It's full on harem, that's Bell's goal afterall, though hearing these words from his grandfather makes soooo much sense when you finish the series.
Since when was having a harem Bell's goal? I quite like how it was handled though- they like him, but not all of them are constantly in his day-to-day life. As in actually living with him.
Just googled and saw it was mentioned in the novels(which I haven't read), but did it ever come up in the anime?

Yeah, he's after one particular girl. Course I haven't finished it yet.

Yeah, there's definitely a harem, but other than Hestia and a bit of cat girl later on they don't really shove in your face constantly which is why it doesn't bother me so much like others. Same with SAO, though I have other issues with that series.

They definitely have a love polygon going on, but it lacks some of the classic haram elements.

Sorry, I thought it was mentioned in the anime (I've been pouring through episode 1 again). The closest thing we have is when we hear his grandfather's voice over saying "Bell, an adventurer needs to meet his girls in a dungeon."
BUT here's the opening from the Light Novel that I posted when the anime started.
Is is wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon? You know, an endless labyrinth divided into multiple floors and filled with scary monsters?
Expectation: Join a group of fearless adventurers seeking wealth and fame. Go off to battle as soon as guild registration is complete. Meet a beautiful girl and protect her from an onslaught of monsters with only a sword in my hand. The air fills with her echoing screams, the monsters' roars, and the clash of my sword as we face certain death. In the end, all that remains is her sitting on the floor beside my cool, heroic self standing over the remains of all the monsters I slew. Her cheeks blush as she looks upon me with beautiful, sparkling eyes. Love is about to bloom.
....
I want to grow up a bit, become the kind of hero men dream about in tales of adventure. I want to be more than friends with cute girls. I want to meet the ladies of all the different races. Isn't having these slightly corrupt and naive thoughts part of being a young man? Is trying to meet girls in a dungeon, no... a harem, really that wrong?
Conclusion: I was wrong. I'm about to die courtesty of these slightly corrupt and naive thoughts. Basically, I'm being chased by the bull-headed man-beast, the Minotaur. I'm going to be devoured by a monster that my measly Level one attacks can't even scratch. I'm dead. So, so dead.
And srsly if you haven't finished the anime, don't open CthuluIsSpy's spoiler. It's not a big one, but it's a nice little night cap to the series.

The one with Hestia?
It's basically a well-disguised Harem Anime, and I will bet that if there is a Manga of it that continues the story it becomes a Harem Anime.

Originally a light novel series, then anime, and they are releasing a manga series now too. Manga may have alread been out, but I only saw the first issue at BAM! The other day so I may be assuming things.

The manga is up to like chapter 39 or so according to what I saw on r/manga.
I also hope that it keeps going on, harem tag aside (and most of the ladies in the harem are good characters in their own right), it's a great look at a fantasy setting.

I buy all my manga, so sorting by chapter is alien to me. I'm guessing about 10 chapters to a graphic novel, so almost 4 volumes?

I've got a burgeoning manga collection that has a few skeletons from when I was 15, but r/manga is great for checking out new series. Um... I think most tend to go with like 6-7 chapters a volume so anywhere between 5 and 6 volumes, though only 3 are released in Japanese.
I will probably just continue to watch the anime though, because the LN's translations are rough to say the least (look at my post with the entry from the LN) and I don't need the manga.

I bet we started collecting at about the same time then. Before Adult Swim was a thing, and everything aired on Toonami(not counting DragonBall and Sailor Moon from Elementary/Middle School)? I'm guessing you have somewhere in the neighborhood of a thousand volumes?
I think I'm just odd when it comes to the culture. I've never read anything online, or streamed anything. Crunchyroll is my first foray into it.
Nah, I fell out of the anime/manga crowd about 2006. And just recently got back into it. My collection is about 50 volumes spanning like 10 different series with 11 of those being Naruto. Had I stuck with it, I'd probably own easily several hundred.
But yes, I was of the Toonami/Adult Swim crowd growing up, along with the Pokemon crowd on Saturday mornings.

She is a safe Loli fantasy without people thinking you "weird."
BTW....
I LOVED the last episode of GATE, where the protagonist (can't recall his name), sees the girl with the Axe standing in the road with his binoculars and yells:
GOTH LOLI GIRL! (ゴスロリ少女!- Gosu Rori Shoujo).
Who then crawls up into his lap.....
I used to have a girlfriend who looked just like the girl with the Axe.... I think all my girlfriends have been the Goth-Loli types.

It's a cool anime that's really well done until near the end (and the action is pretty damn cool). Unfortunately the end is completely different from the manga. That part is almost a bump in the road, the story still continues after that so if you enjoy the anime, please read the manga from that point onwards.
You know NNB is awesome when you are completely shocked because the episode is over. So shocked you go check the time saying "no, it's impossible!". It's the only anime it always feels like it's only been 5 minutes

"Fear is freedom! Subjugation is liberation! Contradiction is truth! These are the truths of this world! Surrender to these truths, you pigs in human clothing!" - Satsuki Kiryuin, Kill la Kill
Meh, Hestia was probably the worst part of the series to me. I've just generally gotten annoyed by the girl who constantly obsessively throws herself all over the guy trope in anime, made all the worse by her outfit, so it was dull when she was pulling that routine. When she was chill she was fine.

Very true. Loki being a chick (or a dude in a dress)... that's pretty much par for the course. Same with, well, any of the Norse pantheon. Odin's gay, Thor's been a bride multiple times, Loki's a mother...
