Wow, thats quite a twist. Quite unexpected and very well done.

Spoiler:
The shows frontrunner, Captain Flint is gay. He seemed distant when having sex with Miranda in season 1 and it looked awkward. Now we know why. Completely changes the relationship dynamic between the two.

Rakham was put in a bind, having to choose between Anne and Max. Poor guy can't have any of his plans work out. And the preview for next episode didn't seem to get sny better for him.

Spoiler:

Flint and Vane have a damn good fight but separated and locked in the room till they resolve their difference
Flint going to have to get Ash daughter from Vane so there's the clincher for compromise
Billy going to keep quiet and thinking we have dynamic duo situation with Silver with Randal incognito but we have a triumvirate

This was actually a pretty good episode, as far as explaining Flint's rationales. Rather than being gratuitous, it becomes clear that A.) This was intended from the beginning and B.) actually makes the character's motivations pretty believable.

I wonder who is going to win in

Spoiler:
The one-on-one fight between Flint and Vane. Vane clearly seems stronger and faster, but Flint seems wily, and experienced.

Kinda lame to tease it last week and then drop it at the end of the episode so it's still not resolved.

Spoiler:
What did you guys think of Flints gay twist?
Whilst it does bring a greater touch of humanity to him, rather than this ironwilled force of nature, Im not sure it justifies his motivations? Hes going to such difficult and indepth ends because he feels a bit guilty? Hmmm not sure on that one.

Best show on TV at the moment for me still though.

Bit of a low key ending to the series I thought. But leaves things poised interestingly for the next.
Really enjoyed seaosn 2, this and Walking Dead have been great viewing of late.

Spoiler:
Poor Miranda :(

I didn't know it was back. Going to on demand it tonight. Looking forward to Ray Stevenson as Blackbeard.

Great show, just discovered it last week and proceed to binge watch the whole thing. As a kid you who loved reading about the Golden Age of Pirates and their exploits I really love the show depiction of not only the era but the Historical Characters as well.

Spoiler:
I keep holding my breath with black beard. I really, Really want to see him be unleashed. Quintessential Black Beard should be a joy to watch and should give Flint a run for his money when it comes to the scariest pirate of all seven seas; that being said when Flint meets black beard should be good too can't wait for that. Glad to see John get his spine back when it comes to dealing with Flint, the guys desperately needs some one to be his foil so as to stay out of crazy land, thought I can't help but wonder how long that is going to last.

Season 3 just kicked off 3 weeks ago. Its currently going into episode 4 tomorrow.
No idea of US dvd releases though.

Caught up tonight with it. Still very enjoyable. Bit of a double cliff hanger at the end of e3!

What did you guys make of the death of:

Spoiler:
Vane?

I was a bit sad but in retrospect I think his character had maybe reached the end of the line plot-wise, once they broke the link with Blondey. With the introduction of Blackbeard as a "new badass", perhaps they felt they needed to write Vane out. Although I was disappointed they didnt explore his relationship with BB more and expand on that.

Ack, bloody clicked the spoiler automatically without even reading the context... :(

I wasn't even aware season 3 was out, but it seemed like a long time coming. I'll have to wait for the DVD release unfortunately. Maybe we'll be getting to the downfall part eventually.

It was a brave and unexpected move - killing a major character - and one that had a good fan base - epsecially amongst the ladies.................its like killing Daryl in the walkting Dead!

Its been a great season - although I am now firmly on the side of the Governor, Max and Eleanor

This was a great season.

Loved the battles at the end, and the flashback back and forth between Flint and Silver as it was happening was a nice touch.

Thoroughly bored with Max and Eleanor, though. One of them needs to die next season. We lost 2 pirate captains this season, so its one of their turns to meet an end. I'd prefer Eleanor, as it seems like she's betrayed everyone at least once at some point. But then so has Max...

Felt that Hornigold and Mr. Scott were under represented this season, lessening their impact on the overall plot and how they ended up in it.

Overall a fun season and minus too much focus on the non pirate actors, this was my favorite season so far.

I'm still loving this show. It's my new Game of Thrones. I'm a bit miffed that a certain captain met his end in a manner not consistent with history, but the series is centered around a fictitious character anyway. I think this is showing Silver's descent into darkness a lot better than the Star Wars prequels did with Anakin or Borderlands with Handsome Jack.

It wasn't until this season that I saw someone mention that thus learned Black Sails was a precursor to Treasure Island. I also did not realize the one dude was Long John Silver until the very end when they called him that.

My friend thought Max was blackbeard for weeks because of her.....well you know....."hair".

Great season overall. Disappointed
Spoiler:
to lose Vane
but looks like its gearing up for a great 3rd season. Im thinking the Spanish might make an appearance too, wanting their gold back etc.
