Just you, I think. The colour scheme is vaguely similar to WW2 Japanese army but the aesthetic is completely different.

Pant them in bright army green with red stars and they would make convincing Maoist Chinese troops.

They actually sort of do. Probably because of the cream and brown colors.

On moon miranda.

I think it's just the paintjob, they didn't exactly have the best 'Eavy Metal treatment. That said, there's no hard ethnicity on Armageddon anyway, they really can be ethnicity one wants them to be if that matters for some reason.

They look nothing like Imperial Japanese soldiers in uniform or gear. Especially not the Jungle Uniform nor the mainland uniform.

I have a lot of Japanese Models ad none look alike. Unless the modern Japanese gear looks like steel legion.

Not 100% different. There are a lot of similarities. However I'd agree that it's mostly just the color scheme. Let me fire up some photoshop...

And there you have it. Paint them mustard yellow and they look japanese. Paint them Fallshirmjager camo, and they look like fallshirmjagers. I bet you could get several other styles out of them, too.

Really, steel legion is just generic world war 2, not specifically oriental.

No, I could never start a fallschirmjäger guard army. Would never happen. I mean, they'd just be limited to infantry, and their tanks, I wouldn't even be able to run silly stuff like ogryn:

Oh feth me.

They look to be heavily converted from WFB Ogryn.

It's not actually THAT heavily converted, it seems to me. A bit of GS for sleeves, a bit of brass or plasticard rod put between the parts of a big shoota, and some other larger-scale WWII bits.

Except for the head. That face mask, helmet, etc. are all GSed. You could do 80% of the cool of this model with reasonably minimal effort. Of course, then it wouldn't look like this one.

Ok, the pricing on those is just insulting....

$35 for ten metal Steel Legion guardsmen.

$79.80 for ten metal Sisters of Battle.

Wonder why there aren't a lot of new SoB players?

Here its 55 USD for those Steel legion Soldiers

For sisters of Battle its 98 USD with only bolt gunners and a superior.

Yet people still buy them...

Would you pay 5.50 USD for one of those steel legion soldiers?

Its crazy, no other company (even the other "expensive companies") charges like GW does.

Maybe if they still came in blister packs and I wanted/ needed a particular model. But no, the current US pricing isn't too far off considering they were $3 per model back in the mid-90s. AU pricing is excessive.

On the gripping hand, Ironwind sells 'Mechs for ~$8-15 each, depending on the size of the model.

Are we talking "do they look asian" as in do their faces look asian? If so then not really.

If we mean "do they look asian" as in asian soldiers because of the uniform. Again... not really.

Definitely take most of their inspiration from WW2 Germans.

Which is really why they should be the quintessential IGuard force over the Cadians, lol. They are, quite simply, Space Nazis.

Which may be, consequently why they're not the quintessential IGuard army, lol. Because aside from the boots and the gas masks it's kinda hard to miss the similarities. Right down to the Y harness, ammo pouches and bedroll.

Probably not. I'd just go to eBay instead and get them for a lot cheaper. Thankfully they're metal, so there's no plastic glue abominations and I can just use acetone to strip them.

Swastakowey wrote:Its crazy, no other company (even the other "expensive companies") charges like GW does.

It would be even more expensive if I made a close-enough version of them from victoria miniatures.

No other company (even the other "cheap companies") makes stuff as high of quality and charges as little as GW does.

This

Spoiler:

Costs 5 more USD than this:

Spoiler:

In my country. GW is the most rip of model seller of any kind in my experience. Id happily buy from Vic Minis (and have armies from them and many other places) when you compare those rancid cadians with other products that cost the same.

Ebay is very rarely a good option for us as ebay sellers usually try scrap heaps out of shipping. And trademe can have good deals but its rare to see anything decent.

But on topic, no they dont look very asian.

Oh, right, aussies.

Nevermind, then. I'm sure solid gold toilet fixtures are cheaper than GW is down there. Still, for some strange reason.

At least you can still buy stuff from elsewhere and get it shipped to you for reasonable prices.

Sometimes yea, its honestly cheaper and easier to buy alternatives that people consider expensive around the rest of the world.

Also its New Zealand.... not Australian... (I think our prices are worse...)
