I was thinking something like this:

Land Raider=200pts w/heavy bolters Calacity: 16 Models

May take TL Lascannon sponsons for 50pts (Reduces capacity to 10 Models)
May take Hurricane Bolter sponsons for 40pts
May take Flamestorm Cannons Sponsons for 30pts (Reduces Capacity to 12 Models)
May replace TL Heavy Bolter with TL Assault Cannon for 10pts
May replace TL Heavy Bolter with TL Heavy Flamer for free
May take Multi-Melta for 10pts

No, I'm a Space Marine player who wants Land Raiders to be more customisable. Most Chaos Warbands would not have Land Raider Crusader/Redeemers.

What specific hole are you looking to plug? What weapons loadout do you want that you can't have?

If you are a loyalist then i dont understand your thread. Loyalist already has lr with those weapon choices.

He means on one page instead of three different data sheets.

Kinda how they changed the venerable dreadnought.

When 6th edition codex came out, there were three data sheets for dreadnought.

Dreadnought, venerable dreadnought and iron clad.

But they upgraded the codex and now only two entrees. Venerable is an upgrade to regular dread.

At least in the digital version

Being BA, I think I would always just use the 200 point version with more points to buy more of them and more Killy squads to ride them.

The make more $ by forcing you to buy dataslates.

Personally I'd love these changes and my favorite land raider would become a hauss for 10 more points. 2 tl laz and a tl AC and a MM for 270. Not bad.

If we went this far why not other options like Plasma-Cannons and Auto-Cannons or the ability to buy the options for all optional locations.

I am trying to build one of those using a Redeemer.

As far as the Tri-Plasma Raider if you could pull off a capacity of 10 I would be perfect.

That would be an interesting aspect to have. The more weapons you add, the lower the model capacity becomes. You could choose between having a super bus with minimal firepower or a heavy weapons platform that can only fit a handful.

These changes really didnt change anything. He just took all three options, stripped them of their weapons and then gave the weapons as available additions.

So you would see almost no change gameplay wise from this setup, except that many people may just take the 200 point version with no upgrades.

Because right now the LRC has the hurricane bolters on it, but if I forego getting the weapons on it, I can add another terminator to my squad for that 40 points. And the hurricane bolters don't really add a huge source of power to my army.

I would rather that TLLC reduced capacity by 6 instead of reducing it to a set 10. Same goes for Flamestorm. This way you can have a 6 man Land Raider with both TLLC and Flamestorm. Why? Because you can. But I would almost never take sponsons if I had the option not to. LR is a delivery mechanism and I can put better weapons elsewhere for those 50 pts.

I got bored and crunched the numbers the best I could:

Land Raider (Godhammer) - Twin-linked Heavy Bolter & Twin-linked Lascannon sponsons
It's 5 searchlights to get to Heavy Bolter to Twin-linked Heavy Bolter (Mechanicum Land Raider, Horus Heresy)
It's 10 searchlights to get Heavy Bolter (take your pick, Heavy Weapons, Land Speeders, etc.)

So 15 searchlights for Twin-linked Heavy Bolter

It's 40 searchlights for Lascannon sponsons to Twin-linked Lascannon sponsons (Mechanicum Land Raider, Horus Heresy)
It's 40 searchlights to get Lascannon sponsons (Predator, Space Marines)

So 80 searchlights to get two sponsons of Twin-linked Lascannons (o.O expensive huh)

When you crunch the numbers out it leaves a Land Raider (Godhammer) with no weapons at a smooth 155 searchlights

Land Raider Redeemer - Twin-linked Assault Cannon & Flamestorm cannon sponsons w/ 2 extra passenger seats
Its a free trade from Lascannon sponsons to Flamestorm sponsons (Mechanicum Land Raider, Horus Heresy)
Flamestorm cannon sponsons = 40 searchlights

It's 20 searchlights to switch a Twin-linked Heavy Bolter to Twin-linked Assault Cannon (Razorback, Space Marines)
Twin-linked Assault Cannon is 35 searchlights

Land Raider Redeemer with no weapons is valued at 165 (but has two extra passenger seats) allowing us to guess it is 5 searchlights per additional seats, but lets wait until the Crusader is crunched.

Land Raider Crusader - Hurricane sponsons and Twin-linked Assault Cannon w/ 6 extra passenger seats
Hurricane sponsons are 30 searchlights (Storm Raven, Space Marines)
Twin-linked Assault Cannon is 35 searchlights

Land Raider Crusader is valued at 185 searchlights, but with 6 additional passenger seats, above we assume with the Redeemer that a seat is worth 5 searchlights so that would be 30 searchlights for 6 extra seats... bringing it to 155 searchlights. Just like the Godhammer.

End results:

What to take with a grain of salt because...

It seems if the Lascannon sponsons from the Predator are any indication it is simply the price of a weapon x 2 so if you wanted Plasma cannon sponsons I'm guessing it would be 30 searchlights.

And from Horus Hersey it seems Twin-linked sponsons are priced at weapon x 4. Seems a bit expensive honestly.

One interesting thing is the multi-melta. It's 10 points for a pintle mount, but twice that for a hull mounted or sponson mounted.
