No. You'll get heartbroken and fail your tests because of that. After that you feel completely worthless and want to commit suicide.
High school relationships rarely last beyond high school too, so I would say it is not worth the pain.
Trust me, I know. My girlfriend just broke up with me and it hurts. It is a lot of pain for little gain. Better to just keep hanging out with your friends.

Yes, because experience is priceless. True, you can make a bad decision especially when you're young that haunts you for the rest of your life, but hey, that's life.

High school is the last good place you have to be stupid and do things that you'll get to laugh about later. Go for it, just don't do anything that's so stupid it'll follow you for the rest of your life.
Besides, it lets you get all the learning out of the way now. Way better to do that when you're 16 and nobody knows what the hell they're doing than when you're 21 and in college.
Hold the phone. I was supposed to everything figured out by the time I was 21? feth.

Exactly, after that you're supposed to know everything. Didn't they teach you that in preschool?

Its extremely helpful if you can get through your "crazy girlfriend" phase in high school. The earlier you get it out of your system the better!

This is a nonsense generalization, and you should probably go get some counseling.

To be fair most high school kids usually have a few (sometimes a lot) stupid, crazy, weird, borderline sociopathic, etc ideas. I know I did and upon reflecting further I would say a lot of the students at my school did as well.

Or, as it's been pointed out... the brain for this age is going through some serious changes, so... not realizing that a relationship will be temporary will be felt more keenly at this age than if I were dating at 28 and broke up with someone.
@I_C, give it a month or two, you'll move on, figure out a little bit about yourself in the process and come out the other side stronger for it. The "first" girlfriend is pretty much the worst. Yeah, it fething hurts, that's life for you. But, when you get knocked down, you get up, dust yourself off and make sure you learn from that experience (I won't say "you wont make that mistake again" because it wasn't necessarily a mistake on your part)
Honestly, of all the relationships that I had in HS, the ONLY female that I don't talk to, is the one I lost my virginity to. Having seen what she got up to after school was over for us, and my decision to really only communicate with people who "did something" with their lives after HS, means that she's about the most useless human being on the planet (and having seen posts pertaining to her through mutual friends, my hunches were pretty much all confirmed)

I agree, the first few gfs were pretty rough. It'll get better Iron_Captain. I was in a similar-ish situation. Being single gives you so much more time to do stuff in general. Having a gf isn't really necessary.

I have t agree with Cincy, Highschool is a time to do things wrong so you can do it right later.
I regret never taking the initiative like im trying to now. Playing catch up is not fun

I met my first girlfriend when I was in grade 11 and we dated for the next 3 years (until end of first year university). I would definitely recommend it as I have plenty of amazing memories from that time.
It is important to point out that she did go to a school on the other side of Toronto so I only really saw her on Fridays and Saturdays. It was exposure to a completely new group of friends and experiences I wouldn't of had with my friends where I went to school. However, I don't know if a relationship with someone from your own school would be as great.... you'd see them in class, lunch, after school.... probably get on each other's nerves haha.

Like others said before me, you might as well get the experience early if you have the chance.
It made things easier later on for me.

Any answers?
If you're in high school...
Odds are that you've got nothing but time, so you might as well have some fun with it.
Odds are that you don't have enough money to really waste any significant amount of it, so you might as well have some fun with it.
Odds are that, even if you were putting effort into other things, they would ultimately be unimportant, so you might as well have some fun with it.
