Fruits Basket is one of the most legendary shoujo manga ever created. It's like the Evangellion of shoujo.

I’m not a fan of the character design for Fairy Gone so far, and putting legs on their cars and trucks is stupid imho. Demon Slayer is rather awesome so far though. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of that water sword we’ve seen glimpses of in the credits.

This season has a few fun series:

* Carole & Tuesday: for the Watanabe goodness
* Hitoribocchi no OO Seikatsu: if you want adorable and cute
* Kimetsu no Yaiba: looks really good and I hope the story delivers
* Kono Oto Tomare!: Interesting, for now. It has potential but we'll see.
* Sarazanmai: for weird, strange but fun. It has a good kinetic energy to it

and
* Fairy Gone: I really want to like it but they don't make it easy. The character designs are good, worldbuilding are interesting, the animation is okay, but the direction, storytelling, and cinematography are a letdown. It's like somebody messed up the third jump in a triple jump competitions. It's all "okay, good, now just don't mess up the landi… ah no!". There's potential but the first two episodes don't fill me with confidence for the rest. There are these good bits but it's all overshadowed by its generally lacklustre presentation. It could have been actually good and it's frustrating that it isn't.

Whats somewhat ironic is Mob Psycho 100 season 2 IMHO was just a good and at times better than season 1 and there have been several series that did imrpove after season 1. Though granted, OPM season 1 did set the bar high, but if Mob Psycho could pull it off, why not OPM which argueably is bigger and more popular. I can't help but think given the studio and director doing OPM season 2 that they went with the B team and it shows.

the studio change from madhouse to J.C. Staff and the director change have hurt it pretty badly, which is a damn shame.

I've started watching this one called Black Clover on Cruchyroll, it is quite fun but is going at a breakneck pace and the main character is really loud!

I binged that a couple months ago and have been keeping current since. Main dude is Super screamy. He gets a little better as the series goes on, or I just got used to it, but yeah, it’s really annoying at the start.

Haha yea! I've hit a snag to be honest. During each episode Crunchyroll shows 7 adverts, but on the xbox app there is just 1 advert for the xbox play service.

There is over 70 episodes of this series, I'm not sure I can take watching the same advert 500 times!

It's too late, they got me... Yuri is master, hail to the great Yuri

Asta is very shouty, but he is fantastic at crunches and he is weirdly motivating given how hard he works at everything.

on the forum. Obviously

I really want to like Fairy Gone, but the terrible CGI monsters and pacing ruin it.
I mean, if you are going to use bad CGI make everything bad CGI. It wouldn't be as jarring then.

Shield hero did the same thing in the latest episode, which was disappointing.

I've said it before, the Shield Hero adaptation is seriously disappointing, because the source material was so good.

So does anyone know if Dragon Ball Super: Broly is on a legal streaming service in the UK? I'd like to watch it but the DVD is like £15. English dub preferably as I can't stand the Japanese voices!

Sigh,

Ghost in the Shell (live action) is on TV, it's ok, but it just makes me wish they'd stuck to the story rather than mixing things up and turning it into a Robocop parody

(and why change the Major's name?)

Hollywood, mutter, mutter

I don't understand complaints about the GITS movie story. GITS has NEVER had internal consistency with itself. The various story arcs all have conflicting information. But thats kinda the point.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Because it's a randomly assorted hodgepodge of plot elements from different iterations of the franchise thrown together at random in a way that none of them are very interesting anymore with a character arc that completely throws out the window everything that makes the character of the Major interesting and reduces the entire thing into a bland series of cliches, a true travesty for a series that has had a defining influence on cyberpunk in film.

I disagree. It certainly wasn't the best GITS, but I think it was a perfectly acceptable adaptation. It stayed faithful to the source without becoming cheesy.

I started Carole and Tuesday last night. Only one episode in, but I like what I see so far.

Also color me amazed when I fired up my bit client for the first time in three months and discovered not one, but two(?!) sequels to FLCL??

When did that happen and what rock was I living under?

You'll wish you'd have stayed under the rock. They both are terrible. Not "Oh it could never live up to the original", but genuinely just bad.

Yeah, the FLCL sequels are just missing something the original FLCL captured.

OMG! An Anime thread! Here?

Very long time Japanese fan here. Remember the 90s when Channel 4 showed a 3-part series called "Cyber City Oedo:808" back in the early 90s and it was pretty good. Considering I disliked the anime("Manga") thing at the time, it was damn enjoyable. Years later, got hooked on the whole thing...

Patlabor: The Movie was a winner. Loved the detective / action theme and the ending was bloody epic. Shown on BBC 2 during the early hours. it got me hooked for life. The bit where Noa is falling through the collapsing Ark( inside Alfonse ) was thrilling stuff.

Damn, happy days.

Yeah. Heck, this might be one of the only threads which has an older version of itself that got locked because it was too long.

Ok I need some help with this one.

There was an anime movie/mini-series that came out probably in the early 90's here in the US that I really want to rewatch and I cant find it anywhere.

I don't remember the name but I do remember sort of what it was about.

It was basically a story of a pre-human civilization that was on mars and ended up wiping itself out with wars/pollution. At the end of the movie the main protagonist decided to hit the big red button and kill everyone off, but with some kind of soul siphon that sent all the martian souls down to earth where they possess'ed the cavemen there.

DOES ANYONE know the name of this anime?

That very well could be it. Im checking to see if I can find a good online version.

There was apparently never a DVD remaster of it so only VHS transfers are available.

They both happened last summer. One at the start and the other at the end. The first of them is just awful. It tries to recreate the series visually but has zero of its soul. The second one actually fares better by not trying so hard to look like the original. It understands what makes the original special a lot better, but is still a pale imitation. I'd be curious to see what my response would have been if I had JUST seen the third season and not the abysmal second.

Hi Gang.

I tend to take a 1-2 year hiatus from watching anime once Ive cought up on one piece and watched whatever else Ive missed.

Now, is it me or has the quality taken a nose dive down a sewer??? There seems to be 100's of some mobile game based adaptaion chinese knock of anime flooding in and they are all absolute trash fire tier garbage posing as anime..

I d have a pretty old school(one could say conservative) taste.

Apart fromt the classic Bleach & co. I love anything mad house gets involved in and hajime no ippo has to be one of my Favourites. But lately it seems half the stuff getting pumped out isint even drawn, its some sort of cell shaded rendering.

Are the years of Darker than black and FMA just gone now?

Does anyone have any recomendations and I've missed something?
