I don't follow your logic here. Why should a lack of variation in skin color or sex make a story boring?

I mean that if the underlying message of a diverse cast is to show that we are all the same and that sex and color shouldn't make a difference. Then discriminating against a movie for having a homogeneous cast would seem to run contrary to the message.

Because if all people come from the same group, there is no inter-play between them. It's just a personal thing, but I enjoy movies better when they have that. We are different but equal, and our differences are interesting.

Sorry if thiss comes out a bit weird, it's 2:30 at night, and I need sleep .

Sorry to say, but not all people who share the same color of skin or gender are the same, whether it be backgrounds or otherwise. Diversity for the sake of diversity just leads to token characters.

Harold Ramis will make a cameo in the third film but it'll be a CGI version.

Their faces say it all. Movies gonna be dhhhuuuurrrrr. Especially with what looks like Saturday Night live style actors.

I saw Ghost Busters for the first time earlier this year. Kinda Meh movie, but I was born in 94 and saw Batman and Robin like 8 times at the movies because I loved it for some reason. Definitely giving this movie a miss.

I felt similarly; not sure what the big deal is. The original came out more than thirty years ago so the people who saw that in the theaters are no longer the target audience, which I suppose is hurtful to some.

You mean like Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, and John Belushi?

As said even the original was pretty meh... Seriously if you watch it right now I think you will find it not as awesome as you may remember it. I'm saying it as someone who watched it for the first time this year.

I think the only redeemable thing in that movie was the black guy who had no idea what was going on.

What, Chris Hemsworth? The only way that could work is if they take the piss out of him being so big and trying to type at a keyboard (see The Incredibles to get what I'm on about...).

According to the article they have, in fact, cast Chris Hemsworth as the secretary.

I am optimistic. It really depends on the script and actor's chemistry, like most good movies.

I remain cautiously optimistic.

Ghostbusters was an OK movie, and I enjoyed it, but it's not exactly Citizen Kane, so the overwrought melodrama about ruined childhoods (as some of my Facebook feeds whines) is just cringeworthy.

I have mixed feelings about Melissa McCarthy. Up until I saw Spy, I thought that Bridesmaids was a fluke, and that she was a no-talent actress. Then I did see Spy - which is both A.) utterly hilarious, and B.) rocking like, a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I now think that she is great as part of an ensemble piece, which this is. Kirsten Wiig also makes me feel like this could be a pretty solid movie.

So if it's "I didn't like the original, this reboot is going to suck" then why care at all?

I only think the choice of actors suck. At the moment the movie could very well be good. It could make the originals look bad. I was just saying that the actors don;t give me much hope for a decent movie.

The Original Ghostbusters remains one of the Movie Greats of all times:

It is one of the ONLY Science verses Religion films were SCIENCE WINS!

The Characters did not have to go find some spooky amulet, talisman, or tome to banish Gozer, Zul, and Vince Clortho. They used technology, created by Science, and capable of being used by anyone with a little bit of training to take down the bad-guy.

They did not have to "accept" some half-baked inspiration of how maybe their Sciences are not up to the task, and that the so-called "Supernatural" works by rules that are knowable and consistent, just like the rest of our universe.

In other words: There is nothing "super" about the "Supernatural," it is just another extension of the natural world, which requires tools and technologies to work with (just like one needs a microscope or atom smasher to work with the very small, or a telescope (Visual or Radio) to work with the very large.

And. . . I will BET ALMOST ANYTHING that they screw this up with the sequel.

It's brave of the director to cast four unphotogenic women in the lead, and then dress them up real ugly. Hollywood is still too shallow, and samey. this film has already earned itself a shot.

As for Batman & Robin, and th rest of the Batman films in the 90's franchise, because I am an oldster used to the 60's Adam West's Batman on TV through the seventies, I must say I actually like it. Who cares that the acting is crap the plot ridiculous and the villains chew the scenery, that is what Batman is supposed to be like. Some people take their Batman way too seriously, despite pretentious arthouse style re-imagery inn the late 80's, and admittedly a very good first film dependant on that, this isnt what the Caped Crusader is all about. Also the first modern Batman film was great because of Jack Nicholas' Joker, which in style was a direct throwback to the 60's camp style.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Err... what? I think you're taking the film far too seriously. It's a sci-fi film... which means that anything in it is related to some sort of pseudo science. It doesn't set up any kind of fight between religion and science. I genuinely think that you're looking at it with some confirmation bias, you're seeing what you want to see.

The first time I saw a commercial for a movie featuring Melissa McCarthy, I absolutely hated it (the commercial. I avoided the movie). Ever see somebody who annoys the hell out of you 'just because'? Yeah. That's how I feel. I won't watch anything with her in it. Didn't realize she had been part of SNL once. I accidentally saw an episode she hosted. Everything involving her was terrible. Like offensively terrible. wont make that mistake again.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
