Also dont all WK now just run the double Ds? so no invul but probably foot in ruin itis
Not my WKs. In my opinion the invulnerable save + D-sword + Suncannon combo being a free swap is a no brainer.
I think admech would rather deal with the sword+suncannon than double dcannons. A fair number of people are going to be running their own knight and some Robots and those stand up well to suncannons and scatter lasers. They can also play keep away from something with a Dsword until it can be brought down by Grav or Rad
Ye they got one turn to play keep away, since the WK can assault on turn 2 if it wants to. It will always deal more damage and demand more attention by being a threatening stomping D swinging close combat threat with a few ranged guns, than by taking pot shots from somewhere against random infantry units and whatnot. The increased survivability that the scattershield brings just adds to its points effectiveness. There's more efficient sources of ranged D available in the codex.

Bigger bases, and the models standing on pretty damn big rocks to make them as tall as the actual models.
I do like those Forgeworld models a lot, but I assume that if you're bothering to convert them with wysiwyg grav weapons, then you're probably also interested in modeling them to match the size of the unit they're counting as.

Dang I was hoping they would be on 40mm bases so I could use my Thallax for counts-as.
But I am pretty excited for adding in these units down the road. That being said I am not at all regretting putting some Arc weapons on my Skitarii, the scout move really comes in handy IMO, and the squad is so cheap.

do remember that forgeworld will release IA14 making some of their mechanicum stuff available for 40k...so in the near future, you'll probably be able to play with the myrmidon model as it is
still, i understand the urge to toy around with those beautiful models, I'm currently creating an Ordo Machinum Inquisitor with a mix of both myrmidon models

Yeah I think Skitarii are fine for arc weapons. They have lots of ablative wounds compared to these tread dudes. A few bolter shots could knock out one of your heavy weapons on these cult mechanicus guys.

there is a rumor about it on B&C, not sure about the validity of it. But anyway it's not hard to guess it will indeed happen....I'm guessing early 2016 / after the main Adeptus Mechanicus codex

Remember guy we still have no idea on points costs as far as I know for unit equipment(unless I missed something).
Also which units go in which formations, so on and so forth. Will have to see before I get too excited. Mechanicus sees very expensive resulting in a very low model count while also not being the most durable.

While that makes it better, it still suffers from the 1 BS3 shot problem on a 50pt model... Alsooo it's competing with the heavy arc riles, which look a lot more reliable. Yeah... Not so great for those reasons, but still an interesting choice. I'll surely be taking the new toy. Arc guns are dedicated vehicle killers, but this Torsion thing is way more versatile. At S8 Ap1 it has enough punch to pose a credible threat to Characters and Monstrous Creatures (and Gargantuans, for what matters). Btw, I suppose those extra wounds are inflicted after saves, but there's no indication on the French text as to when does it happen.

Judging by the translation, it operates like D weapons. Roll to hit, roll to wound, roll save, roll # of wounds.

honestly wouldnt it have been easier to just give them Str D, or perhaps StrD with -1 to the table.
I guess str8 AP1 means it cannot ID T5 and it wounds T6 or below on 2s rather than 3s.
Seems bad rulemaking

Yeah Torsion might as well be Str D -1. Only difference is it's harder to hurt vehicles cause you have to wound their armor, and that non-vehicles can take FnP against it.

Exergy wrote:I get that is it different, but it isnt that different. creating rules just to create more rules.
Actually it is very different. D-1 is a 3+ to wound or pen anything.
Str8 is a 2+ against T6 and less, a 3+ against T7, 4+ against T8, etc. That means for every toughness except T7 it is different. Against AV11 is the only AV where Str8 and D-1 are the same, every other AV is different becoming an extreme difference at AV13 and 14.
D-1 also would preclude FnP and gives a modification on the resurrection protocols. Then there is the entire interaction with ID and a variety of rules with +1 or -1 to weapon strength.
In fact the only similarity is the D3 HP or wounds lost.
