Really though, there is no prestige in terminator armor. It is a tool used by first companies (mostly) when needed. I don't think the assumption is that it is the exclusive gear of that marine.

Considering that CSM works a bit differently, typically in the sense that you earn that terminator armor by either raiding, having a dark mechanicus manage to make you some, or you kill the previous owner and steal his suit, which is where the "Exclusive gear" comes from.

Right, I was referring to loyalists. Good point.
That makes Huron's lack of Terminator armor most certainly a choice on his part. He doesn't want it, otherwise he would have taken a suit from someone under him.

Could it be that the Terminator armour is not as flexible to use for raiding missions?
He loses Deep Strike but he has Infiltrate anyways, so I guess he doesn't want to scatter off the ship he's boarding.

Do CSM have access to suits of dreadknight armor?
I thought only one chapter of space marines had them made special for them, and they never, ever turned traitor. Well... traitor-er...

Huron has had Power Armor for at least 19 years of 40K rules. 2nd edition Chaos Codex is as far back as I know of him in, in 1996.
So actually the break in fluff came when new authors wrote of him as having Terminator armor.

He got blasted by a meltagun and lost half his body. His "power armor" is actually more like terminator armor, and Huron himself is a giant and stands somewhere between nine and ten feet tall. He wouldn't even fit in terminator armor with serious modifications. Not to mention he'd need the power armor converted so it can support his continued existence. After the Meltagun shot Huron is basically Darth Vader. Yeah, which implies that the reason he doesn't wear terminator armor is because he just doesn't want to.
Or, I suppose, he can't. Perhaps he's on semi-life-support in his specially-made power armor, and if he takes it off, he dies (and, naturally, he can't wear a suit of terminator armor over his power armor).
He is on life support. As of now around ~50% of Huron's body is made of cybernetics after getting a large chunk of his body vaporized. Right now he has more in common with a Forge-Father then most other Chaos Lords.Huron also travels with a cadre of Apothecaries that constantly aide him through constant medical treatment.

So he is practically always not quite dead, not quite alive requiring sustained medical, tech maitinence to stay living and combat capable. Almost in as state on intensive care.
Not like he was patched back up, rebuilt and able to function minus support personal.

There is. You have to have special training to wear TDA and you need to be award Terminator Honours before you can get anywhere near a suit. Only 1 Captain in the Chapter (according to the new Codex) is allowed to wear it without exceptional circumstance. Terminators are the tip top Marines in the chapter.

His whole schtich now is infiltrating. When he was the tyrant he used massive numbers of astartes and guardsmen and tons of heavy artillery to smash enemies. Now that he's a renegade he switched over to a more infiltrating style. You can't infiltrate, in the crunch or the fluff, in terminator armor.

Part of it is that his 2nd edition counterpart didn't have it, and he was basically just resurrected from there.
ZebioLizard2 wrote:Considering Kharn was listed as having artificer armor in the fluff but lost it in the actual book, I'm just going with the fact that GW is pretty terrible when it comes to Chaos and their objects.
This is the other part. GW just has not spent any effort in really thinking about the CSM's in about a decade, copy-pasting the 2E unit list (without remembering their 2E fluff or mechanics) with some new plastic kits (that often bring things to the table that nobody asked for or cares about...looking at you Mutilators) and some WHFB mechanics (the challenges), and calling it good.

I remember reading that Huron wear his current heavily damaged armor to spite and mock his foes.
How the hell wearing a run down piece of crap "mocks" anyone but yourself is a mystery only Chaos could solve.

I'd actually take the other side of that. How are you mocking anyone when you're walking around in POWER ARMOR? You're still walking around in a mobile tank. Yeah, you look like a real big man there.
If he really wanted to show off, he'd arrive on the battlefield naked.

Well I guess he switches to regular armour to be more of a backstabbing bustard renegade . I wish theyd make flashmetal armore to more csm characters since it's kinda arteficer , it's just sily that magic chaos warp powers don't increase power of the armour :(

IIRC many marines are physically unstable from the start, requiring the apothecaries to monitor them regularly (and more often) just to make sure their implants and wildly increased metabolism doesn't kill them. So much knowledge has been lost.
As for Huron, he might have a suit of TDA tucked away but as a renegade raider he prefers to use something less bulky.

Good point made here, about it being called Fleshmetal. Fleshmetal suggests the model is mutated so much that their skin fuses with their armour, mutilators and Warpsmiths for example. Meaning they can avoid giving it to Kharn, Lucius, Ahriman, Huron, just by saying "Oh, they aren't mutated that much!"

Which is funny, because Lucius has obvious faces that SCREAM from his suit and writhe along the surface. Infact it should probably be a 2+ just because it's a unique armor at this point anyways, though Kharn not getting his Artificer is just lore breaking (despite still being in the fluff!)
