Subject: Question about the N3 rulebook

Now, a retailer in the UK still has some N3 rulebook with the model, and I'm considering buying one. I was just wondering what the fluff part of it is like? I love reading fluff, and looking at art, and (understandably) most things people have said about N3 so far was about the rules side, so I was just wondering what people's opinions of the other book are. Thanks!

The fluff part is an entire book in and of itself.

How much do you like infinity?
I skimmed it. Been to busy playing it and painting/building to sit and read. Plus all the fluff I want on Aleph isnt in this book so.
If I could have paid 30$ less for just rules I woulda skipped fluff.

Can't really say since it comes down to opinion.
If you want detailed descriptions on the units? Sure, that's great.
There's very little, in my personal opinion, of details that really bring the world to life like you see in the absurd amounts of books that GW puts out.

If you are starting to play the game, and have an interest in the background material and the game universe, or want to see some absolutely stunning artwork, I would say the book is damned near essential.
It's possible to play and enjoy Infinity without having it or reading it. But, I certainly think it adds a few extra plus points to the experience.

Wait for the rpg for that.
I have all the rulebooks (n2) and have ordered n3. The fluff in the original n2 rulebook was ok. Descriptive, fairly interesting, but it didn't truly grab me. That said, the campaign paradiso fluff was excellent, and they're really starting to add both depth to their world, and grit to the background. I think they're getting better at it, and the longer it's out, the more they can grow it and develop it.
My opinion? Dive in.

Thanks guys. I have a very rough handle on the fluff of infinity where it is now, but none of the kind of origins (I own HS and C , but I never had the 2nd ed rulebook). So I'm assuming it has the history of what happened between now and 175 years in the future?

N3 is my second rulebook ever (a), but like Kanluwen says, if you want history fluff, there's not that much in N3 it seems. There's plenty of info on each faction and troops, but it feels like a mini-codex for everyone plus some bits and pieces in the form of a computer log to get a quick view of the history/setting (I don't know how the other rulebooks are written)
Still, compared to a codex, I really prefer the core book. But that's just because it skips the modelling part and the rules part and contains just fluff. Since this is my first Infinity book I really like this
Plus, apparently I pre-ordered (didn't know that lol) and I got the model aswell

Yes it's possible to join the dots of what happens between now and then, and there isn't too much suspension of disbelief. There are actually a lot of comparisons to current political climates in terms of the relationships between the major powers, and I think the whole thing has got quite a realistic ring to it. Certainly, I can't wait to see the RPG and the stuff they come up with for that.
It's more of a 'hard' sci-fi, of the kind of Peter F Hamilton or Greg Bear would write about, rather than a space fantasy or space opera.
