All told? I'm down $274.47 on hobby/gaming/etc purchases. Expenditures of about $3,910.68 and completed sales of about $4,386.28, with some remaining negative balance from 2013. I should be back up in the green in the first part of 2014.

Hard economic times for some, GW price rises, and younger kids not making money right out of college
I have multiple hobbies, which all cost a good amount of money. I cycle/road bike, this is MUCH more expensive then wargaming. (The cost of my bicycle, upkeep, repairs, participating in tours/rides, riding for causes/donating, buying gear). I've easily put $4000 into cycling into the last two years if not more.
Wargaming is my smaller hobby. I spend maybe $50-75 a month on wargaming. Also - depends on your level of income. I'm barely in my early twenties so I'm just now making salaried money after college and can afford to up my spending. I'm guessing you make quite a bit more then I do in disposable income. Warming is still a cheap hobby IMHO

... same here. I keep seeing people that spend half or less than what i spend. LOL. No wonder my local game store loves me! I will say this... gaming is about the only vice / hobby / achilles heel i have. Some guys like sports memorabilia, some guys are into cars or bikes, or trains, or planes, etc., ... wargaming and video gaming are my vice and hobby wrapped up into one, so all in all, i don't feel too bad about it.
I have to admit, i went a little apeshit in 2014. I finalized an Ogres army, and got new kit for High Elves, and also picked up dark and wood elf stuff for my Host of the Eternity King, as well as dove into Xwing. I'm playing enough too that i'm thinking of (very) slowly building up a 3rd army that my son would also like, as in a year or two he's going to be old enough / mature enough to play warhammer on a small-ish scale (we already play xwing together, and he's surprisingly good at it, i think next is a skirmish game like mercs, or very small scale malifaux or warmachine). Sorta depends on what he likes though, and i need to like army #3 enough to build it and paint it (and spend my gaming budget on it ! ).
2015 should be a little more scaled back on warhammer, as unless they release new elf stuff, there's probably less than 100 bucks left of models i need to pick up to make a 3k ideal host of the eternity king with several different sidebar variants. That said, 9th is approaching, and who knows what will come with it.
What is a real bummer is that with the purchase forecast for 2015 being down from what i did in 2014, i was hoping to use some of that fundage to get some Warhammer Forge. Looks like that will not be happening though. :(

Jesus wept, some of the comments here make me think I'm living in the wrong part of the world, or in the wrong line of work at least!
I'm probably about ÂŁ600-700 for the year, although that's factoring in sales of either aborted projects and sales of armies which minus of the total spent - always try and have a rule of no more than 1-2 armies per system, if I get more then one goes on sale. I always find more enjoyment in the actual work on a project, and once it's completed and I've stopped to look at it for a moment it then just starts to take up storage space that other people start to complain about!

It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

All these people spend $1,000 up - what are you getting? Some breakdowns would be nice. And how do you handle it all? I mean not financially - but how do you ever have the time to even open it all - let alone put it together/paint it/play with any of it? Where do you store stuff when you buy $5,000 worth of it a year?
I spend a few hundred dollars a year and I get stressed out over how big my painting backlog is and fret over where I'm going to keep stuff - it's the main thing that keeps me from getting more.
From my previous post I said 500-600 which breaks down to:
~$300 for the Super Dungeon Explore KS
~$120 on Warmahordes stuff during the big MM sale.
~$100 on Freebooter's Fate stuff
and then I padded a bit incase I forget something small here or there or am misremembering the prices.
But even that feels like waaay too much stuff for me to handle in a year. I can't even imagine getting 2x, 3x or 10x as much stuff.
I feel like a lot of posters here must own warehouses or something.

Just under ÂŁ600 in 2014 although I did have 5 months out from the hobby, so would have been around ÂŁ1k otherwise.
Rough breakdown:
ÂŁ200 Painting (paints, brushes, airbrushes & compressor purchase which bumps it up a lot)
ÂŁ100 Models
ÂŁ80 Black Library books
ÂŁ85 Folding table (no longer have a permanent game table setup)
Rest was on bits and bobs:
Club Membership & T shirt
Light box
Codex
TLDR - More than I should have, less than I wanted to

This is an interesting question.
Probably over ÂŁ250, but less than ÂŁ500 (or atleats I hope so anyway!).
The biggest hit for me has been the new Blood Angels at the end of the year. I got the Death Storm box and Exterminatus book, the new Dex. I also got 2 2nd hand storm ravens for a mere ÂŁ10 each, but then had to get the missing weapon off each, so they probably came closer to ÂŁ25 each after all that.
I picked up a few of the new codex that came out but not all of them, modeling / painting stuff, a new KR case. We had a new edition this year and I bougtht the big rule books. Essh, this is starting to rack up!
I'm going to stop thinking about it now before I came to some shocking realisation!
I think for 2015 I might keep a record on hobby spend to see what I do actually buy in a year.

I have a hobbyroom in my House, in Old Times it was a whinecellar. The Rom has about 45qm.
I was building the hobbyroom myself and got alot of shelves and 3 Gaming Tables there.
Big terrain pieces are build and then stored on the Tables, as are the armies..2 armies per table+ terrain etc.
Building the purchases...difficult. I work alot and Travel alot. Sometimes when everything get to much and i Aim for my yearlY mini burn out i take 3-4 weeks of holidays and this is often the Time where alot of Friends visor me, we build stuff, Drink coffee and build terrain.
Since most of us Need this off Times Servelatwurst of my Friends do his Times for themslfs too, so i can build a well painted Army per year. But i have alot of things there that are unbuild.
I have some Friends with dont have much Money and i often buy them miniatures cause i want that they can keep up with the currently miniature range. Or i give them some from me. So it keeps up.

Upwards of $40K so far.
Don't really track spending on miniatures and what not - but my accounts show I spent $550 on metal alloys, $300 on mold blanks and about $1000 from my resin/silicone supplier. A lot of that went to other people though.
The big expenditure was the new workshop. Broke ground in October and it is dried in with all the wiring and plumbing done. Still have to do the drywall and finish the HVAC (all parts on on site - just need time to take care of all that). When done, it will have a 300 square foot game room, 150 square foot studio, 800 square foot workshop with about 800 square feet of attic space for mold and master storage. Bathroom, plumbed work sinks and cork floors throughout.
Still probably have another $10-15K to spend on various fittings and finishes.

$ 40K - trust me, it is a steal though. Other than the foundation work and hiring a crane to set the roof trusses - all the labor has been done by me (and a few others foolish enough to visit while I was working on it). I have designed it to have a secondary function of a guest house - just in case we get the itch to move, there wont be too many people who will be interested in a shop of that size...so I didn't want to complicate resale.
