The Forgeworld Castellax Battle-Automata looks more proportioned to the robots without looking like something from the Fallout universe. electro priests look pretty cool so I guess I'll be fitting in some admech to my grey knights.

I don't think the robots are helped by GWs paintjob. In a darker, more weathered style more akin to the Forge World Mechanicum, they would look loads better.

I'm not fond of the robots, to me the castellax look suitably mechanicus'y however these new ones look very... cartoony? I cant put my finger on it however to me they look alot softer than the castellax.

.....or a spare cargo ship?

I'm hoping the tracked fellows come with lots of bits. All I need to do then is find some spare torsos and add them to the tracked units I received from Curious Constructs/ Zinge.

Those robots are the best bit! The only niggle I have is that I'm going to need 2 codexes for this army. That's annoying.

But the models, all the models, HNNNNNNNNG.

Are those Electro Priests plastic? Didn't expect a kit that can't be used for two options.

This is a solid base for expansion. Getting all those feels I got when I first saw Tau and got back into the hobby,

I like the Robots.
I like all of these.
I just can't buy any until I know if I need to save the money for Genestealer Cult purchases.
Seriously, that is a basic biological need.
I MUST KNOW.

Seems odd the dual versions for all but the new kits are there?

Maybe they only have one build each?

From what I understand there's a while until they come. Later in the year in fact.

I think the issue with the robots isn't that they are bad scults or models but that they lack the usually gothic elements of 40k kits. They are just too generic, they don't fit into the atheistic that rest of the Mechanican forces have, making them look out of place and detracting from their look.

I think they really could have used a large Mechanican cog in the middle of their chest and a servo skull built into the helmet, that would have tied everything together perfectly.

The more I look at the robots (the only weak part of this release for me) the more I think it's paint job that does them disservice. But I'll make my decision when I can see them better. Interesting that they put the dual kit unit up for all the first wave releases but not for the ones that are coming out since I assume GW is making them all "dual" kits.

For Those unhappy about the new Mechanicus models to one degree or another, consider this army is probably best not filled with stock models
From a hobby perspective Mechanicus is like the Imperial version of orks: if you aren't making it your own with all manner of cool conversions and kit-bashes you are only doing the army half right imho.

The best ork armies are the ones in which the owner just "feels it", gets the character of the army and uses all the best bits, kits and 3rd party parts to make it his own. This army holds the same potential for those willing to put in the work...

Wait, the robots have a possibility of deflecting back a lascannon shot?

There MUST be alternate heads on the sprue for the Kastelan too, surely? (also, why the newly-corrupted spelling? Copyright-proofing?)

have to see the stats for sure but the rules seem pretty solid.

I like that you have to plan a turn in advance with the robots.

You can deflect back a lot of mean things now, which will be kinda fun.
