Why did they call them Scions? Kasrkin is much better IMO.

Kasrkin is only in referral to Cadian Storm Troopers. Who I'm fairly certain are still canon and exist seperate.

The trouble with Kasrkin is that it is waaay too cadian.
Other regiments exist too, you know, and have Scions in them.

Anyway, I don't care what they call them as long as they keep their awesome models!
The old ones were very good, but I still like the "tacticool" look on the new ones.

Actually Storm Troopers/Tempestus Scions are shipped from one battlefield to another, only working with regiments on a per-mission basis.

Some Regiments do have their own Vetern divisions, but they are not storm troopers/scions.

So kasrkin doesn't exist anymore?

On moon miranda.

Kasrkin exist,, they're just specific to Cadia.

GW also has somewhat awkwardly hamfisted their distinction as to what they really are. When first introduced, it was very clear they were "Stormtrooper" equivalents. In the 3.5E codex GW had a doctrine called "Grenadiers" which allowed Stormtroopers to be taken as troops, and was there largely to portray Kasrkin. In the 5E codex, they removed that option and created a "Grenadiers" doctrine that gave Veterans carapace armor. Well, Kasrkin are very clearly equipped with heavier las weapons, they clearly have hellguns/hotshot lasguns, so as Veterans they're kinda awkward, but at the same time that's what the Grenadiers trait was intended to portray. Vostroyans have the same issue in that they're all supposed to have Carapace armor, but they're not all really supposed to be Veterans either.

But ultimately yes they still exist.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Kasrkin still exist, it's just the local Cadian name for their Grenadier/Veteran Troopers. They operate similar to Stormtroopers but they are permanently attached to their regiments.

Think of something clever to say.

Don't Kasrkin have their own regiments?

Also, Kasrkin are funny.

Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer - A standard-issue Imperial text that covers a vast variety of topics, this book is possessed by all members of the Imperial Guard as part of their standard-issue equipment. The Primer is a basic guide that details everything a Guardsman needs to know: principles and regulations of the Imperial Guard, issued arms, attire, apparatus, and equipment, basic battlefield policy and Imperial Guard organisation and structure, elementary battlefield medical instructions, and a detailed guide on the foes of the Imperium. No Guardsman should ever be found without possession of a copy of the Uplifting Primer, for the punishment is severe. The Primer is a basic guide to life in the Imperial Guard and the tactics employed by its regiments. Even elite Imperial troops like Kasrkin often times still rely on its advice.

Suuuure. Genestealers are slow, sluggish and stupid. Great info for your elite troops to rely on.

There's actually good stuff in there and I am pretty sure that they ignore the xeno parts after they killed a few of them

The Imperial's Guardsman's Uplifting Primer is good, but I think that the best bit about it is that some versions of it (not the old GW one, but the FFG games one in Only War) are mixed with the monster dercriptions and stats, and are commented by an actual guardsman veteran.

This shows the kind of opinion Kasrkin could have about the book: some of the stuff is good, but there is quite a lot of advice and info about Xenos that is to be ignored.
