Subject: Marvel initiates talks with Benedict Cumberbatch for Doctor Strange
Oh, I thought this was a given when my roomies told me about it-showed me an article, etc. Hope so, he's a good actor, and he can seriously pull off an arrogant character. Which is damn good for Stephen Strange.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Now, About all I've seen of him was the new Khan reboot, and I thought he did a pretty stand up job there.
You haven't seen Sherlock or the Hobbit?

No, and the Hobbit don't count; Voice work could easily be modified and it's not like he had to actually act with that.
Agree to an extent with you on the hobbit... However, IMO his portrayal of Sherlock is about on par with Robert Downey Jr's for "best modern portrayal of Sherlock"

I wonder if they will work in a Sherlock reference if there's ever a scene between the two.

I saw this earlier and since it was still "in talks" I decided to wait. Could be an interesting choice. As I understand it Joaquin Phoenix didn't really want to agree to as many films as Disney/Marvel required/wanted.

Having seen production footage, I would disagree. They used similar motion capture to what they did with Gollum.

Hated him as Khan and he doesn't fit as Doc Strange.
Yes he plays an awesome Sherlock but being awesome as one character shouldn't give him an auto pass to play characters that he is not suited for.
Luke Evans, Johnathan Rhys Meyers and even Keanu Reeves would be much better choices.
I was so looking forward to this movie but if they go with Cumberbatch, it will too big of a break from what I grew up with. Will detract from the whole movie because the guy just doesn't have the right physical presence.

Delays this could cause Sherlock aside --- -- think this is good casting.
Personally wanted the guy who plays Littlefinger in GoT but if this happens it'll be interesting for sure.

There was a bit of a movement online to get Paul Blackthorne aka Harry Dresden to be considered for the role? I imagine that though he was aware of it, his Arrow shooting schedule would be too busy, that's basically 9 months of the year gone.

If this goes ahead I'm not sure I'll be overly chuffed. He's a great actor, especially in Sherlock, but I'm not sure he's right for the role, as while he can undoubtedly do extreme arrogance very well, I'm not sure he can pull off the lighter side of the character. I recall when there were rumours that Johnny Depp was being cast I thought he was the perfect choice, but Cumberbatch? Not sure.
And the last thing Sherlock needs is more delays!
All that said, Marvel have been pretty spot on with casing so far, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Marvel's set up a big announcement for sometime today (Tuesday, in the US that is). Speculation is running along the lines of:
1. Some more Age of Ultron stuff.
2. Confirmation of Cap 3/RDJ's involvement.
3. Strange casting.
4. Spider-Man news.
5. Titles for upcoming films/film announcements.
I'm thinking it'll either be Strange casting, AoU stuff, or both. None of the rest though.
Avengers: Age of Ultron will end with a new lineup for the superhero team.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed rumours that the team will look very different after Joss Whedon's 2015 sequel.
"The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins," he told BuzzFeed.
"It's like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was.
"I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the [Avengers] roster is altered by the finale of this film."
Long-time comic book Avengers Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the Vision (Paul Bettany) will be introduced in the film.

Well.. I don't think they should do the Infinity Gauntlet anyway. That storyline, without the Fantastic Four, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, or the X-Men? Yeah, pass.

This is a pretty common assumption, but I suggest you watch Jon DiMaggio's documentary on voice acting as claiming not having to "actually act" while voice acting is pretty insulting to voice actors.

I don't think there's any danger of losing Cap, Stark, Thor or Banner before Avengers 3, as a) apart from Ruffalo they're all on contract for that many films (3 solo, 3 Avengers) and b) like you say, the whole lot so far has been building towords Thanos with the Infinity Gems here there and everywhere. I can see Hawkeye going in the next film if anyone, and by lineup changes I think they're really just referring to the addition of Quicksilver/Witch/Vision (and later Ant and possibly Strange).
After that, I think we'll see a very different lineup, maybe closer to the West Coast Avengers if Vision/Witch/Silver/Hawkeye stick around, and as for the villain of the piece, please do Kang the Conquerer, please!

Probably, but they have been setting up that storyline for quite some time now across a lot of films. I don't mind it changing I just hope that the original characters get to finish it before being swept out. I know they are in A3 in some capacity, but they may barely be there. If the rumors are true, such as Steve Rogers dieing in the next Cap movie, they will be more cameos or flashbacks than anything else.

Acting without the benefit of using your body or your face is just amazing if done right, and it really does take a good actor to pull it off. It is hard to project all those feelings and emotions with nothing but your voice, and the best animation without a good voice actor will always be terrible.
Some of my favorite performances are roles where voice is one of the few tools available to the actor, such as V.
Of course Smaug did also include much more than voice:

Sorry, but I think Reeves is about the worst possible choice for a character like strange.... Bewildered Stoner is not an actual accent, and yet, each of Reeves' characters has that accent.
