new Naffatun box, CB wants to differentiate the Haqq units.
As they stand now so many look like hardcore badass soldiers in fatigues with a visor. When painted with the drab studio scheme it takes a trained eye to tell whats what.
Granted though, that's part of their style. Stoic, practical, and implacable.
One might entice more interest in the faction however by injecting some distinct character into their armor and uniforms.

Looking forward to new Jannis but really wondering what they'll be equipped with. Gotta have a Tinbot in there though.

It makes sense since I just got some Malifeaux arachnids to represent a Tinbot so they'd release one... sigh.

I'd bet that when they do new Djans, they're going to look a bit more like Tarik, just without the coat and with the addition of helmets.

The Jannisaries I imagine will be like the other recent boxed sets. Four figures using two unique body sculpts with different heads and arms. They'll probably have a new AP rifle type (third sculpt now), HMG, Shotgun, and then probably a universal type that could be any profile, probably waving a sword around. Since they mentioned the surprise, I'm betting some type a little drone will be in there. Probably the Tinbot.

We've got a Janissary HMG blister that's pretty new so I doubt there'll be a HMG in the box.

The HMG model only came out in the last six months, I think. Lovely model too, really enjoyed painting him. Also, the boxed sets usually don't have the special weapon in them anyway; Spitfire Odalisque, Spitfire Druze, HRL Sekban, etc.

Those are all slightly "older" boxes before they shifted to the new system of "Basic profiles in starter boxes and potentially limited release in blisters; boxes contain nothing but specials".

In this situation though, you likely are correct in that the HMG model will not be present since he is a new sculpt and what you can expect to see in terms of aesthetic.

Might well be better than the actual Tinbot miniature, which is likely to be some kind of robotic pokemon thing

The pattern established by the Sekban, Kaplan, some others I think (?!) is that we'll see a generic box filling out a number of the basic options but that matches the aesthetic of the single miniature release.

I doubt it'll be a model, although I'd otherwise love to have actual miniatures for it, along with models for repeaters and drop bears (at reasonable price).

My guess for the surprise is either a new profile and weapon (in this case, I wouldn't be surprised at another HRL model, but I'd love something a bit different) or an actual Doctor model. If it's 4 models, a Tinbot model would take up one of those spots, and that would mean you wouldn't get the full 5 man link from the box plus HMG.

Fast Pandas are functionally the same, yet got minis.

There was a statement made that we would see Tinbot models at some point.

interventor go panda minis because CB stop making blister of 2 minis and do only box of four, so they had to do:
two blister
or one box with two optionnal stupid minis that will sell a lot :p

so I don't think we will se a box of 5 minis

Corvus Belli hasn't "stopped doing blisters" though, and Interventors could have been given just a blister.

But because of the way Fast Pandas(and Tinbots) are equipment that actually have an in-game effect and should be properly represented they got models.

A new box of 4 Jannies better mean that we also get a similar box for mobile brigade, ORC troopers, invincibles, and other generic HIs.

On a side note, I wonder if the rerelease of HS will mean units that went largely unchanged in N3 will get some attention? My all time favorite domaru butai, along with most of the signature JSA units, didn't get much love beyond some point reductions in N3.

To be fair, the numbers could be wrong.

If they're told a "Janissary box", they'd say 4 models. As far as I can tell, they don't get told the exact numbers.

Maybe, in the spirit of the above picture, that all the Janissaries will be Rage Fisting? FOR GREAT JUSTICE

There is also the AP Rifle Jannissary in the starter. That'd make five.

Except that's an old design. The HMG has changed enough that the starter Jannisary doesn't fit in anymore. Same with the starter Naffatun and Ghulam. I wouldn't be surprised now to see a resculpt fo the vanilla Haqq starter, without a Jannisary (assuming there's 4 in the Jannisary box) or Naffatun.
