Been reading through the new IA book. Just wondered if the independant turret thingies on the fire raptor fire at normal BS after the raptor fires the hellstrikes? Or do they fire at the gakky BS1. If so what is the point of the hellstrike missiles?

It still is one of the vehicles shooting attacks and is therefore affect by ordnance.

Which is why everyone replaces the hellstrike missiles

But...they are independent? I.e:

" So long as the Fire Raptor is eligible to fire a weapon in the Shooting phase, each independent turret-mounted weapon may fire at a target of its own and these weapons do not count towards the number of weapons the gunship may fire each turn. "

So doesn't that mean they fire independently at full BS?

From reading that they may fire the pods in addition to their normal allowance of weapons and they may be at additional targets. Nothing there exempts it from snap firing if Ordnance is fired.

Besides the fac t that IA2:2nd lists the Fire Raptor with Stormstrike Missiles which are concussive instead of ordnance, so the point is moot
The Raptor can fire 4 Stormstrikes (zooming flyer can fire 4), both turrets (independent fire) and its maingun (PotMS). All at full BS.

Which gets me to ask a question which is bugging me for a few days now - fire arcs of the turrets? They are "turret mounted", do they have a 360° (180^°) fire arc?

Point isn't moot, the Chaos Fire Raptor in IA 13 comes with ordnance missiles. And, being Chaos, doesn't have PotMS. Plus does PotMS even allow you to fire an extra weapon? Or is it just an extra weapon at full BS, which only matters for vehicles going cruising speed?

They're turret mounted, yeah, but the rulebook states you draw arc of fire as indicated by the weapon mount on the vehicle itself. So very definitely NOT 360º.

Fair enough, so it's moot for Loyalist only
In that case, Ordnance states that you can only fire snapshots with "other weapons".
The Independent Turret Fire rule does say nothing against this.
It allows you to fire the 4 Missiles and fire the turrets at different target - all the while just as snapshots.
I'd wager this is not intentional, but that's how I read it.

PotMS allows you to fire an extra weapon more than usually permitted at full BS. Zooming Flyers can fire 4 weapons at full BS (unless snap shooting).

It can't shoot through itself, that much is clear. But can it shoot along it's nose?

It's most convenient to use the rules for sponsons, so yes you can fire along the nose, they have a 225 degree arc of fire.

Though I feel that if you modeled your Raptor so the side guns could slide all the way around, your opponent would have to give you 360.
