Even though the 'last episode' and then the 'summary episode' both seem to confirm the alternate reality/robot+girl/whatever thing actually happened to retcon the bad stuff... it was a hell of a punch in the gut when both events happened. Actually when Tomoya was thinking about Nagisa, or telling Ushio about her... that was almost the worst. Except that last scene with Ushio... holy crap balls that was brutal. It was so rough that even when the robot thing happened and then it seemed to be confirmed in two episodes that there infact *was* a happily ever after ending... I was reeling to the point that the happy stuff seemed surreal/ less believable.
The pacing at the end really threw me off. First Nagisa, then several episodes that almost let you come to terms with that and maybe see a silver lining, then Ushio complications and then BAM really bad BAM happy stuff. Just feels like it could have been spaced out a little differently
Still must have been a good show to have me so darn invested in the characters that I give enough of a crap to be worried about it

Umm that's kind of a big thing in anime. It's not like it just started. That said i don't get these complainers. If you don't like it then don't watch it.
That's kind of what I mean. Like, anime is effectively based around the foundation of:
Real life BUT TO THE EXTREME! YEAHH!
big explosions, big romances, big monsters, big atrocities, big muscles, big swords, big tits, everything. It's all just real life but biggr and better.
Complaining about an aspect of that is like cutting off someone's arm and then telling them to play base ball. It would work, but no where near as well because it's an important part of it.
I'd disagree. There's plenty of incredible anime out there that isn't sexualized in the slightest. Especially not to the extremes of ecchi. It's a common trope sure, but it's hardly a vital part of the genre.

Canaan, and Last Exile off the top of my head. I don't recall Darker than Black having much either, although it does have a bit of beefcake, which is always fun.
There is quite a bit though, although I'd wager it's more to do with it being marked to teens and college age kids. Although there are expectations, Hiro Mishima's works tend to have lots of cheesecake and beefcake, because the guy likes drawing stuff like that.

Miyazaki, Voices From A Distant Star, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, there's a pretty large portion of the film market that's just good stories, and same for film and TV, there's plenty of anime that has what I'd call "normal" sexualization. By which I mean women and men are of fairly normal proportion for the most part and any sexual or romantic interactions pass the reasonable person test or are otherwise not being used to "sell" the product. A little nudity does not oversexualiztion make. When the nudity is the entire point of the anime, and features are insanely exaggerated as an actual selling point, that's oversexualization. Which is in and of itself, not a bad thing. Just not a corner stone of anime.

Ahem, I believe I've been misunderstood. Or rather, I believe I phrased myself oddly.
It is my belief that one key difference between what we call anime and general cartoons, is the style itself. That being, the manga style.
Now, the manga style, obviously as a general rule involves idealization of the human form. That is, enphesising features considered attractive.
e.g: large eyes, fair skin, small nose, males having large muscles. etc. etc. In the context of this discussion, such enphesisation is what I meant by "sexualisation" and apologies for the mis-use of terminology there.
At the same time, anime is one medium with lots of female protagonists. There are plenty of interesting and bad ass women in anime.
Not that I'm a fanboy of one of them or anything

damn straight.
I mean think about it, it's still equal because men are just as idealized as women.
and yeah, neither are always/usually a sexual fantasy but more a power fantasy because beauty = power in modern society. And really it's as simple as that. I could go into the specifics of the psychology around this idealization but the gist of it I've already explained and I don't feel like going all anthropology/psychology/sociology student on you guys at the moment. I'm confused about the tech level in Akame ga kill.
Its like a cross between the 19th century and 20th century.
Like, they have automatic weapons, yet they still use swords?
AoT at least kept to to something like the 19th century, stylistically.
The jaegars are pretty fun. I prefer Akame to Kurome, but I found Wave to be more interesting than Tatsumi.

I usually don't. That said it's kind of irritating when something that seems like an otherwise solid product has the stink of excessive fanservice, embarrassing character designs or just plain creepiness keeping me from enjoying it.

Finished up re-watching Last Exile. I love that show, can't recommend it enough.
That being said, and despite my increasingly long "to-watch" list, does anybody know of a good romance anime? I've been missing major feelings since finishing Toradora.

Your Lie in April has some feels, I hopped off the feels train after I guessed the "twist".
Thanks, I'll check that out.
Few other romance suggestions.
Sakura Trick: it's girl on girl romance, but its cutesy
MY love STORY: new show this spring, about a lovable oaf being the best and worst wingman in existence.
I can't understand what my husband is saying: romance about an office worker and her NEET/Otaku husband. Episodes are 3 minutes long, super sweet, no depressing feels, just d'awwww

Finished Akame ga Kill. The last few episodes are bs. I hope the manga doesn't end like that.
Is the manga as disjointed as the anime? I (mostly) enjoyed the anime, but I found the inconsistent tech levels, the constant shark jumping (seriously, what the feth is with Seryu's arms? Humans aren't briefcases, you just can't shove an armory in them and expect them to live) and the "level up" lines to be off putting. The rushed character arcs and the excessive monologues didn't help matters either.

It wasn't meant as a joke, he's just gonna get punched right in the feels.
SaiKano was the first anime series I saw in Japanese, and I didn't get hit with the feels, so I'm curious as to how I'd find it now, what 11 years later?

The second episode was easier to handle than the first, but I still can't handle the main character. Also can I have Triage D, where they cap the bust size at D?

Yes. I support Triage D, maybe with less time devoted to jiggle physics the MC can afford more of a personality. The idea's interesting for him, they just need to fething execute.

Pretty sure everyone involved with this series was on a combination of acid, crack and heroin.
That said, it's pretty much Inferno Cop, with ninjas. If you don't know what Inferno Cop is, be afraid.
Oh... dear....
I expect massive rage .... Inferno Cop was NOT for everyone.
