I fail to see why this is an article, and not simple a forum post. It's incredibly limited in scope, as well as being a snapshot in time to one specific version of the waveserpent compared to one specific version of the venom.

I have removed it as an article, and suggest that, in future, you simply post topics like this in the 40k tactics thread.

Anyway, because of that it makes no sense to shoot them, too many shots are wasted because they get ignored, so I just let them hammer me and shoot at everything else.

I can sorta see where the bloke is coming from.

Or punch them. If you can get close then punching them is always the way.

Aye Ive twatted one in CC with some Hammernators before, but shooting them is pointless.

So they does sort of make them insanely good right? You cant say "shooting them is pointless" for any tanks in the SM codex, even the LR might have high armor, but it doesnt have any of those really annoying features where you actually think you have scored a pen and then they drop some truth bombs on you. "Oh well hang on, I get to roll this and ignore it all" or "I get to roll this and you only glance"

In fact, the fether seems to do it all the time. So either the OPs premise is a pretty sound one, of the fether I play is making up rules as he goes along, safe in the knowledge I know feth all about the Eldar codex.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Whatever the OPs and article's points are are, they irrelevant due to the awful logic he uses to support them. That is why there are so many people criticising the article.

Everyone knows that wave serpents are very powerful, this is a fact. Some people will say they are imbalanced or gamebreaking, this is more opinion and is harder to determine.

Fair dos like, I didnt think the article was particularly sensible, I just liked the original premise because I have taken to utterly ignoring fething Wave Serpents.

Don't worry Matty, I only make up rules for Necrons when I play you. Eldar codex I rock straight as an arrow.

Are there people actually defending the Wave Serpent as not being too powerful?

"Game breaking" was the language used in the original post. Since edited. This whole topic/article is a waste of time. Glad the article was removed. It wasn't done very well and extremely limited in scope.

They're game breaking. You have to base your whole army on a hard counter that will lose almost any other game in order to kill them.

Absolutely not true. Perhaps in the context of a Serpent Spam list - but a couple wave serpents are not going to crush your army.

No one has said anything about how effective it is at killing flyers whilst not having any AA mounts. Just bulk twin linked firepower.

I think it's BIGGEST issue and it has other issues is the fact that the TL scatter lazer is OP to begin with and it takes the OP serpent shield and makes it even more OP. Plus lets just throw a pseudo rending str 6 weapon on for 10 more points...come on man. This thing is better armed than most main battle tanks of every army. It transports troops (awesome troops) and can jink for 3+? usually while costing less than stuff it's obviously better than....WOW.

This thread should get closed. We are discussing an article that doesn't exist.

Why dont they simply take away the serpent shield upgrade?

They should delete the Wave Serpent all together.

Eldar troops should have a 10 point backpack harness in which they can carry 1 other troop on their back in return for twin link. And that should be their only transport option
