Hey guys... got a problem. I wanted to make a special ride for my flash gitz. Since I'm building a freebooters army, blue had to go in there. Since gitz are all about being flashy, I thought yellow might be a nice combination. But blue and yellow are the national colors of a country i'd rather see forever removed from the maps, so i had to think about alternatives. So I thought about substituting yellow for white, but - what does white mean for orks, actually?

Would help, too bigot.

I thought it was blue and yellow he didn't want. Curious what country it is, but not the point. He wants to use blue and white. I have no idea what is white to orks. All I know red makes things go faster but that is it. Now I am curious if other colours mean anything to orks as well.

I don't think white means anything to orks.

Blue is lucky, red is fasta, yellow is wealth, and green is orky. Nothing else has meaning to them AFAIK.

Its usually one of the the colors the Goff clan utilizes.

From what I've seen in the past...

Black - 'ard/tough
Blue - lucky
Red - speed
Yellow - wealth or 'more bang'
Purple- sneaky
White - death/deadly
Green - more 'orky'

I'm trying to figure out if he hates Kazakhstan, Palau, Sweden or the Ukraine.

The ork word for white is 'gul', which can also mean death, bones, skulls or rocks.

I think you missread me there. Blue + Yellow is the bad combination and to my best knowledge only this failstate of Ukraine uses that, apologies to any country i am not aware off that uses the same combination.

Edit: Damn. Sweden... didn't think about that. Right, yellow cross on blue ground, was it?

So, more to the point, white is "death" in ork understanding? Huh, thought that'd figure more often then. There isn't a single white clan in the lore afaik.

Yep, Sweden... and Palau... and Kazakhstan... and the EU flag as well.

Not much point hating colours because they happen to be on a certain flag, almost every colour combination is actually used for several nations.

It's like Americans talking about the red, white and blue, there's a huge number of national flags that are red, white and blue (just what comes to mind, Australia, UK, Russia, France, Cuba, Croatia, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Norway, Cambodia... I'm sure many more).

Yeah, but since my hometown now happens to be in that screwup of a country, i try to avoid that color combination.

You shouldn't let national colours get in the way of your painting; these are Orks after all!

If you still don't want yellow and blue as your primary colours, but still want them present, then consider creating a camouflage on their trousers or armour plates. And, since they're Freebooters, they can always have a stolen yellow shoulder plate here and there

For the record, my Freebooters wear blue trousers, black shirts and brown armour plating. The "nobility" of the warband have white striped trousers, and a few Orks have a few "borrowed" Goff shoulder plates with a new brown paint job. And naturally, there are a few random colours from other clans floating around. Steal as much as you can from the other clans and it'll look great!

Seeing as my buddies know about my great love for this definitely civilized, great european country with no problems whatsoever, I'll rather roll with the "as well as the national colors of Sweden" defense if anyone tries to mock me about that paintjob.
I was considering a combination of blue and orange instead, but complementary colors are eye cancer in paint form. Blue-yellow seems to be the prettiest choice in my head.
