Shall I remind you that this game is asymmetrically balanced?
D.VA's Ult is powerful. Yes. It can kill a whole team easily. Yes.
HOWEVER! It has its counters.
Let's compare it to, say, R.I.P. Tire- both go boom, kill everyone. Both can move that boom. More similar than Barrage, I think, which is more akin to Tactical Visor, I'd say.
Self Destruct can wipe an entire team. So can RIP Tire. They both deal a whole ton of damage, though I think S.D. might be a little more- I think a Raging Winston or NanoBoosted Hog might be able to survive the tire.
In terms of Safety of Ulter... D.VA is 'naked' for a while- but she has her pistol and can run/hide/whatnot, whereas Junkrat is stationary and unawares. However, the Tire has a larger range and more maneuverability, so Rat can be further from the battle, whereas you know exactly where D.VA is when she Self Destructs. So that's... relatively equal, if not in the same way, I'd say.
In terms of interruptability... Yes, RIP Tire can be destroyed and the exploding Mekka can't, but at the same time, Self Destruct is stationary, so cover is easier to get to, whereas RIP tire chases you down, and will actively attempt to bypass shields.
The biggest difference is in Warning Time. While you can hear the RIP Tire coming, you sometimes also can't, and distance and direction is often iffy. Self Destruct is loud and obvious. RIP Tire has a variable detonation time, controlled by the player, meaning it's more often going to get at least one or two kills, since it can be detonated early, even if not in an optimal position- since Self Destruct is stationary and with a fixed timer, it is, in fact, easier to escape from (or prepare for). Personally, I've died fewer times to Self Destruct than I have to RIP Tire, due to this.
For these reasons, I think Self Destruct is relatively balanced.
Oh, and FYI, D.VA gets her Mekka back regardless of whether or not the Self Destruct deals any damage or not. That was a balance feature that happened a while ago, because D.VA is NOT balanced around being out-of-Mech.
Also, yes. there's a lot of counters to S.D., since you know it's happening.
Reinhardt's shield, Symmetra's shield, Winston's shield, Osira's shield, Roadhog can hook it away, Reinhardt can charge it away (though those both do involve self-sacrifice), Zarya's bubbles, Zenyatta's ult keeps him safe, an enemy D.VA in-mech will survive, most anyone with a Movement power (which is Widowmaker, Genji, Soldier 76, Sombra, Winston, Reinhardt, D.VA, Tracer, Junkrat, Pharah, Lucio) can get out of the blast range pretty easily... Reaper and Mei can just ignore it via their Shifts, Mercy's Resurrect now makes her invulnerable for a while, so a very, very selfish Mercy could survive it, and I'm pretty sure that McCree might be able to Combat Roll through it with the right timing.
Which means that the only heroes with no recourse, or who are totally dependent on their allies, are Bastion, Hanzo, Torbjörn, Roadhog and Ana. And even they can generally get to cover in time.

D.va's ult is one of the many ults that sacrifices defenses and/or mobility for damage, such as pharah's, mccree's hog's, and junkrat's. You temporarily lose all of your armor, your defense matrix, and your thrusters in return for astonishingly high AOE damage. In this way you grant the enemy team an opportunity to kill you if they're proactive, but if they aren't careful then they have a very real risk of dying themselves. Against a team that lacks barriers, or one that has been split, or a disorganized one, you force them to seek cover or die. The problem with it that I often see is that savvy players will duck into cover for a moment then pop back up, and your ult has then only inconvenienced them for a few seconds. This is probably because I don't play D.va though (Rein forever.)

Being a D.va Main
pretty much
its mostly an inconvenience for coordinated teams. thats why i stopped caring about it and throw it over buildings on some maps when they dont expect it
most players are used to a certain tempo and if you break it they freak out
exception being grouped up with an enemy genji ulting (keep everyone together) so he gets maybe a swing in before exploding, ulting on top of a payload on overtime (really big as they often dont have enough time to get back on)
Tempo's a big thing, yeah. I think it's why the occasional Rush works so well, and is the purpose of Disruptors- one which you don't really see enough.
For instance, on Volskaya, the Defenders tend to build up the first door as a chokepoint, holding it HARD. So I like to take a Movement hero (Winston, Widow, Genji, Junkrat, etc) and jump the gap, but instead of attacking from behind, I just focus on capping. If the enemy doesn't come back to deal with me, then we get that point. If they do send someone to deal with me, they've lost a little front-line presence. If I die, well, okay, the enemy goes back. But it seems like when I keep doing it, they can't adapt as well- they get distracted watching out for me, watching behind them, when they're in the mindset of 'hold door', and that throws off the team's tempo, more often than not allowing us to push past the chokepoint.
A Flanker isn't supposed to only pick off healers, snipers and weak enemies, but to throw off their tempo. Even if you don't kill anyone, if you, as a Genji or Winston or Tracer, can keep some of them busy when respawning, so that they take those extra seconds to get back to the front lines, that slows down and breaks the enemy's rhythm.

That's new tactics to me. It sounds like it would work too. Too bad the games I play in don't have any tempo to begin with on either team .

I'm having the most horrendous Matchmaking. It's broken as hell. 3 Times in a row it threw me into a lost game with 10 seconds left. Then throws me into a game with 30 seconds left. Then throws me into a game with the most clueless teammates ever. I had a quad gold and a silver on damage. Then 2 10 second left matches again and another clueless team. Oh boy QP is SO MUCH FUN.
Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.
Lucio's undergoing huge changes in the PTR, as is Competitive play; if the changes go through, expect more aggressive Lucio play (just how I like it) and next to no drawing!

Her ultimate is powerful. Very powerful. But it has its counters, just like every other ultimate does. Those counters happen to be in heroes who are top picks right now, alongside heroes who also counter her other abilities.
Do I care about my ultimate being hindered by Reinhardt, or my DM being cut through by Zarya? It's how the bloody game works, for Christ's sake, and I must be doing something right to counteract them without my ultimate getting much more than 1 kill most of the time to get (on average) nearly 3 gold medals each match I play in.
I think it's one of those things that can noobstomp (like Reaper, Hanzo or McCree ulting, or Bastion holding down leftclick), but as I went up, I....just don't seem to get kills from SD any more, except when I get lucky or manage to outflank or drop it behind them while the team is distracted by something in front of them or frozen by Mei or Zarya. I don't die to it very often either, unless I get caught away from cover or I'm cc'd.
I find it more useful as a zoning tool. It's a good way to force the enemy team off a zone or payload for a few important seconds, and it's also good to force Genji to take cover when he's about to go on a killing spree.
"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."
With Orisa on live, no limits has become an veritable Somme made of barriers. It's kind of fun, but tends to lead to rolls because one team gets set up and the other team can't retake ground because they're only playing Orisa.

and it is different between the competitive and qp stats.
Yup. Also keep in mind that Competitive rank only registers whose played that particular hero this season, not of all time.
I'm hitting the Diamond wall right now Desu. Wishing you mutual luck

Sombra gets a buff to. Her voicelines when coming out of stealth won't be heard outside of 15 meters and translocator cooldown goes to 4s instead of 6
Sombra doesn't need a buff, at all with her bottomless smg and way to easy and quick to repower teleport away special.
I like Orisa, and I think she has potential. Nothing game breaking, but with an actual team she should be extremely useful.

Just witnessed a quadruple kill with Orisa's pull ability on Ilios. It was a one-in-a-million shot, but when you make it, it's the best thing that will happen that game.

I had such an incredible and lucky quad kill on Kings Row yesterday evening. Didn't get the POTG because Bastion left clicked and killed two people in a Zarya Ult and then died.
I built up my ult as Reaper, teleported on the ledge waaaaay up just out of the attackers spawn (It's slightly higher than the upper window/entrance of their base.). I ulted, dropping down, killing Pharah mid air and then fell down in between their team, killing 3 more. Then got out safe.
Edit: Story Event starting on the 11th. Omnic Uprising at King's Row. Probably a skin for Widow and McCree. Zarya's skin got shafted for now and is coming "Soon".

Eight lootboxes, nothing beyond voice lines or cash piles.
I started this event with around 300 credits; still can't buy a good skin from this event.
Yellow/purple cash piles need their amounts WAAAAAAAY boosted.
Why? You got 3 whole weeks.

The pve game mode is pretty fun, especially with all heroes enabled. Which characters have been fun for you? I've mainly stuck with Rein and Sym, but Genji seems fun with your dash constantly being recharged.
Also, I really want that highlight intro.

My friend and I did a D.Va/Bastion combo. He shreds all the big targets, while I mop up the little ones and soak up fire from Null Sector Bastions.

Doesn't matter that I have 3 whole weeks. It's been a problem since very early on. The "market" they have set up is dumb and they know it.
The "resale" value of duplicate skins/whatever is absurdly low. Getting a pack of all dupes and a pile of cash is a wasted pack at this point. ~300(I'm about 90% sure it was 270) credits to start with.
After 3 loot boxes from leveling, the free Uprising pack granted to you at the start, 3 packs for playing to 9 wins in Arcade, and 2 packs for winning each version of Uprising.
No skins from the event, just duplicate skins I already had(two Purples and 1 yellow), three Blue cash piles, a Yellow cash pile, two Purple cash piles, and a few voice lines/player icons for the event(one even duped itself in the same box which is just dumb).
After ALL of that, without buying anything, I'm sitting at 1010 credits.
