The 6th ed codex had a specific section dedicated to this saying you can, I cant seem to find such a section in the 7th ed rulebook.

Looks like no, you cannot take jink saves against tank shock (ramming).

Needs to be a shooting attack to trigger Jink, which a Ram isn't.

A vehicle wouldn't be able to declare a Jink against a Ram, as a ram isn't a shooting attack. But if you had declared a Jink earlier (it would have had to be a weapon using Interceptor, or a multi-player/side battle) you could use it against the penetrating / glancing hit presumably?

Of course, that doesn't help (Bikes / Jetbikes) against either Death or Glory or being crushed by being unable to move out of the way of a Tank Shock (as they don't cause wounds).

Since ramming happens in the Movement phase, the rammed vehicle won't still be jinking.

Unless they jinked as part of Overwatch. That's the only way it will still be Jinking.

But jink is a cover save. I don't think it works vs ram attacks.

There's no reason it wouldn't.

Cover saves are only against shooting though, right? AFAIK that's the case, don't have the BRB with me right now, otherwise SM scouts with Camo cloaks would get 6+ cover against AP4 weapons in CC, in which case I may need to rethink my stance on scouts

No. CC explicitly prohibits cover saves, but in general all saves are allowed at all times.

Ruleswise, no. Ramming isn't a shooting attack, but that's not relevant. It's also not a CC attack, and CC attacks are the only thing that prohibits cover saves.

Problem is, only CC attacks have RaW to disallow Cover saves (and anything with ignores cover or specific wording). As ramming does not mention being a CC attack or mention cover saves, they have to apply...

Some of the terminology in the cover save rules ("firer", "fires", etc.) is problematic if you try to apply them to a non-shooting attack.

Only if you're checking for obscurity.
Jink doesn't care about that.

Some people however will argue that 'Jink' gives you a cover save which by its wording seems to indicate it can only be used against shooting attacks. Personally I don't care either way, but be prepared for it to be brought up.

Except that's not a true statement whatsoever.
The only rules to determine obscurement refer to shooting attacks.
Except we already know we have a cover save and don't care about being obscured.

It's like saying "Be prepared to have people tell you BS4 hits on a 4+. Because obviously 4 hits on a 4."
