It's like a cross between the Castellax and the Contemptor.

I think the only thing that lets it down are the "eyes" on the visor.

It looks like that might be a separate bit though so might be able to put some a skull and some wires in there instead.

That effect on the visor is just amazing. Must have used a single-bristle brush like you see with egg painting in Europe.

You know Gits & co, they could have gone with an ornate trim and gone for a deep diver helm look, and it would have been PERFECT. I may buy this model just to "fix it."

Either do what he did on the mech, or on his termie sized navigator armor suits. GS around them to make a curved trim. Rivet. Then at the base of the visor, sculpt a small aquila or AdeptusM symbol.

I'm really thinking that we need a "paint the eyes on the robot" competition here... something to entertain us until the second half of the dex comes out.

I am with H.M.B.C on these, I really like the Kastellan's. Combined with the Datasmith and rules they are a "must have" for me. Roll on May 9th for pre-orders and May 16th for release day.

Edit: Gah, with all of this photoshopping I cannot see the Kastellan's without my avatars eyes in them. Damn you!

After all I think I'll skip trying to convert that ugliness and will just wait for the inevitable Imperial Armour 14 with all the awesome forgeworld robots units. Anyway I already have a lot of conversion ahead of me with my new Ordo Machinum project

No, not at all. I'm not that great at using photo editing software.

I tried some brass (it didn't turn out that well!) as well for those interested. If you want to edit that too, go ahead.

They aren't as gothic as the other imperium stuff. Probably because they predate alot of that technology. I'd imagine they were originally entirely chrome and from the distant past when technology was at its height. And they sat in vaults on forge worlds and were repainted in the livery of their FWs, as ordered by their tech priest masters. I will however be making additions to the models (dreadknight purity seals, hazard stripes black/yellow and decals/cogs etc, im unsure what im going to do about its head though.

Yes. It's the Kastellan.

That's what I thought, Forgeworld doesn't make that unit, they make the Castellax Battle Automata, and they're all on the big oval bases, The Kastellan is on a Dreadnought sized base. Buying the forgeworld Castellax would put you at a disadvantage size-wise.

It also sort of looks like Deep Six from the old GI Joe...
