+1 for being humorous.

In all it seems like decent ways to expand an army with very specific models. Nothing I would need, but someone could definitely use these.

Bit dubious about DV in general. The box and these expansions seem very in favour of DA, with Chaos being buggered by sub-par cultists whilst DA gets bikers, ranged tacticals, heavy squads, etc.

The DA's ranged weapons tap out at S7 Ap2 in both DV and the Expansion. If you get both Chaos equivalents you have a Hellbrute (don't know the front AV, but assuming 12) and Landraider (Av14). Nary a melta in sight for the DA.

Unless you're going to have the Deathwing units walk right up to the Land Raider and punch it with fists, there's no actual way to take it down. Plasma weapons chances of glancing the Hellbrute to death are probably OK, but that but that means that the Terminators and Chosen are left alone (or safe in their Land Raider). Chaos have no dedicated anti-air for the flier, but it seems to be conventional wisdom that the DA fliers are pretty weak.

So it's a bit swings and roundabouts, really with neither group of units being particularly optimal or designed to fight each other.

Wow. Five whole Cultists. Stop the fething presses.

Anyway. Who needs a sequel. The book was better.

I can't help but think that GW would have sold far more of these if they had released them, oh, around the same time as Dark Vengeance itself and the Dark Angels and Chaos Marines codexes.

You mean like striking whilst the iron is hot? That would require a modicum of market research, and we know they don't do that.

I just might have to pick this up...

I could use more Deathwing Knights, and Ravenwing Black Knights anyway...

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Ravenwing champions can take melta-bombs and the Dark Talon can also be a Nephilim.

But yeah, seems like GW want to show new players how superior normal Land Raiders and DA fliers are...

I'd be willing to pick these up (repaint Dark Angels for my own chapter, my son's been wanting a Chaos landraider), but it's about 50% overvalued even at the price they're selling it.

It never ends well

Isn't including sub-par units the point though?

The starter set is aimed at novices, (happy days if some vets pick it up for the models), these expansions will be aimed at those same people and hoping that they are unaware of or insufficiently experienced to care about some of the units not being the best or most cost-effective (money or points) way of building up their army. In the process GW get to wash their hands of sprues taking up warehouse space.

Well some proper rebalancing or more realistic prices would do wonders aswell, well one out of two is a step in the right direction.

In my opinion they are definitely a cool package. Lots of cool looking models for a reasonable price. I won't be buying it because I own all of the Chaos models and I would prefer to spend the money on models I don't own, and I don't plan on collecting Dark Angels for quite some time (at least not until I have finished my Chaos army, and then after that I will build a Traitor Guard/Ork/Mad Max mashup).

Nobody wants to run the DA flyer and most DA players have enough terminators already. I don't see this one selling well, unfortunately.

I'll probably end up picking up the chaos version for my warband. The cultists for my Thousand Sons and the Raptors, Land Raider and Terminators for my World Eaters.

It's a pretty good price for all of that.

One of them filthy casuals...

This is my feeling. Every time I try to flyer it either gets shot out when it arrives, or does nothing to make up its points. The Ravenwing battleforce box was a great set. Gave you the full troop choice and plenty of upgrades for a great price discount! Sad to see that it's gone, luckily I have 3 full squads already and don't need another unless I wanted Apoc formations.
