I dont see why people keep lauding the Taurox for its all terrain rule when you can give the Chimera the exact same thing for 5 extra points.

Another thing in favor of the Chimera, and what people often overlook, is that it comes with the searchlight and smokelaunchers by default. The Taurox doesn't. So that's an additional 4 points thrown in towards the side of the Taurox if you give it those upgrades, making the inclusion of the dozerblade on the Chimera merely a 1 point addition.

And its capacity to carry 12 models instead of 10, so that usually means full squad and IC. Or 4 Ogryns instead of the Taurox' 3.

Of course, not attaching a ministorum priest to ogryns is a terrible idea, so if you want to make them mobile, 3+ priest is the best setup, in which case it doesnt matter if they go inside the taurox or chimera.

I didn't see it mentioned... But I don't think you can issue orders from a taurox.

Which is why IMO the only real question should be, whether the 100 point Taurox Prime makes a fine AT addition to your army or not.

Because it really is the only Taurox variant in the IG armory that really brings something new to the table.

It's also in the same league as the FA Canine variants, who of course have better armor (+1 front, +2 side), but also pay roughly 30 extra points for it

What is a Canine?

The prime with ML is never really worth it. You are better off tanking to regular 2 Tauroxs because the 2 twinlinking AC and extra hull points is better than a single fast 2 TL AC and 2 regular ML.

That does look better but I still don't think it looks "good" as the front mud guards are clearly designed for something bigger than that set of wheels. There's a 4 wheel conversion rather than the 6 wheel that I think looks better again, but still doesn't look great, and for a $60 model ($48 + $12 for the wheels) I'm struggling to want to buy something that, to me, only looks "acceptable".

Use both! I like to sneak a Taurox in because it can shoot over a chimera. The extra access points can also be useful.

I think they are both viable options, but it depends on their role. The taurox makes an excellent APC; a metal bawks that is designed to get your troops from A to B.

The chimera, on the other hand, makes a better IFV, as if, and I really do mean if, it stays alive, it can not only tank shock, but also has a hull heavy flamer (why wouldn't you take it?) to roast infantry on a per need basis

It can also tank shock, either to force enemies in to tighter coherency for your blast markers, or alternatively to tank shock through enemy troops so you can secure an objective, which is something the taurox just cannot do

It is a bit more pricey, but it has considerably more utility too, and as an added bonus, looks much more sexy, and seems to fit in better with mech IG too

Lots of good points all around. The Chimera has been a solid option for a long time, as it has good Fire-Power, Front Armor 12, and it can carry 12x Troops. However, I will admit that the Taurox is a bit more appealing right now, as the Twin-Linked Auto-Cannons would be very useful in my current meta as I can move 12 inches and still fire it at normal BS, and being able to disembark from the sides and the reroll for the difficult terrain is an added bonus.

Plus in my experience when I ran this list in the past and from seeing other IG players run Chimeras, 80% of the time they are playing defensive with them, which is something I would like to avoid to be honest. Also, I have seen lists with both Chimeras and Taurox Primes and both get destroyed just as easily, as the though Front Armor 12 is nice, its not amazing. That being said, I am also debating if I should run Steel Legion or the Forgeworld Hostile Environment Cadains for my infantry. Thoughts?

Agreed, the taurox and chimera are pretty similar, but when it comes down to it the chimera is way more satisfying to play. The only way I would play a taurox is if it were converted. I don't know why they even added the damned thing, they could have done way better in designing a dedicated transport.

That one conversion with the wheels could work, but I;m not a hue fan of making the whole thing a wheeled vehicle. I could see putting wheels on the front an keep the treds in the back to male it look like a Military Half-Track Transport, which I think would look pretty decent. Personally I don't think it looks as horrible as many people claim, not great but nothing bad compared to a lot of other models out there.

Half the problem is the tracks look awful. If you converted the tracks off an actual model tank I imagine it could look kind of cool.

The Hostile Environment Cadians are awesome, but it's probably more cost-effective to use the rebreathers that come in the plastic Cadian boxes. They basically fulfill the same purpose, and look awesome to boot.

That is correct, read that the Storm Troopers Taurox Prime is a Fast Transport so I just assumed the regular Taurox was as well . As for the Hostile Environment Cadians Andllus, I was considering converting them with the Hostile Cadian torsos and putting them on Scion legs so they look more like they are wearing Carapace Armor, and will actually have knee pads as well. Thoughts?

I bought one of the models (taurox)when it came out and never finished it yet. Dang other projects and real life. lol

I too say if your going taurox, go prime.

Personally, I would say it depends on your list. If your not planning on having the units always in the vehicle and staying back, a prime could be ok. For example, if you set the vet squad up in ruins or in a building, you can put the prime in cover near your rear lines to provide cover fire for your chimeras as they move forward.
Of course, you have russes for cover fire but only 3 heavy slots (unless going unbound or using allies/multiple FOC) and no everyone runs squads of them. The prime can supplement them. So depending on the situation, a combination could work well for you.
