Battleship girls might be a thing. But it's a very, very weird thing.

Also, what exactly does "Kantai" mean? Because I figure KanColle is one of those weird 'odd-abbreviations' the Japanese do, for Kantai Collectors (based on what the game sounds like). Collectors is simple enough. But what's Kantai?

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

The ending was the worst. I'm sure just because the world dictator died, that everyone would be happy and no one take his place. And the spatulas thing. Oh and the geass children....lugh.....

Is it me, or is the animation quality of FMA : Brotherhood worse than the 2003 version? The 2003 version looked better.

A little bit, and Brotherhood has more of the kind of "kiddie" animation, for lack of a better term. Like the oversized sweat drops and extra-cartoony punchlines. But the fight scenes are just as well animated, and plot and pacing are phenomenal once you get into the meat of the story.

I am the Hammer. I am the right hand of my Emperor. I am the tip of His spear, I am the gauntlet about His fist. I am the woes of daemonkind. I am the Hammer.

I never really noticed a difference in the art style, aside from the occasional cartoony homage to scenes from the Manga. overall the art was the same quality.

Yeah, I don't see what you guys are talking about. I found that FMA: Brotherhood was about on par with the first FMA. In some cases better IMO.

And storyline is what really matters here. Not some very minor animation differences.

Indeed. FMA: Brotherhood by far blew out the 2003 anime out of the water when it came to the overarching plot, particularly the really iffy ending concerning the 2003 one. Plus the 2003 one didn't have one of the most badass characters in Brotherhood:

Indeed. And the one flaw in FMA: Brotherhood was that there wasn't nearly enough General Armstrong.

Yeah, I was honestly hoping to see her more in the last few episodes of the series when things were really ramping up. I mean Crocodile and Fu got their moments of glory, she really just kind of went with the flow of the coup. Would have liked to see how she would have fared against the failed Bradley specimens.

Just got done with hellsing.....Really fun until the final episode, then it just dragged and dumbed exposition.

Was it Hellsing Ultimate? Or the other more...questionable earlier anime adaptation?

Ah, fair enough. After the fight between the Captain and Seras it did get a bit tedious with how they were drumming up Alucard again. That and how long it took for the Major to finally bite the bullet.

The usual translation is "Fleet Girls Collection" but the literal translation is as Draconic described above.

As far as it being a weird thing goes, is it really any odder a concept then a lot of other anime? Look at perennial Dakka Animu favorite Infinite Stratos, or Strike Witches, cute girls strap weapons to themselves and make with a spot of the old ultra violence, GuP takes it on a slightly more realistic bent, but the bits and pieces are all there.

Yeah. I'm actually kinda okay with that. I like moe stuff, and I like brutal, soul rending dramas with tons of character death, outside of a few exceptions, I'm really not a huge fan of that. Oh well they seem to be following a bit of the historical plot with the fight for W Island
Spoiler:
(the real IJN Kisaragi was sunk there, by an aircraft) so with Midway likely coming up we're either going full tilt towards drama and feth your feelings with a rusty chainsaw, or we'll see start seeing significant divergence. (for those who don't know The Battle of Midway was a critical defeat for the IJN where the entire Kido Butai, including Akagi, who's been holding the mentor position as of now show wise were sunk by American aircraft.

Spoiler:
Fails my fat ass! I DID NOT expect that, ok? I'm not a naval history buff, I just love big fething ships with big fething cannons like the Yamato, so I had no idea about what happened at the "W" island. I thought KanColle would be like "Girls und Panzer" but with ships instead of Tanks so I was dumbfounded when it happened.

According to Reddit, the "Japanese" twitter was in flames too: no one liked the idea of watching their "ship-waifu" sinking.

Maybe all of this discussion should be in spoiler tags?

Spoiler:
From what the trans nationals (mostly Japanese) are saying on my KanColle forum, it's not so much a love for Kisaragi, but fear for their own shipfus. I think it'll be good if balanced right, it means there will actually be a bit of arc, some character development perchance beyond Fubuki doing her Rocky routine. The actual chance for being sunk provides a little actual weight beyond the usual moeimu. Like I said I just don't want them to go too far. Madoka territory would make me a sad teitoku.

I kinda felt Kisaragi's death was poorly handled however, they just ran around setting up as many death flags around her as they could...

Spoiler:
Yes, you are right, that's what I wanted to say with the "No one liked the idea of their ship-waifu sinking", that there's a possibility of their own going down.

And yes, I really don't want madoka territory either, but it was yet again the ep3 that said "Hey, this gak ain't all sunshine and rainbows!". I just want my fun and cute moe from KanColle, I have plenty of drama and tear-jerking moments thanks to Death Parade.

Oh, and yes, the flags were there, I just couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe they would actually do it. Even when she said "I'll tell you after you return from the mission", that MASSIVE flag got me thinking but yet I thought "Nah. it can't be. It just can't be."

On the plus side Ep 4 was fun while keeping with the action, and Ep 5 has confirmed Kaga and more Kongou!

So, because you guys keep going on about this kancol thing I tried the first two episodes.

I have lost a bit of respect for all of you. This may be the most blatant fan servicy merchandise selling anime I have ever seen. Plus all the designs are terrible. I am genuinely annoyed it's well animated while far better shows get nowhere near this treatment.

Ah c'mon, it doesn't have that much fan service, only when the ships are wrecked. Enjoy the moe, big cannons and explosions and lolis
